... Alright, I'm caving- Joining in.

Current concept requires the use of Spheres of Power at this level, and is a rehash of this character her, a curmogony old half-pyreen alchemist (Functionally just a modified human Oracle, but 'eh), who has learned to fight as she might.

Currently planning on either going Incanter 3//Conscript or Incanter // Oracle 3, not entirely sure which. The Conscript will be a better fighter, certainly, but she's supposed to be more an alchemist than a fighter. Just pure Incanter could be reasonable, but then the mythic is rather frivolous, wouldn't you say? A difficult challange in terms of building her, especially as there are so few mythic item handbooks.

First excursion into the dark sun setting, and I'm very happy to say I enjoyed it! Thanks for running it.

Josie finds herself a hovel in old kurn, and gets to work establishing her alchemical business, setting up a long line of paceas and cure-alls that, over the next ten years, earns her a nice enough fortune to get herself a copper headband. Eventually, she is discovered by a Pyreen, who took personal offense, and died attempting to take her life. The paranoia haunts her until she died 50 years later, as she adopted a more nomatic life. Eventually, she meets Veleron and gets punched in the face (Those two might be related).

All in all? An enjoyable and long-lived life, this middle aged woman had.

Josie smiles, and travels into the city. She parses through spices, and acts like a tourist until she returns, mildly intoxicated with her Crodlu dragging her forward.

Josie eyes the Dwarf, "I just hope nobody related to my ex is there. Hoping to find myself a shop, set up some roots. Maybe find another man. You know I'm a herbalist, right? Or at the very least, an alchemist. If you needed something, I could have cooked it up."

Josie watches the arrows fly, and the corpses of the halflings accumulate.

"Come on, they broke rank, let's head into town! It feels like it's been years since we've started our journey!"

She gazes at the city, "So. What are you guys going to do there, you think?"

Josie spends the round casting Enlarge Person on the half-giant, causing him to expand from the size of a megre horse, to the size of a large wagon.

Her familiar gives one of the beasts a foul glare, DC 13 will or paralyze.

Her Crodlu, lies down, and analyzes the battlefield for the biggest Halfling, and gives it an angry death glare that says more than any mere mortal could say in 6 seconds.

1d20 + 13 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 13 + 4 = 30

A joking TL;DR:
I will eat you. And your families. Then I will claw your eyeballs out, and shove them up your wives throat. While you live. Then you will be dragged and hung by your intestines, while I eat you. After I stab you. Multiple times. Because I can stab you. While you're on fire. Because I can also blow you up. It's easy for me, because I'm giant, and you're tiny. And an idiot. Who mother didn't love you. Because you're an idiot. And adopted. And can't hold your beer.
Because you're dinner. For me, at least. And not a good dinner either,
a cheap, poor quality dinner that will disappoint even a poor housecat.
But I will eat you, because you're easy to be eaten.

Happy new year!

Josie casts Prayer, and sits herself down.
Her crodlu jumps onto her wagon, and performs a dazzling display when the halflings enter into range.

Crodlu Intimidate: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Her familiar intimidates any who remain unintimidated. 1d20 + 15 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 15 - 4 = 15

Josie, still half-asleep, barely registered the halfling herd until her Crodlu screamed.

She sighs, and grabs a firework from her stash, casting Full Pouch, and fires a Coughing Dragon behind her.

"At least you get half off on Quarterlings!" Josie calls to the Dray.

Sheet: Oracle [Spirit Guide] [Dual Cursed] 5 HP 38/38 | AC 16 / T 10 / FF 16 | Fort +5 / Ref +1 / Will +6 | Initiative +0 | Perception +9 | 1-7/8 2-1/5 3-3/4

Josie spends the day in her wagon, seemingly guiding itself (Though genuinely led by the Crodlu Grod).

She continues crafting.

Craft (Alchemy): 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 15 + 2 = 31

Josie is.

Josie stares at the dragon until it's a distant, distant face.
"F@#&in beasts."

She returns to her wagon, and brings herself to sleep.

