M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

I could keep playing if we can find a new GM. Maybe we could get a 5th person. Sorry to hear of your troubles Greaek, I hope everything works out!

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

”Aye, ‘tis very strange, if we see the guard, we can bring it up.” Jorani readies to move on with the party.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani takes a whack at the remaining wolf.

longhammer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
longhammer damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 1) + 3 = 9

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Longhammer aoo confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
longhammer crit extra damage: 4d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 2) + 6 = 18

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Thanks did the reminder. I’ll roll them just in case.

possible longhammer attack of opportunity: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
longhammer damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5) + 3 = 12
possible longhammer attack of opportunity: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Knowledge(local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani nods, ”We’ll get to the bottom of this, rest assured.” and he follows Magnar’s lead.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

"Thank you, Brinya, may you find comfort in his words, and in the memory of his deeds and spirit. We will do what we can for you, and for Rodrick. We are in your debt." Jorani speaks gently to Brinya, and then readies himself to follow the others to their next destination.

To the temple of Iomedae?

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani nods, ”Aye, Magnar has the truth of it. It seems more likely than not that he was murdered. It must be a terribly difficult time for you, but please try and remember anything out of the ordinary that may have transpired recently. We seek justice, nothing is inconsequential in that quest.”

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Jorani bows solemnly to Brinya, ”Our deepest condolences, Rodrick was a good man. It just ... doesn’t make sense, does it?” he says, trying to console her with his words.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Knowedge (local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani nods and prepares to go with Magnar and Geim.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

"Did anything else happen in town that is different? Was anyone acting differently or did anyone else disappear or arrive recently?

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

"Let's go see Brinya then, I'm ready when you all are." He turns to Kílien, "This may even be part of the attack - or it may just be bad blood. We have to determine which."

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

The events of the morning brought Jorani out of his stupor and his mind into focus. This was no time for a hangover.

”Aye lad, we’ll investigate for you. I can’t say we’ll get to the bottom of it - Golarion is filled with uncountable magics of obfuscation, but we can put our best foot forward and try. You were with him last night, when was the last time you saw him? We need to establish a time of death so that when we get suspects we can determine whether alibis are reliable. We don’t think he killed himself either, it doesn’t seem likely.”

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani follows Kurst when the party is ready.

There he tries to engage Kurst in condolences and conversation
"Horrible business Kurst. Just horrible. Let's share a drink... what could have caused such a terrible event? He was so happy last night." Jorani tries to comfort Kurst by trying to make sense of the situation.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

”Well, that solves the problem of telling Kurst. Should we try talking to him now or wait until later?” Jorani asks the party.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

”Aye, seems to me that there’s trouble in Trunau. There’s no other explanation for the note. Do we contact Kurst, well... first?” Jorani shakes off some of the sleep and inebriation he’s been feeling.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani wakes up, blearily, at the sounds of screaming and commotion. He quickly readies himself and makes his way to where he hears the sounds. ”Rodrick... what happened?” He surveys the scene.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani participated happily in order to grease the wheels of further social encounters.
”Bottoms up, ladies and gentlemen! and he raises his mug and has as many drinks as he can stomach.

Round 3, DC 10, Hardy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Round 4, DC 11, Hardy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Round 5, DC 12, Hardy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

And after his fifth drink, Jorani is too drunk to continue. ”Hah, you’d think they would teach you how to hold yer liquor at Bard school ... then again, I never went to bard school, hic!” Jorani is drunk and begins to pontificate loudly about the relative merits of one type of stone vs. the other, which is only interesting to him.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Does the racial save bonus "hardy" apply to alcohol?

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani nods in agreement "Aye, I'm amenable to a bit of drinking myself. It doesn't seem likely that the hordes are at the gates at this very moment, so it would be good to get to know these folks. Lead the way, Rodrick"

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

”We are almost always interested in getting a drink, but let us do our investigation now while we can. See you soon.” Jorani smiles at Rodrik.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

”Of course, I think we’re all happy to help. In the meantime you may want to post some extra watches on the walls in case there’s trouble. You can never be too careful. As I mentioned, I’m new in town so I’ll follow Magnar and Geim here who seem to know a bit more about the town than I do.” Jorani smiles at Rodrick.

To the party, later:
”I don’t know much about trolls, but I do know they’re powerful. I doubt they’d have snuck into town. Nevertheless, we should be on guard.”

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani notices a bit of the tension, and interjects ”Orc trouble or otherwise, I expect that we could lend a hand. As for the information being confidential, I think you probably know that dwarves are folk that can be trusted. We are steadfast like the stone which we sprang from, even if it makes us stubborn sometimes.” He smiles at Rodrik. ”What can we do for you to prove this?”

