Scarab Sages

Hello.
So, I just wanted to make sure, if someone where's full plate no matter what their Dex is they only get a +1 from it due to the max dex bonus on the armor right? Is there anyway to get more from your dex to your AC if you wear full plate?

I'm just being inquisitive,
I feel like people are just going to throw their characters into stupid or dangerous situations now. Some people have a feeling that their character isn't going to matter so who cares? In doing this, that player may put the rest of the party in danger by pissing off a lich or
jumping on a dragon. Are people hearing things like "my character just doesn't care anymore?" or "I'm just going to Leeroy Jenkins this."
I've been hearing stuff like this a lot lately, personally I'm not really against it. I understand of the feeling of kind of giving up. What kind of concerns me is if this happens, the player won't be punished. And, if they are it probably wont effect season 2. Also, new players that might want to come in to PFS may have this as one of their first experiences and it might leave a sour taste in their mouth. I just thought I'd bring it up.

Heya, I made this chart cuz I've been really into making charts lately. Hope someone finds it helpful.
It has DayJob, Scroll Cost, Spell Casting Services, Prestige vs. Item Cost, and other stuff.

Scarab Sages

Hello.
So the Magical Child archetype for the vigilante gives you a familiar with your vigilante level = to your wizard level.
The Eldritch Guardian also gives you a familiar where your fighter level = to your wizard level.

Would the abilities for the familiar stack? Or, would I have to pick a familiar for one class and only take the abilities for one of the classes?

I'm thinking of making a co-operative trip build with a familiar and I think this combo would help a lot. Any advise would be appreciated.

Scarab Sages

Duettist bard gives you a familiar.
Arcane Duelist gives you a bonded weapon at a later level specifically stating: "At 5th level, an arcane duelist gains the arcane bond ability as a wizard, using a weapon as his bonded item. He may not choose a familiar or other type of bonded item. He may use the hand holding his bonded weapon for somatic components."
Will this get rid of my familiar from Duettist?

Scarab Sages

So according to the magus' description they can put a spell with "a range of"touch"" into it's weapon. I'm guessing it has to be a "melee touch" spell?

Scarab Sages

Tattooed Mythic needs Craft Tattoo 5 ranks, but I know crafting is illegal.
Could I take skill points in it and just not use it? I ask because I don't think the prestige class itself isn't illegal... so how else could you take it?

Scarab Sages

This is for PFS
So say you're a sorcerer going into dragon disciple. Requirements for dragon disciple are minimal. 5 skill ranks in knowledge arcane and the ability to cast non-prepped first level spells.

If you are building a character say:
5 sorcerer, 1 dragon disciple

Could you pay to retrain your sorcerer levels into dragon disciple since you know have enough skill ranks? As long as you keep 1 level in sorcerer?
1 sorcerer, 5 dragon disciple

Are there notes on this? is it posted somewhere? Because, how it's read it seems possible.

Scarab Sages

So say you take an Improved Familiar at whatever level, upon taking it does the familiar level up to your spell casting level or does it start at it's base states?

Scarab Sages

So I have a build in mind
1 Tattooed Sorcerer/X Arrowsong Minstrel
With Tattooed Sorcerer you get a familiar that goes into a tattoo.
I'd like to take improved familiar when I have 7 levels in bard to change it.
The rules to Improved familiar state you must have levels in an Arcane Spell Caster = to the level necessary to take the improved familiar.
Nothing in Improved Familiar states you must have your arcane levels in the class that granted the familiar.
Would this work? There is no clarification. I'd like opinions if you got 'em.

Scarab Sages

So I have a multiclassed caster Arcane Duelist Bard/Tattooed Sorcerer
One grants a familiar, one grants a bonded item
Could I have both?

Scarab Sages

So with arcane and divine caster other people on the battlefield can tell.
Is there a way to detect occult classes that are mostly psychic?

Scarab Sages

I'd like clarification.
If you have a character in a current Faction, are you not allowed to get old faction boons from the early seasons?
Like Osirioni and Scarab Sages.
I've had GMs do it both ways so I wanted to know.

Scarab Sages

SO, I'd like to run an atheist Aasamar Cleric
Is it legal? (Yes I have the Aasamar boon.)
However, I was told that you had to worship a golarian god to let your cleric have powers in PFS. Is this true?

Scarab Sages

Asking for a friend....

Scarab Sages

So i'd like to enlarge my animal companion with the spell enlarge person and improve spell sharing.
However, I was told that because the hunter's companion comes from a divine class, and enlarge person comes from a arcane class, it would not work.
Is this true?

Scarab Sages

I wanna know.. .

Scarab Sages

So I'm trying to find a builf for an oread student of Stone.... and god this is not a super great archetype.

Does anyone know hoe to make this better?

Any archtypes or feats that would help?

Scarab Sages

With spell sharing can I cast enlarge person on my companion? Or do I have to wait for the later level spell specific to animals?

Scarab Sages

So I have a hunter with a constrictor.
I know that she gets a free grapple when she hits with the Grab ability.
But on the following turn, what can she do? I've gotten conflicting answers.
From what I understand she can either:
Release the grapple and get another Atk+Grab
or
Maintain the grapple (at -20!!) and get her constrict damage.
But I've been told she can Atk+Grab+Constrict... just looking for a little clarity.

Scarab Sages

Alright so I have a character with natural claw attacks and a bite attack. Right now when he does a full attack action each is at +5.

But, I'd really like to do bludgeoning damage on all three attacks, not just the bite.

So, could I take unarmed strike to turn my claw attacks into punches? Would my bonus still be at +5? Or would my bite attack then become a secondary attack?

Scarab Sages

Sap Master Rogue states that you double the sneak attack dice on a flat footed opponent.

Scout says "whenever a scout makes a charge, her attack deals sneak attack damage as if the target were flat-footed."

So, if you combined the archtypes would this work? While charging could you do double non-lethal damage? The wording is a bit strange so I wanted some clarity.
So far I've left it up to gm discretion but my PC is getting to a level where casting vanish every turn just isn't effective....

Scarab Sages

I realize the sipping jacket can only use potions that have a round by round duration, but it also states it must be a potion.

Does this make alchemy extracts illegal use in organized play? Even if the extract being used could be a potion, but since the alchemist created it, it's an extract?

Has their been a ruling on this?

Scarab Sages

Hi. So I've been trying to build a student of stone monk but it's severely under powered later levels. It's a strength based monk due to an interesting item I got on a chronicle sheet that x1.5s the strength and gives you the unarmed strike of a monk of 3 lvls higher. Still, the build just isn't quite right. Any suggestions?

Scarab Sages 3/5

Hey. I was wondering if someone could provide any sanctioned information about being allowed to do day job checks during modules. I've been told you could and I've been told you cant. I really need a clear answer.

Scarab Sages 3/5

So, when the party makes it to the final map, the encounter in the middle. (The one with the fey that does the 3D6 AOE) How does a lower level party survive that? Even it's moral says to use it multiple times. With an average of 9, how does a small first level party survive long enough to take it out. I was just wondering what other people's opinions on it was.
