Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"You are right, we must see whether there are any more to be dealt with."

Jeorik readies himself and follows Istas.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"We're going to need to take the doctor with us, if he lives, so he can make a full confession. Also the maidens need seen to, until we can sort out what's what. They were just doing their duty, as they saw it. We should tend to their wounds as best as we can, but until we have made our report, word of this combat should be kept as quiet as possible."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Heeding the cry of his allies, Jeorik changes targets and targets Davaulus with his next arrow, calling on his god to help him.

Arrow attack, with smite evil: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Sorry, lots of traveling the last few days.

Jeorik is hit twice, taking 14 points of damage.

He fires again at the first archer.

Arrow Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

I'll post my next attack as well (same target)

Arrow Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Jeorik moves five feet to the west (h6) and looses an arrow at one of the archers (k8).

Arrow Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Thinking to himself that things went downwards fast, and weren't we going to try and pull the doctor away from the guards, Jeorik moves to draw an arrow, shouting, "Hold Maidens! Do not attack the Queens Men!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Jeorik moves to assist Keliwyn, "Rest friend," he says, as he watches the maidens in case they decide to attack.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Jeorik speaks up finally, saying increduously to the doctor, stepping forward as he does so, "Do your nurses always draw swords on patients? This seems an unusual form of care."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Jeorik stands behind the other two for the moment, allowing them to do the talking as he takes stock of any potential combatants in the area.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

A cleaned up Jeorik follows close behind Heather.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"We might do better if we took an hour to go home and change our clothes."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"Whatever we do, it should be done quickly. At this point I'm in favor of less sneaking around, personally. Just go in there and see what's what. If we stir things up directly, fine. If not, we can see how it shakes out. If nothing else, we can interview Davaulus politely and then invite him to come with us to the guard to help with an examination of things we have found in the river. If we can pull him away from his support, the questioning might go easier."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"I guess we are back to the original plan then," says Jeorik, "In through the front door, request an interview and play it by ear?"

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"That is far from smart," Jeorik warns, "Our business in all likelyhood does not concern you, nor are we actively seeking a fight, we merely wish to ascertain whether you stand with those that would bring down the city. If you wish to make us enemies, that is your call."

Jeorik readies an arrow attack against any charge.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Sorry.

Jeorik readies his arrow and takes a step towards the man tapping, moving into the front.

"Istas is correct, how do we know they are not in league with the ones we seek," he says to Kenan, "Its bad tactics to let yourself get flanked. Let us give them a chance to be reasonable."

Ahead of him he says, "You there, stop that tapping and come forward. We are on official business for the city! Hinder us at your own peril. Surrender now and answer our questions!"

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Jeorik concentrates to see if the man seems evil.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Jeorik will take move just behind Emerion as support, bow at the ready.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Intelligence: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Jeorik moves along with the rest of the group, an arrow at the ready on his bow. As the pipe gurgles he makes sure to move far out of the way of any potential "water" which might flow out.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"Is the plan to go in through the sewers now?" Jeorik says as things are explained to him, "I thought we were going through the front door in order to question our suspect? Do we want to split up with some going in from below and some from above? Of course that might make things more complicated in the long run..."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

None here.

"My suggestion would be to have Emerion don the physician's mask and slip inside. The rest of us...especially Kenan and I...should request an audience with Davaulus out of professional courtesy. Then, we can question him about the ship's log book having his name on it. And if he knows anything about a Lady Andaisin and just read his reactions. Jeorik and Heather can accompany us as retainers, official Guard representatives, etc. And, once our interview is over...regardless of what we learn...we head back and pick up Emerion on our way out to see what he's learned about the hospital while we were distracting Davaulus."

"I am not sure we want to let him know the nature of the evidence against him. Perhaps, just let it be known that his name has come up in our investigations and we need his side of the story. No need to mention the log. As we question him, we can examine his honesty and his reaction. But we should also be on our guard for violence; if he is guilty he may do something rash."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Jeorik spends the evening writing up a report. He drops it off when he goes to visit the Citadel in the morning.

Istas Wraithscar wrote:
"Then see to it Endrin is made aware of all you've seen and heard here."

