Sorry about the delay Malvoisin; my answer would have been to go ahead and pull my name, but I saw you already made your selections for that campaign so it works out :) Zoo; I was wondering if you would be ok with me playing a Human Beguiler or Druid? If I play the Beguiler- I'd Switch to Wizard next level and at level five go into the ultimate magus prestige. If I play the Druid, I'd just advance in druid levels through out.
It can be kinda risky because of the amount of damage it can deal; but I've had a lot of luck and fun with the Harpoon detailed in the Stormwrack book. It's a thrown weapon (damage: 1d10) that has a range increment of 30 feet and has a rope attached. If it hits, the target must succeed on a reflex save (DC = 10 + the damage dealt) or the harpoon becomes lodged in it. A harpooned creature moves at half speed and cannot run or charge and its movement is restricted by the length of the rope. I once played a Goliath Fighter And used Monkey Grip and Brutal Throw to toss Huge Harpoons at opponents. I had two of them on the ends of sixty foot ropes with each rope tied to my waist. It made catching and reeling in baddies really easy…. But I did unintentionally drop a few with the damage I was putting out.
@Russell If what you are saying is that an Empowered Fireball Heightened to level 5 only takes up a 5th level spell slot, your wrong. The Heighten spell feat is a variable adjustment that is still added to the total adjustment of other metamagic feats. Thus Heightening a spell from level 3 to level 5 is a +2 and when added to the +2 of empowering a spell would result in a +4 adjustment. An Empowered Fireball Heightened to level 5 takes up a 7th level spell slot. You could specialize in evocation or take spell focus (evocation) and then take the feat Metamagic school focus (evocation) and then take the feat Thesis Spell (selecting Fireball)...