Sheet: Oracle [Spirit Guide] [Dual Cursed] 5 HP 38/38 | AC 16 / T 10 / FF 16 | Fort +5 / Ref +1 / Will +6 | Initiative +0 | Perception +9 | 1-7/8 2-1/5 3-3/4

Sheet: Oracle [Spirit Guide] [Dual Cursed] 5 HP 38/38 | AC 16 / T 10 / FF 16 | Fort +5 / Ref +1 / Will +6 | Initiative +0 | Perception +9 | 1-7/8 2-1/5 3-3/4

Josie sighs, a major look of annoyance on her face.

"Of course it's still circling."
She looks to Zera- "Your bird can carry stuff, right?"

She returns into her caravan, and fires another Coughing Dragon into the air with a casting of Full pouch.
"GO THE F$!@ AWAY, YOU DAMN USELESS LIZARD, WE GOT ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH!"
Intimidate from Josie: 1d20 + 15 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 15 - 4 + 2 = 23
Her crodlu makes more menacing noises, trying to aid it's master.
Crodlu aid another: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 13 - 2 = 26

Josie attaches her Coughing Dragon firework to her Crodlu, and lights it. Grod the Crodlu moves to the side, and moves to the far side of the camp. He aims above, and lets the firework cover the far side of the campsite, filling the air sunward side with a noxious smoke (DC 17 fort or be sickened for 1d6 rounds).

Crodlu fort save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 Duration: 1d4 ⇒ 1
She then casts Prayer on everyone, granting them +1 on attack rolls, damage rolls, saves and skill checks.

Her Familiar readies an action to intimidate the drake when it lands.

Familiar intimidate: 1d20 + 15 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 15 - 4 = 21

Loreli slowly rises, groggily and annoyed, glaring at Tarkhas with annoyance extraordinaire, her ears poised to hear the sound.
"Of f#~#ing course somethings attacking in the night, of f+%#ing course. Can't have a nice full night's rest, now can I? GROD, LOOK INTIMIDATING! Didn't bring freaking dragon powder, no fire, just f$~*ing fireworks."

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

She pulls herself up, grasping around for a coughing Dragon, casting Full Pouch while she does so.

"DID YOU HEAR ME YOU LAZY LOUT, START LOOKING SCARY!"

Her crodlu, also barely a quarter awake, gave a menacing glare to whatever was near. Which, currently, seemed to a small bush. It took the crodlu a second to get up and look around.

Crodlu Intimidate @ Bush: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Crodlu Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Additionally, her Speckled Hurrum, only just now being brought back into existence, scurried out from under her wagon, making what could possibly be construed as a screaming noise as it looked around.

Hurrum perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

I'm thankful for it!

Edit: Grod is now looking very frighteningly at a bush. I suppose being grumpy helps.

Josie glared at Zera, but shrugged, "I'm off to bed then, Tarkas can deal with the evening," she said, "Don't wake me until morning."

Ah, gotcha. Just wondered about it, as I was think about purchasing them, and then seeing if I could, essentially, treat them as supplies for tea and other spendatries. Though I suppose those are what store and sundries are for.

As for number of caravans, 4 caravans should be, functionally, more than enough. Would leave one under Lulu's control via her feral talk hex, one for Joseph, Loreli's Manservant, one for Kazrek, and one for anyone else.

Sheet: Oracle [Spirit Guide] [Dual Cursed] 5 HP 38/38 | AC 16 / T 10 / FF 16 | Fort +5 / Ref +1 / Will +6 | Initiative +0 | Perception +9 | 1-7/8 2-1/5 3-3/4

That's probably a good idea, but I spent 800 gp on clothing, so there's a fair bit of insight into how she's spending her money. (Not exactly optimal, but it's just too fluff-fitting), and having a hireling that, in terms of flavor, is her butler, is to fluff-fitting, though I don't know his Handle Animal score.

Speaking of gold, I should buy some trade goods. Fill up my supply caravan, I have 5 slots, after all. The guide says they cost 10 gp each, so that should be good.

That is, very much an option. Just extend any wagons we already have by anybody else's companion's wagons. Would be +1250 to at least one person, who might be able to buy a pearl of power, to nab me an extra casting of Mage Armor on you guys, or some other long-term spell.

