T_T I hope he comes back. I've been considering whether I want to run a module on the boards, instead of by PBEM like I'm used to. Never used the boards to GM before. Maybe I'll consider this one.
Hanzo just shook his head at Stone with a grin as he went back to searching.
Hanzo sighed in relief as the wave of healing energy cured his wounds. He slapped Stone on the back companionably and grinned. "Nice trick! I hope you've got more of that hidden away in case there are more demons upstairs."
"I'll take that offer too," Hanzo was quick to say when he heard Stone speak of healing.
Hanzo, who was slightly less worried about Thomas, took the opportunity to look around the room in case there was something small and valuable lying about.
Welcome back! No worries on my account. RL always comes first. I do hope we get to finish the adventure, though!
EDIT: Oh, just read the game post. LOL! Good job, Thomas! :D Do you need healing, Sheaorlis?
Hanzo muttered a curse and dropped his bow in favor of his daggers. "Don't come any closer!" he yelled, not so sanguine as Sheaorlis.
"Careful an arrow doesn't break that circle," Hanzo advised, nocking an arrow of his own. "It's probably the only thing holding it back. It must be more dangerous than the other one, to be trapped in there."
"We can't just leave it here," Hanzo said. "It could get out and kill somebody. I'm with him," he jerked a thumb at Sheaorlis. Then he put away his daggers and drew his shortbow.
Let's go left and see what's around the corner, I wouldn't want to leave a danger behind us.
I assume we're all going with Sheaorlis?
Hanzo cleared his throat, stepping up when Jori took too long looking around. "Let me have a look at that."
"All clear!" Hanzo pronounced. "Let's see what's behind here."
"I can't believe it wasn't guarding anything good," Hanzo mourned. "I got stabbed for nothing? The Baroness ain't paying us enough to fight demons. What else is down here?"
Hanzo grinned at the half-orc. If he'd still had his daggers in hand, he would have spun them. "Yep, no matter how powerful you are, a dagger in the heart will seriously cramp your style."
Hanzo watched the demon for signs of trickery, almost not believing his own eyes, even though he'd felt the knives go in to the hilt. Then he wiped his daggers off and re-sheathed them in his sleeves. This was one fight he wasn't going to forget! "Think I can get a painter to make a picture of me with this thing?" he joked, planting a boot on its head. Chuckling, he then went about searching its disgusting body for loot. Surely things from other dimensions didn't count as "things in the wizard's mansion" that they couldn't take.
Praise all the dice gods! :D Now I hope that second attack actually hit too...
Hanzo circled the demon, watchful and ready to leap in at the earliest opportunity. He'd been in deadly knife fights before, but this was the one that counted.
Hanzo was sweating. How could he get out past this thing?! He'd barely gotten in! He made another attempt to put it down.
But he was too nervous to strike where it hurt.
Glad you're alright, GM. I'm doing all right, relatively. I'm fortunate enough to be able to work from home, but like you, I'm pretty busy. The stay at home order is making it hard to get groceries, too. I hope everyone else is doing all right too!
weh weh Having zigged when he should have zagged, Hanzo was seriously reconsidering his career as he stared down (or rather, up) the enormous devil. That thing took down Thomas wihtout a sweat! I should run, he thought frantically - but he was already in the room, with no way out but through the monster. Lunging forward in desperation, he did his best to find a weak spot to exploit in the thing's defenses.
With a curse, Hanzo let his daggers drop from his sleeves to his hands, and prepared to fight, moving to flank the monster.
Hanzo waited for the all-clear to go ahead with searching for traps and then picking the lock.
GM: I wasn't saying Hanzo should take 20 to disarm the trap, I just thought you said that his searching the hallway for traps earlier took a long time. But thanks!
Hanzo nodded thanks for the warning to Stone, and went about checking for traps again, more carefully this time.
"I agree. Let's be careful moving on, though." Hanzo went ahead and checked for traps in the hallway, heading for the south bend. LOL. The RNG hates Hanzo.

"Makes no difference to me, since there's nothing to gain either way," Hanzo grumped. He eyed the little caged bird. Would anyone miss a tiny silver charm?

"Makes sense," Hanzo agreed, releasing Mathezic from his beaming grin. Still, he did have more questions. "How did the Witch Tower stop your master from using his observatory? Even if it was in the way in one direction, surely he could use it in others? And who is "we?" Are there more servants here, maybe hiding like you?"
"I think our new friend here might remember more if he were to come with us," Hanzo said with a toothy grin at Mathezic, ignoring Joriannika's aghast look. "Isn't that right, friend? You of all people should know how Hunclay used to think." After Jori elbowed him, he sighed and relented a little. "At the very least, you can draw us a map and mark the dangerous spots on it. But that IS the least. What you should do is come with us. After all, you don't want to walk into town alone, a known associate of that traitorous wizard. What you want is people with you who can vouch for you, and tell folks you weren't a part of his plan to attack the town with kobolds. And we'll be happy to do that... once you've helped us out, here." Nice! Anyone want to do an Aid Another to push it over 25? *g*
"We're here to assess what's left of the place for the Baroness," Hanzo told him. "It would sure be a help to us if you'd be willing to come with us, tell us what to avoid."
"I'm Hanzo. C'mon, talk to us. What have you got to lose? Maybe we'll get you some justice for whatever the wizard did to you," Hanzo offered.
Hanzo, who had been wondering in Stone could really talk directly to his god, was surprised as Jori pushed by, without so much as considering the possibility of a trap. With a sigh, he joined her, but was ready to let his daggers fall into his hands at the first sign of trouble.
Hey Thomas, we need some brawn over here, Hanzo called back. "Door's blocked by something heavy. Maybe one of you other guys wants to try it?" Whoever arrived, he intended to help open the door.
"Kitchen," Hanzo reported back, before checking the door to the south, and the room beyond. He positively itched to pick up some of the silverware, but with his luck, Sheaorlis or Joriannika would report him for it.
He'll take the door on the right.
Is there a map for the wizard's house? I'm having a little trouble picturing it. Hanzo will check and peek past the nearest door, if there's no map.
Hanzo sighed dramatically, but made an affirmative grunt and shook his arms, loosening up his shoulders. "All right, but if a demon bites my head off, I'm definitely haunting all of you," he grumbled.

Sorry, everyone. I've been distracted because my mom suddenly fell ill. I should have some extra time to reply this week, though.
Hanzo grumbled under his breath, but cautiously ventured around the room, looking for anything dangerous or curious. "C'mon, Thomas. Let's see if there's things to not smash," he joked.

Traveling during a massive train strike, I hope I can get to the airport. Wish me luck guys!
Hanzo swallowed as he peered down into the pit. Holy... that could have been me! I did not see that one coming. "You okay, priest?" he asked, squinting into the recesses of the house. Who builds a pit in front of their own front door?!
Hanzo nearly turned to stone right then and there. Sheaorlis must be a gorgon. Surely. Then again, what were the chances there was anything living still in the house? ...That wasn't as comforting a thought as he had first imagined. "Well, no need to sneak in," he sighed, peering inside. "Who wants to go first?" He eyed Sheaorlis expectantly.
Sorry it's taken me so long to pick this up, guys. I'm feeling vaguely better today, so I'll try to catch up. Hanzo and Jori will both just get an ioun torch for emergencies, I guess. Just as an FYI, I'll be traveling next Saturday.
