At a young age Cyrus always wanted to sail on ships, but his anger usually left him dry-docked instead. When Cyrus was about ten years old he finally decided to make the decision for himself and an old Captain he had been refused by many times to join his crew. So doing what any young man eager for adventure would do; he hid in a barrel. Only a few miles out from harbor Cyrus was found out, taken to the Captain, flogged for being a stowaway, and cast overboard. Much to the surprise of the Captain, who thought the young boy would swim back to shore, Cyrus swam after the boat getting more and angrier with himself for not being able to catch the ship. Then suddenly he began to gain on the boat and kept at it for a few moments. Impressed with Cyrus’s determination the Captain fished him out of the see and made him a cabin boy. For the next thirty years Cyrus has been working on the Captain’s ship and families ships. When Cyrus was 28 he was given the job of Boatswain or second in command of a ship and has been doing the job of a first mate ever since. Cyrus had hopped this last journey would have proven himself able to lead the crew enough to be given a ship and crew of his own to Captain, but alas that was not to be. A giant squall hit his ship breaking the mast with its first large gust sinking the ship. Cyrus had hopped to save his shipmates but found the storm more powerful then he was. He awoke on an island with strange creatures and has set out looking for more survivors from the wreck. Only to realize he had been poisoned by something and passed out hopefully to be picked up by kind strangers.
Now all Cyrus has of his Captain is a gift he was given before they set out to sea. He had worn it proudly when they sailed from port. The breastplate was made from a strange metal that had been the cargo a few months back and was given as payment for the safety of the shipment. Cyrus cut a strong figure at the top of the gangplank with his strange weapons and shiny breastplate, but he would have it no other way. He found that the strange weapons complemented his large stature and his more barbaric nature. He found the tribes from the south deserts had the idea with their lethal curved blades that add just enough exoticness to them for his taste.
