Hello, I have had a very interesting Idea.
I want to do a game where your players are lost deep in ancient ruins. How they got here, no-one knows. They awoke, with no memory of who they are or how they got here. They have nothing, only the rusty blades of the long dead. But that isn't even the worst part. Something is here with them... Something... Dark.
I wanna do a game where the characters wake up basically naked. And it's their job to navigate these ancient ruins and learn who they are, how they got here, and why they are here. All the while being chased by enemies too powerful for them to fight on their own.
This game is based in a world between, where Anything could be true and nothing is impossible.
I'll be looking for 4 players, particularly a diverse group of characters. I will not focus on balancing the group. Infact I expect you to adapt as we go. And learn ways to take out Enemies efficiently and with minimal resources.
Players will start lvl 1, no Equipment, save for one item essential to your class. This can be a Spellbook, Holy symbol, Spellcasting focus if some kind, a simple Weapon (less than 20gp value), or a light wooden shield.
I recremend classes that don't rely on mounts, guns, or pets. However you have the chance to find pets in game. Equipment will be limited. Also, I am banning Monk/Brawler because they take the challenge out of unarmed combat.
Stats:20 point build or 3d6. One or the other, if you don't like your rolls you can try the build.
RACE: Any Paizo- No Race bulder- Except Lizardfolk. You may ask about my custom races.
Class- Any Paizo, BANNED:MONK, BRAWLER, GUNSLINGER, CHAINED SOMMONER
Traits:Any two, and a Drawback.
Background: None- you are all strangers, yet I'd like at least a summary of Personality.
Alignment: NO EVIL! Although I do like the idea, I have no intention of doing this.
Also when you wake up, you will have a note pinned to your chest, with a pin. It will be important to your story, and will be based on your Personality.
This note will grant each of you something unique. And it will be useful in the future.

Wow, challenging! Let's have a look...
3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1) = 10
3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2) = 9
3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6) = 10
3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1) = 6
3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1) = 9
3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3) = 10
Trolololol! Okay, 20 point it is...
I'll try to find something adaptable enough.
Question: when you ban Monk/Brawler, I guess you're also banning archetypes that mimic these mechanics, such as unarmed fighter, etc, right?

Uthraed |

3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2) = 10
3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1) = 8
3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4) = 11
3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2) = 12
3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1) = 9
3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1) = 10
A 20 point buy would be better. I think I am going to go with a dwarf in a loin cloth who is not at all surprised to find himself waking up in an unknown place with next to nothing. Just need to pick a class, probably something martial.

So basically Dark Souls in tabletop format? Interested! I will have all my party members praising the sun yet!
Do note that every good dungeon crawl needs waifu bait. It's tradition, of course. Even if the waifu bait is actually a monster trying to eat a character's face. /gamerjoke
Dice: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4) = 10
Dice: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1) = 7
Dice: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6) = 8
Dice: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2) = 12
Dice: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2) = 13
Dice: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4) = 11
Those rolls are awful, so I am electing for the point buy.

Joy |

Interested in the idea, it reminds me of a parlor larp my friend would run. Also a fan of movies that start out that way. :)
3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3) = 12
3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4) = 15
3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2) = 9
3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5) = 16
3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5) = 13
3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4) = 14
Not bad, I think I will go with this roll. Not sure what class to go with though. I will see what fits with the stats and then decide.

ScorchedOne |

What about kineticist? Are they banned outright, or only things like the elemental ascetic? I merely ask because that would seem a way around your intention, I don't actually intend to play one or apply with one.
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3) = 9
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) = 13
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5) = 17
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1) = 9
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6) = 16
Those are actually decent...
I will consider my options, and come 'round this way again.

