Jazmine looks around, stunned at the sudden turn of events.
"Thats it? We proved ourselves!? Thank the gods!" she exclaims. Getting a hold of herself and their situation, she sobers quickly. "Umm.. what I mean, Ma'am, is that I did not expect the truth to win out quite so well! The Pathfinders will be happy to work with you in the future!" She can't help but gush as her enthusiasm once again wins out.

Turning to her companions, she gives them all a quick and impulsive hug. "I can't wait to get back!! I hope to see all of you around the lodge, and that we get assigned together again at some point!" She rushes back to the barracks, taking a moment to thank the few other members that they have gotten to know along the way. She packs her things and with Giggles in tow, she begins to head for home.

Awesome job, all of you.. as always. I have enjoyed playing this scenario with everyone here!

Sorry, had to travel for a few days. Between travels, family time, and Dr appointments, posting time was scarce!

After muttering a few words, Jazmine steps forward and clears her throat. "Ma'am. You may remember me as the guard that stopped you the other night in the casino. The reason I stopped you was that we were sent there to stop the infiltration of the casino by a known con and thief. The captain here gave us this sketch and description of the supposed target, which led me to question you. I believe that this was an intentional misdirection designed to embarrass our team in front of you." With this, she hands over the sketch and description received during their briefing.

Jazmine nods her head, considering the Oread's story. She turns a stern eye to him and says "I can accept your apology, but only if you do what is right to make amends. Words are useless.. actions are what makes a persons legacy. We are being investigated for allegations that Captain Othis brought against us to General Faiza bint Hanif. Will you go with us to tell the General your tale? If you do this, I will speak for you that you came to us with this information and we can see if we can get you off the hook. We need help here, and it seems that your story may prove some of our assumptions." with a small smile, she nudges him with an elbow and continues "You were, after all, following the orders of a superior officer with a history of violence and improper behavior! We can set a couple of tallies right.. yours and ours."

Jazmine is tired and weary when she enters the compound after the escort trip, and in none too good of a mood even before she sees the note pinned to their door. "Allegations?! HEARING?! They are out of their bloody minds.. maybe these people really DO have rocks for brains.. no offense, Blood Eagle.. But this is the last straw. I don't know about the rest of you, but they are going to get a piece of my mind tomorrow, you can bet on that!!" she continues to grumble as she slams into the room and begins to put away her kit. "This has been a set up from the very beginning on their part, while the Pathfinders really think that they can accomplish something here. I can't wait to pass on my report about our treatment here!"

She follows her fellows to the chowhall, hoping to take her mind off of things for a bit with a full belly and then some time with Giggles. I have got to get her back home and into the sun.. she thinks. Hell, we both could use some time in the sun running around the forests before we head out again..
Her musings are interrupted as she sits down with her food to hear Rogan and Blood Eagle questioning the other soldiers. After swallowing her bite of the passable food, she chips in as well.
"Not liking most people is one thing.. setting up fights between recruits and giving one side poisoned weapons is another. Or piling rocks on top of obstacle courses.. or giving bad intel on simple missions. I stopped General Faiza bint Hanif as a disguised thief at the casino the other night, because the Captain fed us her description instead of our real target. I think I managed to smooth things over, but you never know. Now we are being called up to a hearing and investigation. Please.. this could sabotage relations with the Pathfinders and this entire Plane. Help us if you know anything at all.."

I tried to post last night, but the site was behaving erratically for me and I barely got my own games updated. Anyways, I agree with Blood Eagles arguments at the top of this page wholeheartedly. I think we all agreed at the time that searching the Captains office would be entirely too big of a breach of conduct for a trainee in a political situation like this, especially on the flimsy premise that "She doesn't like us".

I read the reviews about this scenario and was kind of concerned, but I feel that you have done a good job of keeping us on track and pointing us where you could. If the rolls were too low or we chose (for whatever reason) not to take the bait, it was not due to you at all.

As for the blame.. I feel that the captain makes herself a suspect with the constant derision and poor leadership. Obviously she has a chip on her shoulder, and ultimately as our commanding officer she is responsible for most of the things that have happened. Obstacle course? Not exactly her direct line of control, but she should be able to know that rocks falling on trainees and greased logs wasn't normal. The bad intel at the casino came directly from her, as well as the intel on our last mission. If she's not directly responsible, I believe she knows who is, and is complicit.

Jazmine drops her bow and dashes into combat with the elemental, drawing her elven curve blade as she goes. She moves around Rogan and brings the heavy weapon down on the elemental with a fervent battle cry!

Well, hell. Not enough room to get in there and mix it up..

"Hold, Giggles.. Attack if there is room!"
Jazmine cries out, clawing for her bow. As she does so, her hair changes to the yellow and black stripes of a tiger, while her face elongates into a feline muzzle. Quickly, she puts arrow to string and sends it at the nearest elemental attacking the caravan.