No problem. If you want your familiar to be somewhat monstrous, while not *overtly* monstrous, give it the neck of a green Haron. I can see it now.

Good to hear! Also, before I purchase my caravan, can I purchase a Bedroom, Bath, and Lavoratory for my Cart? Am I allowed to say that I "Earned" the downtime stuff to only have to pay 285 for the wagon "House?"

Apologies- I didn't realize that I screwed up my Diplomacy roll by 1 before finishing up my skills, and I fell asleep before I could finish my roll. It should actually be 14/16, rather than 15/17. I think I simply miscalculated Extremely Fashionable, adding it twice, and removed it once.

With me, I have a +14 to diplomacy checks, more usually +16, because I don't think I'm going to have debates with cats.

+4 Skill ranks
+3 Class Skill
+5 Intelligence (Via Student of Philosophy)
+4 vs Humanoids, via the Overlooked Mastermind alternate racial trait.

For a quick breakdown of race, She's a half orc who traded Darkvision for Skilled, and intimidating, orc ferocity, and weapon familiarity for Overlooked Mastermind, which grants +2 to Bluff, Diplomacy, and Sense Motive, increasing to +4 vs humanoids. (She also gets +2 to feign ignorance and to intercept secret messages, but that's not really important in most points).

Sheet: Oracle [Spirit Guide] [Dual Cursed] 5 HP 38/38 | AC 16 / T 10 / FF 16 | Fort +5 / Ref +1 / Will +6 | Initiative +0 | Perception +9 | 1-7/8 2-1/5 3-3/4

I can't believe I forgot to cast Focused Scrutiny. That's +5 to my Diplomacy check! And I just left that on the table! I could have gotten a solid 40 on my diplomacy roll, that was just disappointing.

On the topic of build, I don't *Think* anyone will need Slight of Hand, but it might be useful at some point. So if someone feels like they can fit it, it might be good, but otherwise, it should be fine.

In terms of going aid-another, I'm not sure that's the best idea. Might be good, but might be back, but I'm uncertain.

Sheet: Oracle [Spirit Guide] [Dual Cursed] 5 HP 38/38 | AC 16 / T 10 / FF 16 | Fort +5 / Ref +1 / Will +6 | Initiative +0 | Perception +9 | 1-7/8 2-1/5 3-3/4

Apologies about the misinformation- I intended to say that in a heavy wagon, not a cart. A cart is much too small to carry her creature comforts. That's what I was asking for- Albeit with the downtime system, that's a solid 570 gp on it's own. If I used earned capital, it would be 285. Some solid comfort, but still expensive.

-------------------

I took way too much time to create a spreadsheet, and these are my finds:

Nobody is trained in Appraise or Fly. The only craft really represented is Alchemy, and only Lo and Kaz are trained in Diplomacy. Lulu is the only one who can ride a horse, and if folks have to perform, we're doomed because only the bard can, and only on strings.
Everyone has 12-9 perception.

In terms of knowledge, we have them all covered with 'Lo's +9 to all, and +12 to some. 'Lo's only outclassed in 3 out of the 8, without including inspiration.

A little over half our party would die in some fairly rough water.

Only 'Lo and Kaz can disguise, and at a fairly low +6 and +1 mod.

Half our party can disable devices, and Grail is on par with 'Lo!

Edit: Just realized I overstated her skill with the word by 1. So reduce her vs Humanoids from +15 to +14 (+16 vs Humanoids)

I still need to do my spellbook, along with the alchemical equipment, and more mundane equipment. I need to revamp the clothing section, but the magical equipment section should be set.
I'm holding off on the spellbook for deciding what buffs our party needs, and maybe some situational buff spells.
Alchemical equipment will be largely the same. If there are more spellcasters than mundane casters, then I'd go with more debuffing alchemical weapons. If there are more damage-dealers, then I'll go with more buffing alchemical remedies. If there are more ranged, then I might go with more BFC Alchemical Tools. It's just a lot of work I have to do with that.

Clothing just isn't fit for a true lady, and is a bit ostentatious.