Time for some answers!
1)Custom Races well, I have only one and that's
size: medium
Speed: 30ft
Stats: +2cha, +2Str, -2Dex: Dragonborn are Tough and quite skilled in social situations, but tend to be brutish and lack Finnese
Languages:-Start: Common, Draconic, -Bonus: Elven, Dwarven, Gnome, Aklo, Orc, Giant, Gnoll, Goblin
Dragon Affinity: Dragonborn have a connection with Dragons. During Creation Pick a dragon type. All your resistances and powers from this race are based off that dragon. They also gain a +2 vs. Sleep, paralyzation, and Enchantments. They also gain a +1 to CL when using powers from the Draconic Bloodline, but it has to be the same type they picked at creation. all resistances and bonuses stack with that of the Draconic bloodline.
Energy resistance: dragonborn gain resistance 5 to Energy based on their dragon type.
Emissary (1 RP): Prerequisites: None; Benefit: Once per day, members of this race can roll twice when making a Bluff or Diplomacy check and take the better roll.
Breath Weapon (2 RP): Choose one of the following energy types: acid, cold, electricity, or fire. Then pick either a 15-foot cone or a 20-foot line. as a standard action, members of this race can make a supernatural breath weapon attack that deals 1d6 points of the damage type chosen in the area chosen. All creatures within the affected area must make a Reflex saving throw to avoid taking damage. The save DC against this breath weapon is 10 + 1/2 the user's character level + the user's Constitution modifier. Those who succeed at the save take no damage from the attack. (based off the same table as the Sorcerer bloodline) they can use this as many times a day equal to 1 + their Con modifier
Swordtrained (4 RP): Prerequisites: None; Benefit: Members of this race are trained from birth in swordplay, and as a result are automatically proficient with swordlike weapons (including bastard swords, daggers, elven curve blades, falchions, greatswords, kukris, longswords, punching daggers, rapiers, scimitars, short swords, and two-bladed swords).
Darkvision 60 Feet (2 RP): Prerequisites: None; Benefit: Members of this race can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
Dragonborn where once simple lizard men, but dragons used them as slave labor for thousands of years, and they developed an affinity for the magical reptiles. They where oppressed and enslaved by chromatics, but with the help from the metallic dragons, dragonborn where freed. They soon built a society, basing it around the society of metalic dragons, where the oldest would counsel and desire what's best for the community, and with the aid of a silver dragon worshiper of Bahamut they soon had a flourishing society.
Dragonborn are trained with swords from the moment they can hold one. The size and type of blade showed status, a shortsword meaning you are a scout or ranger, a greatsword showing your a leader or a person of great importance.
2) Monk like archetypes are not allowed, yes. I'm allowing Kineticist because even though they can blast fire from their fingertips, often times they end up coming across something resistant or immune to their attacks. After all, Zombies have DR/Slashing, and most Kineticist blast are blunt. Early on, several undead are immune to cold, fire resistance is essential early on, and Kineticist have no practical use during RP or trap sessions.
Anyways, yes, Dark souls with Pathfinder, after all it's easy enough for me to simply overpower you with huge creatures early on. I'm not gonna overwhelm you though (says this as he hides his dragon miniture under the table)
Other than that, we've had some good ideas so far. If you wanna, I put out the first post in gameplay if you wanna see how it starts...

ScorchedOne |

I am thinking of making a barbarian. I shall name him Brapp Facesmasher. Is Orc an acceptable race, as it is a Paizo race? I seriously want to make someone ugly and stupid, who is a giant meathead and smasher.
If not I'll probably just go half-orc, and have him be similar just not quite to the same extent. It ain't easy being green.

Phntm888 |
Okay, I'm mildly intrigued. Let's see what we end up with.
Roll: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2) = 11
Roll: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6) = 14
Roll: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4) = 11
Roll: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6) = 12
Roll: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2) = 14
Roll: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4) = 8
While not terrible, it's only an 11 point buy, so I'll take the 20.
I might give your Dragonborn a try...
EDIT: If I do go with the Dragonborn, do they have any specific Favored Class Bonuses, or any particular magic or spellcasting beliefs? I'm basically asking how their Dragon Affinity abilities and breath weapon would interact with the Draconic Sorcerer Bloodline.

Almonihah |

Curious. I'll throw some rolls out there, see if anything comes to mind.
Stat: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2) = 8
Stat: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6) = 10
Stat: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) = 13
Stat: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2) = 10
Stat: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5) = 12
Stat: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1) = 5
Yeah no. 20 point buy if I decide to go for it... what's the time frame on applying?

Gramork |

Would you be open to any third party. I would love to play The Spell-less Ranger if you allow it.

Gramork |

str: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1) = 8
dex: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1) = 5
con: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5) = 10
int: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1) = 10
wis: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4) = 13
cha: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2) = 8
yeah there is no way in hell im using these. 20 point buy it is. If you say no to the spell-less ranger i intend to build a switch-hitter vanilla ranger instead.