During one of her passes around the camp, Jazmine notices some help is needed with the beetles and quickly moves to assist.

Jazmine and Giggles roam about, even as the rest of the caravan stops to rest the beetles. During this times, she roves around the stopped group, maintaining her vigilance.

Jazmine makes sure to stop and get uniforms for the team to wear over their armor before they leave the training complex. Enroute to the destination, Giggles spends the trip running to and fro seizing her second opportunity to experience the city and get out of the cramped training grounds. For a creature so used to the vast forests, this trip is really taking its toll on the little dino.

When they meet Nef and Annie, Jazmine greets them with a bow. "We are sent here by the Underground to help make sure you make it to your destination safely! Its a pleasure to meet you!" With that, she makes the introductions and does her best to start things off on the right foot. "What is this creature??" she says as soon as it polite with a gesture towards the agrawgh. "I have never seen its like!"

When we get under way, Jazmine and Giggles can scout as well. Take ten for both.. 20 for Jazmine and 15+ Scent 30' for Giggles

Jazmine and Giggles join the group for the Captains brief the next morning despite Jazmines headache from the festivities. However, she agrees with Rogans straightforward tactics.

"With all due respect, Captain, we have surmounted every obstacle you have thrown at us, despite the odds being manipulated against our team. It seems to me that either you're not really trying to hold us back too hard and this is all an act, or we are the best damn recruits you have ever had in this place. How about you level with us and tell us whats really going on?"

Jazmine bows as the casino chief grants their reward. "It is our pleasure, sir. I hope we have represented both the Underground and the Pathfinder Society well during this mission, and hope to work for you again!"

Exiting the building with Giggles bouncing along at her heels, Jazmine looks to her companions. "Well, we weren't told specifically to report back after being released.. but the Captain will surely expect it. What say you? A drink or two at a tavern, or early to bed and early to rise?"

Keying in on the conversation, Jazmine and Giggles turn to face Inysha. "We were specifically instructed that you were not to see the inside of this establishment. I trust my companions here when they say you are full of deceit, and no leniency shall be given. You shall leave right now.. either of your own power or under ours."

Jazmine keeps a small distance while Rogan sorts this one out. She keeps her eyes on the rest of the crowd, but her ears on the conversation next to her just in case.

Jazmine finishes with the General and gives her another bow as she notices Rogan appear in the foyer. She moves quickly in behind Rogan, scanning both the rest of the room and the new target.

With a bow, Jazmine returns the identification to the Djin, and says "My thanks, General. You of all people know how important security is. I thank you for your time and patience. If there is anything we can do for you, just say the word ma'am."

Once the General turns away Jazmine returns to her post to keep an eye on the lobby. She has no way to recall Giggles, so she simply waits until the others show before letting them know what happened.

Jazmine leads the gnome over to the side, well away from other guests. "We are just doing random security sweeps, making sure that no riff raff gets in to ruin the night! Would you have any identification or invitation on your person?"

Sorry to be so forward.. I didn't really anticipate being the one to see her. I just reread the orders, and they seemed to be pretty emphatic that we not let her into the building at all. Otherwise, I would have tailed her and waited until we could all move at once.

Jazmine thinks for a second, then shakes her head. "The most I could do would be to summon a creature that could come get you, but I don't think I could send a message that way.. I like your idea of roving around though. And I can cast detect Magic that would let us see if there are any magical disguises being used." Turning to their guide, Jazmine questions "What are your policies on magical items in here? If there are no restrictions on what people bring in, it may make such detection harder with all of the back ground magic of people coming and going."

Turning back to the group, she continues. "I think Giggles and I would be useful in the foyer, but its up to the group if you would rather us be on patrol."

GM: I know that a number of people have different interpretations of the Entangle spell. What are your feelings on the effectiveness of this spell within the casino? I do not see any potted plants or anything listed in the room descriptions, but we are underground where it might be conceivable for seeds to be latent.. Your call.

I had assumed that we were pretty much locked down outside of training, chowhall, and quarters and I really didn't know what else or where else to go. Its not like we have had too many interactions with the other trainees, so there would be no reason to think that they would either help us or would know anything more than we did. I agreed with Blood Eagle's observation about leaving the Captains quarters alone, and for both of the same reasons. That left just moving along with the flow and progressing as the GM desired. I know that's the lazy way and not a tack that I often take, but in my head I really do see us almost in a Basic kind of situation. Locked down and separated from the rest and just trying to do what we are told when we are told to do it.

I understand that obstacle courses are supposed to be hard and test your abilities, but piling rocks to fall on our heads, then poisoning the blades of our opponents is a little much. I agree with you Rogan.. I know that different people train different ways, but this is ridiculous and dangerous!"

