Gwydion nods and grips the scroll case tightly in the crook of his arm. "Right, we are here to retrieve this and will not be corrupted from our mission from any of you."

"But as historians we thank you." Gwydion says as he accepts the scroll case. "Let's check that everything is in order...."

He opens the case and checks the contents to make sure this is the correct set of scrolls.

"Oh! Well, that's easy! Greetings and it is such a pleasure to meet you! We are the Pathfinders, a scholarly organization full of adventurers trying to preserve history and save the world. We heard rumors that you had a scroll case filled with the 29 prophecies of Lung Wa and we would like to make sure they are preserved and made available to future generations."

"So... just looking for the princess' quarters," Gwydion mutters as the group approaches the palace.

When he spots the ghostly woman ahead in the throne room, he stops in his tracks. "Ummm... what did she say?" If there is no objection, he slowly takes out his wand of comprehend languages and casts it then motions for her to repeat what she said.

"Great, but I can't respond to her."

Gwydion nods along. "Right. I'm familiar with the star patterns in my home country. Some of them are the same here, but we must have moved north or south; I feel a bit out of sorts. A star chart would be of great help, I think, and a map to help us find the way. As for when we should follow the sign of the dog... I haven't a clue."

Gwydion quickly taps himself with the wand and reads out a translation of the words in the sky before they fade away.

"Ice? No, I don't have any ice!" Gwydion shouts back. From the top of the mount he starts summoning extra help.

Gwydion accepts the wand with thanks and promises to put it to good use.

After asking around, Gwydion tells his companions a few things he's learned about what to expect. "We should certainly go at night; word on the street is that the guards tend to be a little more lax as they grow tired. We should expect guardians as well; either undead or visitors from another plane. Typically watchers also communicate with fireworks so we need to keep them from sending signals if they try to light anything."

Gwydion takes a shallow bow after the combat, trying to play up the crowd a bit as it seems they really enjoyed his quick and agile style of distraction to allow the other Pathfinders to do the real damage.

Gwydion pauses for a moment, his eyes moving up and to the left as he ponders the man's pseudoaphorism before smacking Gene in the arm and responding with his own. "And one who questions training only trains himself at asking questions."

Without much pause, Gwydion introduces himself. "Hello! I am Gwydion, servant of the Black and White. These are my companions. We are Pathfinders and friends of Mai Chun. We are looking for Yue Xin. Perhaps you can help us?"

Ugh! Sorry I missed that combat! That's a fun one. Even though we were on fall break last Thurs-Fri, that only means that I transitioned to working 14+ hour days on the farm. Finally we got some rain the past couple days and I was able to catch up on grading assignments and finally now catching up on PbP.

Thanks to the GM for botting me! Truthfully Gwydion couldn't have been that effective in that fight anyways, haha. But it's a cool RP fight that I missed.

Gwydion does not exactly exhibit the strength and power normally associated with an ogre, but he is quick and his mental discipline shows through during the training. He stays focused and does not become discouraged when his bigger companions best him in a spar. Soon enough his black-and-white robes are flowing about with grace as his small bare feet stomp and kick.

Gwydion hesitantly accepts the map and looks to the others for confirmation that he is doing the right thing. "I can't understand him but this is all we're after, right? Can we just get out of here before the Headmaster arrives? I'm starting to think that's the move we ought to take."

On the ground, Gwydion hesitates for a second. He does not want to harm the student but also can not think of a way to stop him without harming him. He shouts out, "Really now lad, we can get you something much better than what you've got if you jus' come over here and talk to us."

Gwydion's spell finishes and a border collie appears on the school grounds. Seeing Jianghong running about and others chasing after him, the border collie's natural herding instincts kick in and it starts trying to corral him in.

Meanwhile Gwydon ties a rope to the leg of a nearby desk and tosses the other end out the window. He takes a deep breath and shakily pulls himself out the window, trying to lower himself down via the rope.

Gwydion looks at the height and decides that he is not the strongest climber. Instead, he begins to summon something that will slow the student down...

"I don't yet know any magic to help us sneak. But I am rather small..." Gwydion offers. "I will come along, if I can be of any assistance. As for making a copy though... I'm not sure how to help there."