"I'm sure that our friend here will make sure Endrin is well informed, even as I am sure he picked the very best man he had to check up on us," says Jeorik with a grin, "though I would more humbly suggest that though we will do as much of the heavy lifting as is possible, we do not know how many there are in this plot and I, for one, am more than happy to see as many as possible take a righteous stand to aid us."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"I hate to state the obvious," I say, "But it is possible that this is more than just a religious plot. If all the plague came from Cheliax, it is possible politics are at work and someone is just using this cult of death for some other ends. I may not be well versed in the subtleties of politics, but where Cheliax is concerned, one should not discount politics and religion co-mingling."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"As we know we are looking for Urgathoa's church, we could try briefing the guards in tell-tale signs and symbols of the church. If we can find a few of the living followers, we might be able to follow them back to their leaders. And then there's the coffer we took from the ship. We should make sure its not enchanted or some such thing, and see what else we might learn from it. Other than that I have no real suggestions but that we remain alert for further leads."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Knowledge (history): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

The quote completely misses Jeorik but he catches the names of the two officials.

"I'll write up a report. And rest assured it will contain only the facts, no speculation as to cause. In the meantime, I'll be happy to assist with any further invistigations that need to be made. Urgathoa's followers are a reputedly nasty lot and I would be happy to clear them out from whatever hole they've found refuge in."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"We are overlooking our biggest lead here, we have a name: Lady Andaisin. Is it possible to find a woman with this name in the city?"

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Wordlessly Jeorik moves to the indicated location.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"There is also the unholy icon worn by the corpse we pulled from the wreck. Thus our desire to see what more we can learn."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"The Marshall thought we would do better to have two witnesses over her one and recommended these two good gentlemen to us. They have her full confidence and thus, I am sure, ours."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Jeorik, after some thought, agrees to the two witnesses, so long as the Marshall feels she can trust them.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"Istas thinks that she can have the dead tell us who sent them. The man was clearly a member of a death cult and might be able to tell us who is behind this plague. We just want an official witness beyond ourselves as to what he says, as there is a possibility that there is some connection to someone in the Queen's physicians."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

When did that happen, Jeorik wonders somewhat bemusedly as he realizes that he has indeed become a regular part of the guard.

"I'll go get the Marshall," says Jeorik and he makes sure he understands where to meet the others in the Grey District and then he goes to make a report and fetch the Marshall.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Assuming we get a cart, Jeorik helps load the bodies aboard and drive or push it.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Jeorik agrees with the idea of doing things as openly as possible (bodies in the open). Less sneaking means less likely to get caught and look suspicious.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

I doubt we need to worry too much about the salvagers wanting the body, but if we wrap them secretively, they may wonder what we are hiding. Better to be open about taking them from the wreck as evidence. Or alternately, claim the hag as evidence and that we plan to bury the sailor properly.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"It does seem that way," says Jeorik.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Jeorik stabs again at the eel.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Guessing that's good enough to act...

Jeorik, when he sees the summond creature moves in to attack the closest eel.

attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Jeorik keeps an eye peeled for more sharks, as he assists.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Ten to fifteen minutes sounds good for me.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"Lets see whats in the lower hold then and afterwhich do a quick check of the bow."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"Are we done down here? If so, let us take this body back to the Marshall and allow it to be, uh, questioned there."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

"If the Pallid Princess is involved, we may have more than just disease. Her servants are not always alive."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"Some of you seem to have a rather strong urge to play with dead things," Jeorik comments with a wry shake of his head and a bemused smile, "You might check his pockets."

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

I once more adopt a position of support, moving behind Emerion.

Male Human Fighter 3/ Paladin 2

"That's all very well and good, but if you remove the mask in that way, what use will it serve us later? Seems like an awful lot of effort for no actual benefit. Its not like you can bring it to court later and claim you found it at the bottom of the river, not after working to make sure that nobody knew you found it at the bottom of the river. And if we have to testify, the word of witnesses is going to stand with or without the actual mask, which detractors would just say we had taken from one of the actual healers."

"In the meantime, shall we search the rest of the ship to see if there is evidence of anything else?"