![]() |

There are archetypes that remove spells for the ranger. Such as The Skrmisher so you can look into those. Also, there is the trapper that makes it into a full BAB rouge.
Yes, I allow natural weapons because unlike the monk or brawler you can't get your natural weapons any stronger than standard.
I am allowing Orcs, those are fine. Anything from the race guide/core book is fine.

Krasota Vasco |

Tassadan here with Krasota Vasco: A proud, virtuous Dragonborn Paladin of... of...
...
Oh no.
He can't remember.
Krasota's personality is such that his entire identity was based on servitude to his God's ideals, and now he has no idea what those are! Very attached to the idea that Paladins are supposed to be 100% certain of their actions at all times, Krasota becomes incredibly defensive should anyone call him out on his lack of confidence in his actions.
He just wants to figure out who he is as fast as he can with no-one else noticing his newfound insecurities... but in the meantime his shaky and needlessly uptight behavior may compromise the strict code of a Paladin...
Krasota will do his best to compensate for this lack of direction and insecurity the only way he knows how: by dialing his already haughty alpha-personality up to 11.
Any character with a positive Wisdom score will probably be able to tell that Krasota is actually terrified at the prospect of being so directionless in his life, and will react VERY defensively if his abilities or motives are questioned in any way.
DM Waz Up?, I have it in my imagination that Krasota is the albino child of two Silver-Scaled Dragonborn, falsely suggesting to his parents that he's a bastard child (and/or evil, depending upon how chromatic Dragonborn are perceived in your conception of their society). Feel free to play with this as you wish, or ignore it entirely. I'll play Krasota as completely clueless to his family and origins until he's given further information.
I've also adapted the Tiefling trait "prideful temper," to Krasota. I felt that it would complement his Drawback well, and would not be out-of-place for those who consider themselves dragon-adjacent.

Valthar doesn’t remember his home, his family, or anything he did in life to this point - but he does know two things: one, his name, and two, he’s a mother f%@ckin’ dragon. At least, he looks like one, he can cast spells, and he can grow claws. He feels a desire to protect others, which makes him think he’s a good dragon - ignoring the fact that his scales are green and not metallic. Far as he’s concerned, he’s a good dragon that an evil wizard cursed and banished to this dark place, and once he reclaims his true might and glory, he’s going to find that wizard, defeat him, and then eat him like the tasty, tasty snack he is.
What? He’s chaotic good. Besides, what good did that wizard ever do for the world?
EDIT: Grammar.

Let me run this idea by you.
A Samsaran that is reborn every time he dies, but comes back as a different class with a different personality.
I want to make (or you can make) a random table for classes and another for personality types or maybe just descriptive adjectives. Then I'll roll (or you can roll) on them whenever my character dies and what I get becomes my new character.
I can't think of many games where this would be a good fit but this seem like one. Thoughts?

Pythia_ |

Tiny Coffee Golem here.
Pythia is my submission. He's a half Drow Sage Sorcerer with the Seeker Archtype. Meaning his spells are Int based and he has Trapfinding. His one item is a mundane set of thieves tools.
Fingers crossed
Oh. He's also Albino. I forgot that part. Basically he's really odd looking.

I know of a perfect thing for this, It's using the Ultimate campaign Random Background generator... Here is a Tool to help you can either completely randomize everything (this usually results in a core race due to racial percentage), but I do suggest you just pick the race yourself and use it to generate pretty much everything else.
However, If your Character Dies(which there is a good chance) I expect to continue, usually bringing your Character back through magic of some kind...
Alright, I've decided to incorporate the hero point system, but I will warn you, these aren't exactly like hero points. They will act alot like a Djinni's wish. You will get what you asked for, but not in the way you expect. For example, if you use them to avoid death, there is a good chance that you will still die but be reborn/resurrected in some way that traumatizes you.
Also, I'm adding Information to the Campaign info tab as we go. Most of it is just information you know when you wake up.

Posting rate?
I will try for a minimum of once per day, including weekends if possible. If a day passes without response, I will assume you have nothing to say and will continue, or bot you as needed.
However there may come a day where I don't post. Usually this is because I'm waiting on players :P but sometimes it is RL. Please be patient, and I will come back.

New to the forums, but not really to tabletop, pbp or pathfinder. Just throwing out some rolls like other folks to see what comes to mind if anything..!
1: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4) = 12
2: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3) = 11
3: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5) = 13

5: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2) = 13
6: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2) = 12
And yeah. Probably just going to run the point-buy. Let me see what stirs up the creative juices here.
