Backstory:
Cedric Lombardi doesn't talk about his past, though few would ask him even if they wanted to know. His unearthly grace, pallid complexion and penchant to stay below decks on sunny days has caused speculation and fear amongst the crew that Cedric is a vampire. Most of the crew are wary of him as a result and that fear earned him the nickname "Chills". Captain Saul of the Wind Reaper took Cedric on as a favour to Cedric's stepfather (another Free Captain by the name of Wexxel) and he knows that Cedric isn't a vampire. Saul uses Cedric to sow doubt in his crew. A "vampire" underling makes one appear to be a feared and powerful leader. Cedric was named Second Mate upon boarding. Unfortunately, the plan almost backfired. After a string of bad luck on Cedric's first voyage on the Wind Reaper, the crew blamed Cedric and started a revolt. The mutiny failed and Cedric proved his usefulness in the melee, single handedly wounding and killing close to a dozen men. The First Mate walked the plank, Chills was named First Mate and the surviving crew continued onwards. The night following the failed revolt a gale hit the Wind Reaper and snapped the main mast - another ill omen. The Wind Reaper limped into Port Peril for repairs and her crew took some time ashore. Cedric found himself in the Formidably Maid and events unfolded...
