Kelgan, I'd say it depends on the DM's rule, but you should get a reflex save with DEX 0, so DEX mod -5. A high roll might still see you through some of the damage, but it's not looking pretty.

"M'til, can you channel anymore?!", shouts Horster, seeing Kelgan badly cut up.

How long would it take Horster or Morgan to scurry up the walls and distract the bandits?

Horster's snuck on as well. No time for mucking about with bows on this thing. He draws a dagger in his offhand and makes sure his rapier's within reach, but not drawn in case he needs the hand to keep balance.

As a GM you can modify the story/difficulty without your players knowing if you want to avoid a bloodbath. Anyway, let's roll with it... (pardon the pun) :)

But don't take it as too much criticism - we're all enjoying this :)

Not necessarily, but making them all the more suggestive to say by whatever means possible might be better than just putting the words into a PC's mouth... ;)

If we go along with Horster saying the words, I'm sure he'd do so only after warning his friends that some stuff may go down so that they would be prepared to react. Halflings are curious, but Horster used to be a spy and knows when to control his impulses.

He goes up to the only other person around that's his height, pats the gnome on the back, asking, "And how are you feeling after all that, Lorcan?"

Horster carefully puts his lock-picks back into their case, taking his time so as to look all the more professional. His curiosity then gets the better of him as he casts a look at the gems and birds.

Horster fumbles about his pouches to produce a set of lock picks that have been stored neatly in oiled leather even though they haven't seen much use of late. He gets down on one knee while mentioning to Crom, "These should hopefully do the job, but remind me to pick up some better ones (masterwork) when we're back in town, seeing as I now have the cash...", and then as an afterthought, "...if we do make it out of here that is, hehe." With an uneasy laugh, he begins to work at the locks.