The reason for going is a bit soft, ATM, but I think the Friend of the Family trait, if I'm allowed something like that, might be good. An obligation from her father that she, despite not sharing her blood, she accepted and seeks to fufil.

I'm debating whether or not to ask to buy a bedroom and bathroom for my caravan. To buy the things outright, using the downtime rules for the price, would be 430 gp for, essentially, +2 vs diseases. Not including the decorations to both, which would be another 600 gp. If I presumed that it was earned, then it's only 515 gp total, but that's still a lot.

Went back and re-read your initial question; I thought you were asking for something that wasn't there, not simply losing the first ability.

You can do that. Apologies for all the round-aboutness.

The Hireling only costs 1,250 out the door; you only pay the rest once you arrive in Tian Xia. If you take Rich Parents, that effectively makes the hireling cost you (right now, when it matters) 350 gp. That seems reasonable enough.

Oh, apologies for the miscommunication!

Oh, at that price I figure it'd be cheaper to just buy 'em outright. +900 gp vs +1 to two skill just doesn't seem worth it.
Also, just realized that it's also a social trait. Which kinda sucks, because that means I have to find *another* trait to replace it with.

Fair point actually; I thought I recalled a few more "summon a sword that fights for you" things.

I know, right? I *swear* there was a spell that allowed someone to summon a sword for them made of force, but I can't find it anywhere on the Wizard list. Might be a cleric spell, I don't know.

Valence Niels d'Geiger wrote:
For this particular instance, provided you don't change things so your focus become what I'm giving you rather than what it was initially, I'd allow the abilities to translate onto Summon spells.

Umm... Was actually not planning on summoning at all, which kinda makes this less useful (Took a wizard ACF to swap out increased time on summons for increased time for extradimensional spaces). I take it only affects one summon at a time, rather than all summons?

For information, I'm building her Focused on party buffing and BFC, with the occasional alchemical item to burn a turn if I don't have anything else to do (Which I don't think will be likely), plus using my familiar to toss alchemical weapons as a bonus. Didn't plan on doing any summoning (Though it might end up that way, I don't know how it'll end up in play).

Personally, if I end up not using the Inspired combat stuff, that's disappointing, but a consequence of how I built her, and just excess mechanical baggage. I just proposed stripping the Cryptic archetype of the thing that blocks nearly every other archetype from interacting with it so I could have something I'd use.

Also... With you pushing a hireling so hard, I don't suppose the trait Rich Parents could be used to, instead of a +900 to GP, instead +3000 gp to go toward the hireling? Rich Parents fits her fluff to a T, but doesn't actually do anything at this level.

Sincerest apologies about misunderstanding what your intent was with the Blacksmith class- It seemed to be implicit with the statement of preference.

-Replacing studied strike-
No, I'm sorry. I would allow those two abilities to apply to spells that cause things to make a melee attack however.

So basically nothing unless I want to pretend to be a ghost. Gotcha.

Seriously though, I've taken a quick parse, I think you can make Melee attacks with Levitate, and Umbral weapon deals cold damage, and doesn't make a melee attack. No spell that I can find make melee attacks, even the Umbral weapon uses the other person's melee attack, rather than my own. Unless it also affects buffs that grant allies extra attacks, this is basically a null factor (And if it does affect buffs that grant extra attacks, whoo boy.) But either way, I suppose going without the class feature is not that terrible.

Well, I can either abandon my new concept (A half-orc Investigator//Wizard bastard of a noblewoman) to take up the wheel while driving, which won't be a good idea unless I can *also* cast spells while doing so, or I can go back to my Bard//Swashbuckler idea.

Alternatively, I could swap out some feats for some Spheres of Might Beastmastery sphere, gaining 3-4 (2 beast rearing tradition, either 2-3 level) talents, enough to be able to take it's rapid handle 3 times, getting Push and Handle to swift actions, and also take the Mass Handle talent, allowing me to push all the animals nearby as a swift action. However, also comes with the Bounty Hunter equipment sphere, which I honestly don't really like the flavor of for either character. This is all presuming you'll allow spheres of might's beastmastery sphere, of course, but as you have already allowed the Blacksmith class, it seems a viable option.