"Indeed," Gwydion adds with a bow to the headmaster. "I myself am a scholar and a servant of the god Nethys, who promotes magical knowledge. So you can understand our, and my, interest in your institution of learning. Could we be permitted to stay for a day, perhaps a few, to observe your students and peruse your libraries?"

"Nice to meet you," Gwydion greets Jianghong.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Gwydion follows along on the tour, nodding politely to any students or staff they pass along the way. "This looks to be a very well-funded and well-organized school. I am quite impressed. I noticed that there are guest houses; who should we speak with to stay here for some time? I would like to observe a class or two if that is possible."

"Mighty fine bear lair," Gwydion quips.

"I must admit, I have not studied much history of the eastern countries." Gwydion mutters. "I can't place the significance of this statue nor the spectre we saw in the courtyard."

"Anyways, let's check the southern rooms and maybe something will come to light."

Gwydion keeps trying to keep Chewyy from falling unconscious...

Gwydion draws a wand from his belt and reaches around the hedge to tap Chewyy.

Gwydion winces as the bear takes a large bite out of Chewyy. He rushes forward to try to heal the dwarf but his short legs can only carry him so fast....

The halfling in the black robe accented with white trim takes a deep bow and says, "Gwydion Flaxseed, at your service and the service of the God of Magic Nethys!"

"Pick up anything not bolted down... and bolted down?" Gwydion grins and nods enthusiastically. "Yes, this does sound like a job for the Pathfinders. If you don't mind, I can read through some of the maps, scrolls, and letters on the way back and give you my preliminary report. If nothing else it will get them organized and give you an idea of what we found before you tackle them yourself."

Gwydion sits on a chair with his hands folded neatly in his lap, absentmindedly kicking his legs back and forth while waiting for the briefing.

Gwydion takes a deep breath and lowers his crossbow, hooking it back into the sling on his backpack. "Well, Yargos," the halfing says to his fellow scholar, "I didn't know if we'd make it, but we did. Well done everyone!"

Thanks, GM! No problem on taking a little longer. I enjoy a slower game now that I'm a bit too busy to keep up with faster-paced play. I'll be there for the next one!

Gwydion starts whistling and casually moves around to the side of Nessian, leaving the warrior surrounded. He moves one toe out to the side and scratches something into the dirt when Nessian isn't looking.

Blast rune in the square south of Gwydion. DC 26 Perception for Nessian to notice it. If he moves over it, 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 fire damage

Gwydion moves up to Gene, keeping his crossbow hanging in one hand, and gives the half-orc a tap on the arm. "By Nethys, don't die on us!"

After taking his shot, the halfling quickly reloads his weapon and prepares for more.

Gwydion moves around to the side to get a better shot but stops to reload his crossbow.

Gwydion also moves closer to the action with his finger on the trigger of his small crossbow.

Gwydion stares down at his own hands and the mace that destroyed the undead. "I didn't know I could do that... I never thought I'd use this thing." he whispers in shock.

To Gene, Gwydion responds, "That sounds like a plan to me." He takes out his crossbow and loads it. "If the dogs do become a problem though, I'll focus on them."

Gwydion stops just inside the door to take in the strange sight of undead dancing on a giant organ. "I'll bring in some aerial support," he says as he starts weaving a spell.

Gwydion does not spend too much time thinking it over. "It sounds to me like we need to get to the cathedral right away and keep that song playing or we'll have something far worse on our hands. We should be able to deal with the Black Echelon at the cathedral; we have no idea how long it will take to find and execute the abort code."

Prudence cocks her head to the side and walks up to the riddle chest.

"Is it a dove? Or I suppose D O V E?" She speaks the last somewhat slowly, enunciating each letter and pausing between to make it clear.

"That sounds quite right to me!" Gwydion encourages.

Pointing at the first box with the devils on it Gwydion asks, "Now just how mad are we talking? I don't think I have the emotional range, nor the acting skills, to pull off something like that."

Gwydion spends a few moments studying each box in turn.

Hmm... a devil's head... and why is it laughing? thinks the acolyte of Nethys.
