Male Aasimar DEAD
Male Aasimar DEAD
Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10.
Horus looks to the others.
"Well, that was an interesting experience; it sounds like there is some greater plot afoot. I wonder what is so important about this cache, that it was worth causing so much death and destruction for it..."
He then sighs.
"Come on - let's go get this lady's brother, and head back to town."
Male Aasimar DEAD
In that case, I will drop as well.
Male Aasimar DEAD
I could go for CORE.
Obviously, I would need to change PCs ;-)
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus frowns.
"Is the theft what caused Asar to return? What did the amulets look like? Could this Iramine be responsible?"
Male Aasimar DEAD
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus nods.
"Glad I am to see that you are still among the living. Your brother was beside himself with terror over what had happened here."
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus nods in satisfaction.
"Ra's will is done."
He then moves into the centre of the room, and channels (to heal).
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 1.
Huh. Apparently, Ra is only interested in destroying the undead ;-)
He then nods in the direction of the flame.
"Let's get what we came for."
Male Aasimar DEAD
Man this guy is a pain!
Horus remains resolute, determined to bring the undead monster low.
"The power of Ra COMPELS you!"
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 damage. DC 19 Will for half, once again ignoring channel resistance.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Noting that the undead fiend seems to strike reasonably hard, Horus once again channels the power of the Sun-God.
"The power of Ra compels you!"
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7. DC 19 Will for half, once again, ignoring channel resistance.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus winces when Helm is disarmed, but nevertheless stalwartly raises his holy symbol, and intones:
"The power of Ra compels you!"
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 damage. DC 19 Will save for half, as always, ignoring Turn Resistance.
Male Aasimar DEAD
"Those look kind of important..."
Reaching a decision, Horus casts Bless before the doors are opened.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus breathes a sigh of relief.
"Well then, let's find our missing woman..."
He then gingerly moves back into the long room to explore where the bats came from.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus channels...
1d6 ⇒ 2
Male Aasimar DEAD
I am pretty certain that you mean *Helm* and Rygel, right?
Hoping to take advantage of the alcohol-covered bats, Horus moves forward, and tosses an incendiary flask at the swarm.
Alchemist's Fire: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16, for 1d6 ⇒ 4*1.5 = 6 Fire damage.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9.
Horus, bleeding from many small bites, staggers away from the swarm.
Male Aasimar DEAD
With one swarm dispersed, Horus continues to hustle forward.
Double move.
Male Aasimar DEAD
@Helm: Sadly, no - Bat Swarms have more than 10 hit points...
Male Aasimar DEAD
Yeah, in a party that *doesn't* have an alchemist, two bat swarms at level 1 is nasty. Probably doable, but nasty...
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus frantically hustles around for a better view, drawing an Acid Flask as he does so.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8.
Horus, too, runs off.
Male Aasimar DEAD
With a shrug, Horus carefully moves over, and attempts to turn the wheel.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus holds his holy symbol high.
"Return to your eternal sleep!"
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 damage. DC 19 Will for half.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus breathes a sigh of relief when the last frog goes down.
"That was surprisingly dangerous!"
After checking out the body...
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13.
...he moves to explore beyond the door out of the room that he is currently in.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus frantically attempts to finish off the frog, before it can swallow Pioni!
MW Cold Iron Morningstar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23, for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 damage.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus nods his thanks to Rygel, then tries to finish-off the frog that bit him, and just tried to attack Rygel!
MW Cold Iron Morningstar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18, for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 damage.
Male Aasimar DEAD
More bemused than annoyed, Horus tries to beat the frog over its head with his Morningstar.
MW Cold Iron Morningstar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15, for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 damage.
Male Aasimar DEAD
"I would recommend against resting in this room," Horus notes dryly. "The first room on this level noted that the area to south was a place to rest; perhaps we could have a look there?"
Male Aasimar DEAD
Unperturbed by the howling corpses, Horus once again channels the divine might of Ra!
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 damage. DC 19 Will save for half (once again, ignoring channel resistance).
He then takes a careful 5' step back, hoping to lure then forward.
Male Aasimar DEAD
With a frown, Horus moves forward, and channels to harm the remaining zombies.
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, DC 19 Will for half. Again, ignoring channel resistance.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Not able to get in on the action, Horus delays.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3.
With a shrug, Horus cautiously heads east.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus turns to the others.
"Do we want to finish exploring this level, or just head straight down?"
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus frowns.
"The last lot were not dripping with blood, though..."
Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13.
Nevertheless, he, too, holds his holy symbol high, hoping to destroy the vile undead.
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7. DC 19 Will for half. Once again, ignoring channel resistance.
Male Aasimar DEAD
@Dr. Rygel: It was all *non-lethal* - you are fine, albeit unconscious ;-)
Male Aasimar DEAD
"Hmmm... That doesn't look good..."
Suspecting an arrow-based trap, Horus carefully pulls out his 10' pole, and, whilst shielding himself with the door, attempts to trigger any possible trap.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19.
"Interesting... both Kassen and the mercenary leader wear similar amulets... perhaps they were related?"
With a shrug, Horus moves to investigate whatever lies around the corner...
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus tries to unlock the door. If successful, he pushes it open, to see what lies beyond.
Male Aasimar DEAD
With a shrug, Horus tries the key that he retrieved from the fire room on both of the doors that exit the current chamber.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus breathes a sigh of relief when the shadow dissipates.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21.
Just as he is preparing to leave the room, something catches his eye, and he picks up a scorched key from the edge of the fire.
"I wonder what this opens?"
Pocketing the key, he then moves on to the next room.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus, unperturbed by the creature's attempt to sap his strength, simply forcefully presents his holy symbol again, and intones in an even louder voice:
"By the Holy Light of Ra, I command thee to wither and perish!"
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 damage, DC 19 Will save for half.
Once again, no channel resistance.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11.
"That," Horus intones, "is a shadow; an incorporeal form of undead that exists only to sap the strength of the living..."
He then raises his holy symbol high.
"The Power of Ra compels you!"
Channel Positive Energy (to harm undead): 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 positive energy damage. DC 19 Will save for half.
Note: The shadow does not get to add its channel resistance to this save, and as a positive energy effect, it does full (not half) damage to incorporeals...
Male Aasimar DEAD
"Whether it is natural or not, I doubt that it is meant to be here..."
Horus moves forward to a flanking position, and takes a swing.
MW Cold Iron Morningstar: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 2 = 19, for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 damage
Male Aasimar DEAD
"Fair enough. Good luck!"
Horus then back-tracks to the next door, and tries his luck with it.
Let's see what is behind... Door No. 2!
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus gives the man a comforting pat on the shoulder.
"Fair enough. Do you want to wait in here, or outside, until we are done?"
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus raises an eyebrow.
"Why, pray tell, will we need to go for a swim...?"
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus frowns.
"Snap out of it, man! We do not serve the Dead - we have come from town! If you want to get back there, pull yourself together, and tell us what happened!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16.
Male Aasimar DEAD
With a shrug, Horus pulls out a crowbar, and attempts to jimmy the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8.
Strength: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 = 21.
Male Aasimar DEAD
Horus nods in the direction of the moaning door.
"Shall we see what foul undead beast lies beyond...?"
Male Aasimar DEAD
Noting the numerous traps in the area, and the fact that there is more than one lever, Horus carefully conducts a search of the area, hoping to plot the locations of any remaining traps, and/or switches.
