About Hanzo Belkin

Hanzo Belkin
male human (Taldan) unchained rogue (knife master) 3 CG
hgt: 5’7 wgt: 125 lbs
eyes: green
hair: black
age: 21

Appearance:

Hanzo

No matter how tidy Hanzo tries to keep himself, he always gives the impression of being a down-on-his-luck soldier of fortune. His charming grin and roguish good looks may give him an advantage with the ladies, but his stubbled cheeks, disheveled hair, somewhat threadbare clothing, and well-worn equipment make him less welcome in the nicer areas of Cassomir.

Background:

A scruffy ne'er-do-well by appearance, Hanzo ekes out a living on the edge of disastrous poverty. Living hand-to-mouth and one day at a time, and never one to look too hard at an opportunity so long as it offered a payout, he leapt at the chance to earn some real cash by working for Silas Gribb.

Previously, he had taken all manner of odd jobs, not all of which were strictly legal. Hanzo was a bright lad, and sucked up knowledge and skills like a sponge even as a child, ranging from learning languages from the wizard's apprentices he cleaned up for (and the halflings he worked with), to disabling nobles' traps for his petty criminal buddies, to repairing the armor of nobles, to learning to put a blade where it hurt in the back alleys of the city. But there was no getting away from the fact that he'd been born on the wrong side of town, and his jobs never led to the kind of life that he'd grown up hearing about in the tales of adventure that he greedily devoured.

For the DM:

Hanzo isn't actually destitute, but he does owe some bad people money. In his teenage years, an ill-advised heist resulted in a wounded and angry sorceror, resulting in those involved dropping dead, one by one. Scared and desperate, he turned to more serious criminals to make the trouble go away. Only it didn't go away - it just changed ownership. Now he spends his days desperately trying to pay them off, and his nights sweating about what will happen if he doesn't.

But it's true that he leapt at the chance to work for Silas. Not only would it give him some cash, but it would get him out of town, give things a chance to cool down. Plus, he got a chain shirt out of it - sweet!
