Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

So shall we speak with this half-elf hooker?

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Hans whispers to Istyarian just loud enough for the goblin understand:

Oh Istyarian, I'm so glad you found a reasonable approach to this little spy here. I was afraid, we had to take the messy route again. And last time it was so much trouble letting the corpse disappear...

Intimidate-check:

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Hans follows Andros outside. As he sees him trying to make the goblin speak, he adresses Andros:

Oh no, not again! Do we have to make a mess of each prisoner? The last one looked so gruesome that even I hoped, we could skip the razor-thing this time...

That would be a Bluff-check. No roll here, because it is just an in-character example.

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Perception 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13

Hans hasn't noticed the stranger and reacts just that short moment too late to intervene.

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Hans turns to Lani. I could ramble a bit about damnation and hereditary sin if you like that more... But at least it is good to know, that someone can hold the line.

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Keep them away from me and I will use the fiery magic in my blood to let enemies fall like flies. But repetition: Keep them away from me - I am a Scholar, not a warrior. Ah... and don't take personal what I do on the battlefield... Remember: Not the dagger is evil, but the hand that uses it decides to what end it is used.

...and Hans takes care that his holy symbol of the Church of the Silver Flame is clearly visible at the right moment...

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Violent, eh? I like the "fight-fire-with-fire-aproach" most...

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Wonderful! Now my old red skin feels save enough! ...and as a devout believer in the Silver Flame, Hans will most certainly like a paladin much! :-)

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Yes of course he does. But nothing prevents a monster from just ignoring him and killing others first. Even Melee Training isn't usually enough, because skirmishers for example shift around you and just eat the yummy, red-skinned, horned ones in the backrow. :-)

Seeing the huge number of strikers around, (two and a half actually) it would certainly help a lot if one played a defender. I'd volunteer if nobody else does.

I guess no pure druid can develop the degree of stickiness to let the softer targets survive reliably. But I'd be glad to be wrong on this one. Hans' AC is pretty lousy and I guess others might have similar problems.

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Hans turns to Aramil.

Marvelous! My father used to say that a man, who wants to achieve something in life, needs three things: A loving wife, a sharp intellect and people who can get things done that can't be traced to anybody.

It seems to me that so far only the loving wife is missing.

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Hans has befriended Famica, because she acted friendly towards him, without the usual prejudices. One day, she saved his skin by hiding him from a band of mercenaries his parents have hired to bring him back to Sarlona.

My Lady, dear gentleman! My name is Hans Urian. I am skilled in the arcane craft. This maybe a rescue- or a revenge-mission, depending on the nature of Famicas disappearance. My hopes are that it is the first, but reality seems to have a knack to ignore what I hope. Is someone of you experienced in these investigation-things?

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Ah, nice! Let's do it that way.

Auto-Actions? Maybe everyone can state a specific auto-action. Mine would be...

auto-action:

When in melee and a shift isn't enough to get out of enemy-reach: Move, provoke aoo, use Elemental Bolt from save distance, preferebly on a bloodied target.
When in melee: Shift and use Elemental Bolt preferebly on a bloodied target.
Else: Use Elemental Bolt preferebly on a bloodied target.

BTW: I have made the first gameplay-post to introduce the party quick and dirty.

Male Tiefling Sorcerer (Fire-Elementalist) 1

Take a look at Hans, if you like.

I can act as the party-face, except for Diplomacy. We Tieflings don't do well with honest interaction!

Where does the Name come from?:
"Hans Urian" or "Herr Urian" is a name of the devil in german poetry and folklore. For example, Goethe used this name in "Faust".

Important questions:

How do we deal with Ini-Order in combat?
a) Waiting to post until it is your turn.
+ Combat is more transparent
- Combat takes longer
b) Post early and your action triggers at your initiative.
+ Combat is a little faster
- Some actions might be invalid at your ini-count
- More difficult to see what happened in which order

...and how do we deal with out-of-turn actions?
a) Only possible if you post at the right moment
+ Faster
+ Clear and transparent
- You might miss opportunities to use your powers
- Unfair to those who cannot check the thread often
b)May use later on
+ Fair for everyone
- slower
- may create potential to "rewind" some turns

Is a post-frequency of one post per weekday and one post per weekend acceptable for everybody?

Instead of the aforementioned Human Rogue, I submit Hans Urian, a Tiefling Sorcerer. I really like his background and he is much easier to play in a pbp because of the smaller number of immediate actions and stuff like that.

If you like I'd put your characters through the character builder and send you the sheet afterwards.
