![]() "Thank you, Brinya, may you find comfort in his words, and in the memory of his deeds and spirit. We will do what we can for you, and for Rodrick. We are in your debt." Jorani speaks gently to Brinya, and then readies himself to follow the others to their next destination. To the temple of Iomedae? ![]()

![]() Jorani nods, ”Aye, Magnar has the truth of it. It seems more likely than not that he was murdered. It must be a terribly difficult time for you, but please try and remember anything out of the ordinary that may have transpired recently. We seek justice, nothing is inconsequential in that quest.” ![]()

![]() The events of the morning brought Jorani out of his stupor and his mind into focus. This was no time for a hangover. ”Aye lad, we’ll investigate for you. I can’t say we’ll get to the bottom of it - Golarion is filled with uncountable magics of obfuscation, but we can put our best foot forward and try. You were with him last night, when was the last time you saw him? We need to establish a time of death so that when we get suspects we can determine whether alibis are reliable. We don’t think he killed himself either, it doesn’t seem likely.” ![]()

And after his fifth drink, Jorani is too drunk to continue. ”Hah, you’d think they would teach you how to hold yer liquor at Bard school ... then again, I never went to bard school, hic!” Jorani is drunk and begins to pontificate loudly about the relative merits of one type of stone vs. the other, which is only interesting to him. ![]()

![]() ”Of course, I think we’re all happy to help. In the meantime you may want to post some extra watches on the walls in case there’s trouble. You can never be too careful. As I mentioned, I’m new in town so I’ll follow Magnar and Geim here who seem to know a bit more about the town than I do.” Jorani smiles at Rodrick. To the party, later:

![]() Jorani notices a bit of the tension, and interjects ”Orc trouble or otherwise, I expect that we could lend a hand. As for the information being confidential, I think you probably know that dwarves are folk that can be trusted. We are steadfast like the stone which we sprang from, even if it makes us stubborn sometimes.” He smiles at Rodrik. ”What can we do for you to prove this?” Take 10 on Diplomacy (+4) for a total of 14

![]() Jorani brushes some of the mud from his clothes and laughs. ”Well, that WAS fun. You folks have a good festival here. I am just a well-armed historian, hoping to learn more about the world. I had planned on being here a few days only, but these folks seem to have some important business and I figure I might be able to help them.” Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 Jorani will pass along what information he knows from the knowledge (local) when the party is alone. ![]()

![]() Jorani whispers to Kilien, ”Kilien, just let me know if you’d like me to take the lead on talking, otherwise I’ll just back you up. I know how to lubricate conversation from time to time - but this is your message.” Jorani will aid with diplomacy as requested, or can make the checks himself if asked. His helpful trait provides +3 if he successfully aids. ”Magnar, I see you follow Torag as well. Funny story - I was going to be a priest but... I guess I didn’t have the spark. I still serve him as best as I can - his blessing is reflected now in my connection to the stone itself, it seems.” Jorani pulls out a small holy symbol from beneath his shirt and smiles. ![]()

![]() Jorani is slightly taken aback by the rapid-fire developments. An orc attack is imminent? ”It sounds like we are getting conscripted into a different sort of engagement. When did your elders expect the attack? And do you know anything else about their numbers, direction, or strategy? Suffice it to say - we'll have to explain to these folks that the festivities should be put on hold.” Jorani attempts to remember the geography of the area, and tries to use that information to remember any other dwarven-orcish battles that had occurred in the past to find parrallels to their current situation - maybe they could use this to their advantage. ![]() Jorani takes in the ritual and makes a mental note to record the intricacies of how it works. Ceremonies like this are uncommon in most communities, even those found at the edges of what people normally call civilization. He smiles at the invocation of “Trunau Forever” and claps politely. A curious town, full of brave souls. If only we could all have such courage. With that thought and as the ceremony comes to a close, Jorani notices the gaggle of dwarves that have come together in the square. He approaches the group and raises his hand in greeting, ”Good evening, it’s a rare thing seeing other dwarves around here. My name is Jorani and I came in on a merchant caravan recently... what brought you here?” ![]()

![]() Sorry, forum has been down for me. I meant to post this a week ago! You’re right about disruptive, sorry! That said, I qualify for combat feats as a full-BAB character (which probably confused me) so that does open up a fair number of options. You definitely should not take combat reflexes as an actual feat - I plan on having it up for most fights (until I get something better). My level 2 feat will probably be power attack. At level 6 I can have two up at the same time. I will take lingering performance as my level 3 feat, as well, so we should have a ton of rounds per day of free feats. There’s also a masterpiece that would allow me to pass out a teamwork feat (I don’t recall the name) which we can have as up as well. With regards to the FCB - I strongly considered it but it seems like a big investment and loss of skill points in the short term. Instead, I can just buy celestial armor (theoretically) around that time and call it a day. No penalties for casting, no penalty to attack (the “counts as light armor” line means that it doesn’t require proficiency to use :D). It’d be great if we could get item crafting going at some point, as well. I can totally take UMD as time goes on. That was my plan, but do you think it will be valuable at level 1? I was going to take enough to get to auto-success on wands but if we are using touch of law for it, maybe fewer ranks are important. I might take a drawback too - not sure about that yet. I am happy to use myth-weavers as well. ![]()

![]() Jorani actually has stealth (he has a little bit of an ACP with non-masterwork armor). Regarding feats, I was planning on taking a few different combat feats, like disruptive and teamwork feats, and maybe we can be dynamic with the bardsong a bit and choose feats based on the foes. Talking about Torag will be fun! I thought it would fit for a failed priest to become a bard/historian. I will grab a mithril buckler when I can so that I can get a bit of defense, unfortunately bards don’t get much in terms of armor. That said, I’d take opinions on sticking with the dorn-dergar or dwarven longhammer. I don’t know if the option to switch reach is necessarily worth losing the damage and crit multiplier. |
