I suspect it's to save time and move the game along, but, I can post 3-5 times or more daily, so I don't really need that done for me. That's kinda how I feel. I was thinking about dropping out, but I feel like it would kinda be a dick move. Dunno. Seems like I'm not really losing anything by staying in, and when he does battles he puts up nice maps and stuff. We'll see how it goes.

I'm in this and one other. It also just started, homebrew fantasy pathfinder. I don't like the other DM's style as much as this game, because he tends to tell us what our characters are doing. However these are my first PBP games so maybe that just comes with the territory. I also have two games IRL, but I DM both of them. So this is my only chance to play ~_~

"I am Lang XiaoBai out of Southport, transferred to your command Captain." Lang snaps off a sharp military salute. Then hands the Captain his papers and stands at attention, any smalltalk he may have been engaged in quickly forgotten in the face of his new superior. He studies the Captain carefully hoping to learn more about him.

Sorry to double post ran out of edit time in last post. Insert this bit before he addresses Kanoko:
Perception check vs Kanoko's Disguise1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

To Karval before Konoko is in ear shot; "Doubt it, Envoys don't usually walk alone. However, in those fancy rags she's probably a retainer." Lang waits quietly through Konoko and Karval's exchange, then bows from the waist towards Konoko. "My name is Lang XiaoBai. Who might you be madam?" He looks at her with poorly disguised desire in his colorless eyes. Mmmm...foxy. Sorry, couldn't resist. No more kitsune jokes I promise.

As Lang arrives in Einjeru he immediately makes his way to the docks. Cities...blech. Seeing the Ardhanya he makes his way over. According to the orders we should be leaving soon. He notices the others standing near the ship and calls out in greeting, "Ho! Our suspicions appear to have been correct. We find ourselves together again so soon." He stops and gives the ship a good looking over.
"Looks like a fine ship we've been assigned to. Semaj is a skilled captain by all accounts. This should be fun."

I've been playing since before 3.0 came out. Started with Alternity, then 3.0->3.5, dabbled in 4th and a few years worth of Pathfinder now. Also played various one-offs and short campaigns in other systems. Currently DM a PFS based home game and a science-fantasy modern pathfinder game IRL

Good call on the tripping AOO Toph, never thought about that before. Got to read up on rules for nets and entangle and that feat. Very cool character... DreamAtelier: Yeah she hasn't posted anything yet, but I know she has an alias for the character. I've seen her post with it in other online games. She either lost interest or is waiting for the real game to start. -shrug- Edit:
Not trying to sound combative, just curious and want to fully understand the rules everyone uses before we get into the real game.

Lang stumbles back into the courtyard, his beard stained red with wine. He stops to kneel briefly and mutters something under his breath while he touches the wolf's head brooch that holds his half-cloak in place. For a moment his irises glow yellow like a predator's eye reflecting a torchlight. After a second he stands steadily to his feet, his stagger gone. Going over to lean against a wall, he relights his pipe and watches the duel. Cast Cure Light on self 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Ouch. Retcon the whole tripping thing then. With a single blow to the forehead Tong Kai drops Lang onto the dirt. "Today is not the day for my ego. he says woozily, before climbing slowly to his feet. "Thank you for reminding me why I normally try to keep my mouth shut." He bows unsteadily and hobbles back into the tea house. "Server! Wine, now! Lots of wine!"
Male Human (Tian/Ulfen) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1
assuming you took a 5' step towards me
Spoiler:
HP:7/13 Lang takes the heavy blow to his shoulder with a grunt. He dances back quickly and again brings brings his pole down on TK's legs. 5' step back, then Trip again.
This time Tong Kai hits the dirt with a satisfying thud. If you choose to stand, my AOO will be another trip
Male Human (Tian/Ulfen) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1
Lang charges forward as soon as Tong Kai is in position and has finished his bow. He stops a couple paces from TK and uses the long pole of his Fauchard to sweep his legs. Charge->Trip attack from 10' away.
The pole causes one leg to buckle but TK maintains his balance. What is it with me missing my rolls by one today. ~_~'

Tong Kai wrote: Kai watches the back and forth of the players curiously. Then after the first few moves turns back to his tea. "Who needs to be good with a toy when you are good with a blade." "Well, now that I've exercised my mind, perhaps you could provide some exercise for my blade. Care to step outside and spar a bit? With padded blades of course." He picks up his Fauchard in one hand and motions towards the door with the other. Proposing a duel in the courtyard, 30' square map. Nonlethal damage by padding the blades, first one to go unconscious or hit 0 loses. No magic.