Edit: Forgot to mention a request I had- I don't plan on getting into Melee, ever. It doesn't fit with the character I have. However, the only archetype that replaces the Studied Strike and Studied Combat abilities is the Cryptid Scholar, which is incompatible with the Empiricist archetype, which fleshes out her usage of intelligence. May I request to drop the Intuitive Monster Lore feature from the archetype to gain the alteration to Studied Combat (Turning it from personal self-buff to party buff)?

Double Edit: False Spellcaster States that I can deliver infusions with a range of touch. Does that allow for my familiar to deliver infusions with a range of touch, also? What about other party-members?

Oooh, I've wanted to try this for quite a while.

Josie, deciding that she wanted to do nothing most of the day, casts Full Pouch to withdraw a vial of pure ice. With a casting of Alchemical Tinkering, she transforms the perfect ice vial into Homunculus clay, and adds a bit of blood. The clay comes to life, and begins to patrol.

So, a question on Alchemical Tinkering and Homunculus Clay- It says that the Alchemical Item turns to dust at the end of the spell period, but I presume that the effects remain. As the Homunculus is an effect of the alchemical item being used, does it remain for the full hour?

Grod is taking a moment to lie in the sand, and enjoy himself the morning to relax.

Should the day go by without harassment, she goes out and offers Valereon some tea.
"Still don't get how the blazes you enjoy this sand." she groans.

Posting interest. I presume that the NPCs listed in the player's guide is no longer considered part of the game?

If the NPCs still are, I have an Bard//(Oracle or Swashbuckler) that was an old lover of Koya, and has only just reunited with her in such a passing fashion! Oh woe be him whose love leaves once more, But yet! The day might be his, as might the woman he fell in love with so long ago! To a distant land he shall travel, dancing on the edge of starlight!

Alternatively, an Artisan//Investigator is an interesting character, focused on party support. An old private eye who's pack is full of old tools to solve the issues they have on hand.

After the debate, Josie offers two items from her stock of alchemical remedies, in exchange for any total items who value total to 80 gp, pointing to her age ointment, along with Coughing Dragon Fireworks, and other such items. She also shows a keen interest in any alchemical items they might possess, though admits food might be just as valuable.

Josie nodded, "You guys step aside, Veleron, don't take anything. We're leaving this worm for the elves to deal with. I'll do my best to talk to the elves, now let's head out. And don't make another attempt at that gesture, you look like a half-cat frog."

She moves her cart and has her Crodlu herd the other carts out of the way. She pulls out her some tea, and begins to brew.

Josie has 200 Ibs of potatoes, 200 Ibs of beans, 200 Ibs of cheese, 20 ibs of flour, 90 turnips, and 50 cups (?) of mead, along with 50 gp worth of spices. That's not including her goodberry stock, and her other methods of extending her rations. We should have more than enough.

"WELL YOU'RE A BIT TOO LATE, OUR BIG BUDDIES JUST GOT IT." she said, gesturing to the the half-giants, still as big as the worms, "SO HOW ABOUT YOU COME AND TAKE THIS, WE'LL SIT DOWN A LITTLE DOWN THE ROAD AND HAVE OURSELVES SOME TEA, AND SEE WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT THIS."

She gestures to her Crodlu and Familiar to gather the stuff she'll need to make a cup of tea.

"Oh heaven's sake, more Elves?"
She drags herself up, and pulls out her launching crossbow, still loaded with Full Ice, and takes aim.
"STAY BACK, OR I WILL SHOOT. she cries to the approaching elven armada, "THIS WILL BURN THE SKIN OFF YOUR FLESH!"

"Why in the blazes are you letting him do the work, grab a knife and cut it up yourself. You're the one who finds sand so lovely, you'll just grind up any you find."

She sighs, and gesters for her Familiar to help him while she gathers the now scattered carts with her animal companion.

Some questions on Animate Dead- What undead do I have access to? Can I choose any undead I desire? Can I create Skeletal/Zombie Troops (Using the ability scores of the troop creature's stats, and just upscaling HD and replacing it's damage with Troop damage appropriate to its CR?
