As Talon tends to Cole...

The darkness around Cole fades, as he is abruptly drawn backwards, away from the light at the end of the tunnel he was in,

"Yes. Your time is not come."

and Cole awakends to a burning sensation that slowly restores the worst of his wounds.

WB Cole! You now have 8 hit points.

At first, darkness.

Then, something. anything...implies consciousness! And, memory. Violent memories. But - no pain; no emotion.
A presence? Yes. And, a voice. Softly. Gently.

Cole:
"Hello, Human Cole Adams... You're... early."

Is surprise even possible in this place? It seems so.

"I see you now. Do you see me? Yes, there. There, at the end."
A shape, in the light. And, a path leading towards the shape. 8 more steps on the path; somehow, one step already lies behind you, fading into darkness.

eventually...

purgatory:

Unexpectedly, a shot of adrenaline surges through Aerent, and just as suddenly, you see Havelyn moving away from you - and only then you realize, that you're the one doing the moving. One step towards the dark. Apparently, darkness it is for you, then?

Havelyn looks at you with a frown.
"What is this?"
He looks at the light, at the end of the tunnel.
"Why is he allowed to return? Surely his goals are not as worthy as mine. Or would you go as far as to say his religion is better than mine?"

vs DC10: 1d20 + 2 - 6 ⇒ (14) + 2 - 6 = 10
Havelyn is stable at -6 hitpoints.

"*chuckles* Oh come now lord Thomas. Tell me you did not honestly expect us to sit by and let him slip away?"

The shape at the end of the tunnel detaches itself. If only fear existed here; then the description would be so much more colorful! The creature drops its disguise and calmly, but surely, moves towards the paladin.

While Lord Havelyn looks from Aerent to the devil and back, with a look that shows clearly he does not comprehend the trickery of what is happening, Aerent slowly but inevitably moves towards the dark exit, feeling stronger by the minute.

The bone devil ever-so-slowly extends its many distorted limbs at (and around) the paladin, pinning him in his grasp. Pleasantly, in an almost conversational tone, it lays out the future for the Paladin of Sarenrae:
"Come now, sir Thomas of Havelyn, feeearsome knight of the light; our Prince has many a special place for little boys like you. But first, for the next few years or so, I will extract your soul, and you will make such a fine offering..."

The Osyluth and its prey plunge towards the depths, Havelyn screaming all the way down...just as Aerent reaches the last stone on the path to Darkness...

...Aerent wakes up wide-eyed, screaming.

Purgatory:

Both spirits move another step towards the light.

Come along now gentlemen; hop hop. I regret to inform you that I have many more clients today, thanks to this gentleman's (nod to Aerent) admittedly impressive efforts.

Purgatory, sense motive DC18:
The environment is draining all forms of emotion away from you, but you do believe the entity is impatient - almost rudely so.

Light? in the darkness? Another presence.

Yeees, it was always going to be a busy day today.Welcome, sir Thomas of Havelyn. Your presence here is...interesting. If you'd kindly stop shining, your light is nigh extinguished. If perchance you would look to your right, you might see a familiar face.

Aerent:

Suddenly, another path of stepping stones appears right beside yours. The new path also leads into the light ahead, or into darkness behind, just like yours.
And, on the stone right beside you, so close you could touch it, another presence. Kneeling. Unarmed. Wearing shining armor, and an ethereal sword stuck firmly in its back.

Ahead, the light; Behind, the light; above, heaven. Below? the Lemure pit...

The familiar face mentioned by the first entity would, of course, be yours. It appears you're both at -5hp. You could roll to stabilize; but at -5hp, you have some time yet. But what would you rather do..?

Aerent finds the voice and the light irresistable, and finds himself another step closer to the light.

Aerent:
So strong - yes. A great soul. Aerent Sephim of Fiendish Furcas, the light calls you, I can see it. There is no fighting here. I understand if you choose to come to the light.

At first, darkness.

Then, something. anything...implies consciousness! And, memory. Violent memories. But - no pain; no emotion.
A presence? Yes. And, a voice. Softly. Gently.

Aerent:
Hello, Aerent Sephim. I see you now. Do you see me? Yes, there. There, at the end.
A shape, in the light. A path leading towards the shape. 8 more steps on the path; somehow, four steps already lie behind you, quickly leading into darkness.
When you are ready, you may proceed.