Take 10 on Diplomacy (+4) for a total of 14
If we help them, then they’re probably more inclined to listen to our warnings.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani brushes some of the mud from his clothes and laughs. ”Well, that WAS fun. You folks have a good festival here. I am just a well-armed historian, hoping to learn more about the world. I had planned on being here a few days only, but these folks seem to have some important business and I figure I might be able to help them.”

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Jorani will pass along what information he knows from the knowledge (local) when the party is alone.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani whispers to Kilien, ”Kilien, just let me know if you’d like me to take the lead on talking, otherwise I’ll just back you up. I know how to lubricate conversation from time to time - but this is your message.”

Jorani will aid with diplomacy as requested, or can make the checks himself if asked. His helpful trait provides +3 if he successfully aids.

”Magnar, I see you follow Torag as well. Funny story - I was going to be a priest but... I guess I didn’t have the spark. I still serve him as best as I can - his blessing is reflected now in my connection to the stone itself, it seems.”

Jorani pulls out a small holy symbol from beneath his shirt and smiles.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani is slightly taken aback by the rapid-fire developments. An orc attack is imminent?

”It sounds like we are getting conscripted into a different sort of engagement. When did your elders expect the attack? And do you know anything else about their numbers, direction, or strategy? Suffice it to say - we'll have to explain to these folks that the festivities should be put on hold.”

Jorani attempts to remember the geography of the area, and tries to use that information to remember any other dwarven-orcish battles that had occurred in the past to find parrallels to their current situation - maybe they could use this to their advantage.

Knowledge checks:
Geography: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
History (Dwarves): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani has been updated per the recommendations other people provided. Now he boosts aid another a bit more, and has the blooded trait (with the pride drawback) because he might as well - he's from Janderhoff. I also changed to the longhammer and shortspear setup.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani takes in the ritual and makes a mental note to record the intricacies of how it works. Ceremonies like this are uncommon in most communities, even those found at the edges of what people normally call civilization. He smiles at the invocation of “Trunau Forever” and claps politely. A curious town, full of brave souls. If only we could all have such courage. With that thought and as the ceremony comes to a close, Jorani notices the gaggle of dwarves that have come together in the square. He approaches the group and raises his hand in greeting, ”Good evening, it’s a rare thing seeing other dwarves around here. My name is Jorani and I came in on a merchant caravan recently... what brought you here?”

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Sorry for the delay I didn’t notice any gameplay posts!

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Sorry, forum has been down for me. I meant to post this a week ago!

You’re right about disruptive, sorry! That said, I qualify for combat feats as a full-BAB character (which probably confused me) so that does open up a fair number of options. You definitely should not take combat reflexes as an actual feat - I plan on having it up for most fights (until I get something better). My level 2 feat will probably be power attack. At level 6 I can have two up at the same time. I will take lingering performance as my level 3 feat, as well, so we should have a ton of rounds per day of free feats. There’s also a masterpiece that would allow me to pass out a teamwork feat (I don’t recall the name) which we can have as up as well.

With regards to the FCB - I strongly considered it but it seems like a big investment and loss of skill points in the short term. Instead, I can just buy celestial armor (theoretically) around that time and call it a day. No penalties for casting, no penalty to attack (the “counts as light armor” line means that it doesn’t require proficiency to use :D). It’d be great if we could get item crafting going at some point, as well.

I can totally take UMD as time goes on. That was my plan, but do you think it will be valuable at level 1? I was going to take enough to get to auto-success on wands but if we are using touch of law for it, maybe fewer ranks are important.

I might take a drawback too - not sure about that yet.

I am happy to use myth-weavers as well.

M Dwarf Inquisitor 1

Jorani actually has stealth (he has a little bit of an ACP with non-masterwork armor).

Regarding feats, I was planning on taking a few different combat feats, like disruptive and teamwork feats, and maybe we can be dynamic with the bardsong a bit and choose feats based on the foes.

Talking about Torag will be fun! I thought it would fit for a failed priest to become a bard/historian.

I will grab a mithril buckler when I can so that I can get a bit of defense, unfortunately bards don’t get much in terms of armor. That said, I’d take opinions on sticking with the dorn-dergar or dwarven longhammer. I don’t know if the option to switch reach is necessarily worth losing the damage and crit multiplier.

At the moment I plan on having combat reflexes and bodyguard up for my bardsong eventually. Is that good for everyone? If so, please ensure that your character can take aoos with a gauntlet or something!

Thanks so much, Alias made. Ready to go!
