Alignment and Theme:
Lawful Neutral. Like most dwarves, regardless of their origins, Gunther despises the forces of chaos. Brought up in the highly orderly society of the duergar underworld, the only thing the dark dwarf hated more than the enemies of his people were the crazed, monstrous creatures that murdered and sowed discord with reckless abandon. Though his aims are now to spread goodness and order, he is every bit as opposed to the riotous foes he previously detested.

Stopping the spread of chaos. Gunther's intentions are strictly focused on crushing the forces of chaos. While he would be glad to assist in the building of a lawful, peaceful society, his attentions are always focused solely on stopping outside forces from preventing such a thing from happening. The dark dwarf's gaze is always turned outwards, and he hopes to stave off the forces of chaos from destroying the comfortable home he shared with Goodwin and the other disciples.

Background:
Gunther is the son of Cherkov, a duergar priest of Droskar, the Dark Smith. Raised near the black forges of the Underdark, Gunther was bred and trained to serve as a hunter of both game and defectors. Though he was the son of a high-ranking priest, duergar society has little to no respect for individuals. Even the young duergar's name was indicative of the role he would take up amongst his people. But Gunther wanted for nothing, and was trained in the many styles of weaponry and martial arts known to the dark dwarves.

One day, as Gunther was hunting for the evening's dinner, he came across Goodwin. Struck with confusion at what a half-celestial could be doing in such a strange place, the dark dwarf didn't have time to react before the elderly wizard spirited him away from his home and family.

Initially intensely distrustful and outright venomous in his hatred of Goodwin, the duergar eventually began to see the merit in his message. Having never been religious or truly connected to his family and duergar society as a whole, it didn't take very long before Goodwin's tales of Torag and the rest of the dwarven pantheon brought Gunther to leave his evil, baser urges behind. Embracing the concept of order and justice, Gunther now intends to seek out the forces of chaos and strike them down, lest they destroy the quiet and comfortable life he and his adoptive siblings share.

However, with the disappearance of Goodwin, he has set off to find the wizard with a handful of his brothers. They find themselves under-equipped and struggling to survive, but will stop at nothing to reclaim the peaceful existence they had so enjoyed.

Personality and Appearance:
Gunther is a short, stout duergar man with coal-black eyes, dark skin and short, well-kept white hair. Though his build is tough and strong, he is also surprisingly agile.

Gunther is a man of few words, and is always terse and to-the-point. He detests chaos in all of its forms, and attempts to structure both his life and the society he lives in. This is the majority of what remains from his time in duergar society, as he has come to respect and venerate the Father of Creation in his time with Goodwin and the others. Intent on protecting those weaker than himself and ensuring order amongst his companions, he is a stalwart and trustworthy individual.