Jazmine takes a seat in the corner of the bunkroom, idly scratching behind Giggles ears as the dino lays across her legs. She looks around at her team and gathers their attention before asking "Did anyone else notice that the Captain was hiding something? We need to figure out what in the nine hells we have actually gotten ourselves into here.. "

Jazmine keeps her back turned to the theatrics as she ministers to the wounded of the fight.. even the fallen Oreads. She agrees whole heartedly with Blood Eagle, but keeps her tongue as he requests.

Once her ministrations are complete, she calls Giggles over for a very well deserved hug and rubdown before they return to their quarters.

Jazmine rushes over to her fallen comrade and begins to quickly chant over him. A glow surrounds her and Giacomo, as her magic helps heal what is left after Bloodstones Channel.

Then she turns to Helga and begins inspecting her wounds as well.

As Giggles hamstrings and drops their opponent, Jazmine rushes over to help Bloodstone with his opponent. I am assuming keeping the same rolls from last turn.

This round:
Jazmine gives another whistle for Giggles to attack, and Giggles runs south across the arena to charge into the fray there. unforrtunately, the dino misses her attack.

Jazmine continues to fight the Oread with Bloodstone, sidestepping to the side to get a better angle.

Seeing her friend move into place, Jazmine slides to her left, lining the oread up between herself and Giggles before lashing out with her borrowed blade. She grimaces as once again, the weapon slides past her target.

Giggles is not on the tracker, but I assume since you rolled her initiative she will go with Helga after the recruits?
Also, do you want me to use the -4 nonlethal penalty for Giggles or assume we were able to wrap the claws somehow?

Jazmine hefts her practice sword a few times as she and Giggles moves into the practice arena. This is going to be harder without being able to shift like I always do.. she thinks, planning how differently she and Giggles will have to move and respond. She kneels down next to Giggles, and begins tussling with her. "Play time!" she repeats several times before pointing out the opponents in the ring. Friends! Play time! No blood!!"

Once the order to begin comes, Jazmine gives a cool glance towards the oreads surrounding them and salutes with her sword before charging in. While moving, she gives a sharp pattern of whistles to Giggles. She swings at the red cloaked opponent with both hands, but manages a meager swing.

I believe that I owe all of you an apology for my erratic posting this week. It has been a rough couple of weeks on the homefront, and this week has seen a number of upsets to my normal schedule. Hopefully, things will have settled out and I can return to a more normal pace, both in life and in my gaming.

Over the next few days, Jazmine and Giggles manage to fall into the routine of their new environment. They awake each morning, make their bed, then choke down the cruel imitation of food that they are served for breakfast. Jazmine works hard at doing the best she can, and quickly adapts to the schedule, including Giggles as much as she can. During the evenings she sits with Giggles playing various games to keep the dino amused. Fetch seems to be the creatures favorite, as she tirelessly chases random thrown objects through the room and hallway. In fact, she becomes a bit of a bother after a while, as she happily returns anything that anyone tosses, be it trash into a bin or a personal item tossed onto their bunk.

Jazmine sighs in relief, and drops back into the ranks, laying a hand on Giggles ruff for comfort.

Jazmine straightens and looks the Captain in the eye as she is called forward to answer the first of the "easier" questions. She racks her brain for a moment, then replies.

"I know that most combustible materials burn on average at 1,100 degrees in the natural world. This is, of course dependent on what is burning. If you are talking about creatures of fire, I imagine that they are somewhere between 1,600 and 2,200 degrees."

Jazmine shuffles up the stairs of shame, hurrying over to the shore. One look at the water tells her that she will be unlikely to make it with her heavy armor in her tired condition. Thinking quickly, she whistles for Giggles and begins doffing her intricately made mountain pattern armor. She secures the armor to Giggles back so it doesn't get left behind, and immediately begins shifting her form once more. Using the last of her shifting abilities for the day, she takes on the shape of a frog to aid her in her endeavors then jumps in. At first, things are going very well, but her strained and tired muscles just can't get her all the way across the quarry before she begins taking on water like a leaky sieve. Crying out, she begins to go under splashing and lurching around for anything to hold onto for a few moments before she gets herself under control and doggy paddles in the rest of the way.

Jazmine hesitates, helping Helga to her feet before taking off for the wall just after Rogan and Giacomo.

GM: Does the Attack roll have to meet our AC? Or is there a Reflex save allowed? Or is it just auto damage?

When she reaches the wall, she is just in time to meet the shower of rocks from above. Crying out, she throws her arms above her head, hoping to ward off the worst of injuries. Shaking the dust from herself, she looks upward and suddenly her body begins to change once more. Hair begins to sprout as he arms and fingers elongate into the limbs of a monkey! She makes her first attempt at the wall, but quickly slides back down. Swearing, she casts a quick spell on herself and everyone else below the wall and then takes off again, just barely making it this time. Turning, she reaches back to with Rogan to help the others climb up behind her.
