Personality Traits: Hedge is extremely calm and patient, thanks to the teachings of his monastic life. He took well to monastic life and has an innate reverence for his fellow man, especially those he feel have demonstrated greatness. However, he is also feeling the urges of youth, and does not know if he can live the rest of his life in monastic seclusion. He is exceedingly cautious as an extension of his inner struggle to avoid the temptations of the outside world.

Gear: As pictured above - A hunting outfit composed of shoulder wraps, pants, and drape with binding straps. The colors are the greens and browns of the forest surrounding his monastery. The monks of the monastery are master hunters and martial artists of the Hei Senlin (Dark Forest) style. The outfit is traditionally worn for both activities, and serves as effective camouflage when in the forest. Hedge purchase shiruken of burnished copper or bronze, to blend in with his outfit. He keeps a dozen of his shiruken in his forearm sleeve wraps, a dozen in his belt, and eight around his ankles. His remaining shiruken are stored in pouches. The sleeve wrap straps have quick-release buckles which can be opened for easier access to the shiruken.

The kama hang from the belt. They are not magical and are much more rudimentary than those pictured, but solidly crafted.

He lingers for a while after, pondering his renwu as dawn slowly creeps across the land. He thinks back to the day his renwu was assigned. "Every man has a hero somewhere inside him, even those who pay this hero no mind," said his Grandmaster. "Here at the monastery, we practice a silent heroism, the heroism of one who makes life honest and true for for his brothers."

"But not all heroes are silent," continued the grandmaster. "Some heroes seek out injustice and try to right wrongs for those who cannot do so themselves. For you to know what type of hero you shall be, you must understand the choices available to you."

Hedge remembers the Grandmaster's voice growing louder and more imposing, capturing the attention of even the sleepiest of monks in attendance, as he made his final proclamation: "This is your renwu, young Hedge. You must leave the monastery and seek out heroes of another sort. Study them, and learn what type of hero you will be. When you know the answer, you may then return."

"Or not, if your path lies elsewhere..."

Hedge has come to admire his fellows in the Sandpoint Saviors, and even appreciate their eccentricities. But what has he learned about himself?

He prefers a thoughtful, careful, and structured approach to life's challenges, but the group has proved many times that instinct and decisive action could lead to success.

He prefers to to act from a moral high ground, but has found that morality was often fluid in the outside world.

And mostly, he has learned that his own preferences were much more flexible than he thought they would be. Many times now he has found himself caught up in the action, giving little thought to the monastic way of doing things. There is a part of him that enjoys the chaos and just wants more.

But is this the real Hedge, or simply a lack of discipline? Is this who he wants to be, or is he taking a path that would lead to some darker place?