Lang takes a small swig and hands back the flask. He smacks his lips and smiles. "Thank you." The various reactions around the table cause him to chuckle mirthfully. "It seems we are all bound to serve Satrap Shi, and no mere grunts at that. I wonder if we are being formed into a new unit? I haven't heard of anything unusual happening on Eastwall lately, what about y'all?"
Male Human (Tian/Ulfen) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1
Might I have a pull from your flask Mr. Tong? He looks over Rasmoro and Tong hissing at each other, and Toph and Karval's hands on their weapons. Looks like we could all do with a little relaxation. Ther'll be plenty of time for hot blood later I'm sure.
Male Human (Tian/Ulfen) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1
"Yes, it is my weapon. Keeps things at a comfortable distance, and it's great for sweeping feet. My name's Lang Xiao Bai, but people who are scared of me call me Gui Lang. He pauses for a moment to consider, "Perhaps you should just call me Lang. How should I address you? As Lang converses with Karval, he looks across the table to see what the Catfolk will say to the Nagaji's offer. I'm gonna just go with the assumption that Tien=Chinese. With that in mind, Lang Xiao Bai means little white wolf. Lang being the surname. Gui Lang isn't a proper name, but it means ghost wolf.

DreamAtelier wrote: Sorry about this everyone, but it's going to be a few days before I get around to catching up on the thread and starting game-play. Had a rather unexpected death in the family happen, and dealing with that is going to keep me occupied for a bit. Sorry for your loss. Take all the time you need, this is just a silly game Looks at Karval "I apologize, I suppose that was a bit like if you began calling me a monkey. I intended no offense, in my nervousness I simply didn't consider my words fully. Sometimes I say things without realizing how they sound." His eyes drop to the bowl of his pipe, and stay there as he continues to smoke, an embarrassed look on his face.
Male Human (Tian/Ulfen) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1
"Don't worry too much friend. Surely if they had anything too dangerous in mind they could have found a more..."he pauses briefly and coughs, "...professional looking bunch. I mean, an albino walks into a tea house with a goblin, an orc, a cat, two lizards and a fox sounds like the start of a really terrible joke." He laughs nervously.
Male Human (Tian/Ulfen) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1
Notices everyone except Kanoko is a soldier, who is dressed like a diplomat. "I feel an escort mission coming up." he states in a gruff yet quiet voice. He pulls a long wooden pipe from his pocket and lights it. As he smokes he begins to pace the tea house floor. He pauses behind Kanoko and takes a couple sniffs in her direction. "Huhn." he grunts, then sits back down. I know we may not actually be in a tea house, but I feel like getting the RP going.

Looks like in this party I might actually be towards the shorter end of the scale :P Yeah, I am a preacher but more for the class features than the roleplaying aspect. He's a very religious man, but he's not evangelical. It's more his style to live as an example to others, and to preach values rather than dogma. As far as honor and duty go, I think he and Araki will get along nicely. Lang would never disobey the orders of his trusted local commander, because of their personal relationship. He is loyal to his "pack" until death, but having a bunch of stripes on your uniform is not enough to earn instant respect. He behaves largely like a very intelligent animal, he understands the need for society and cooperation but judges people and things based on their effects in the real world. Not on their human social importance. He sees money and cities as signs of weakness and exploitation of the many for the benefit of the few. I think I'd be a good flank-buddy for Araki. I have a 30' movement speed in light armor, and with reach it should be easy to get into position. On top of that I can trip and our low BABs will benefit greatly from the +4 to hit
Went ahead an made an alias (I am Jelani). Backstory:
Spoiler:
Gui's father and all the first born sons for generations have served in the Shi clan's military as raiders, and in times of peace, thief takers. The family can trace its roots back to the mainland where they were Ulfen guards in the imperial court. They were from a tribe which worshiped a Wolf Spirit totem, prized for their loyalty and ferocity. However, many generations of intermarriage with the Tian caused the family to largely abandon worship of the Wolf Spirit. All that remained was the family symbol. When Gui's father died on a raid, the Wolf Spirit appeared to his mother in a dream. It told her that her baby would be born without color, and that he would be chosen of the Wolf Spirit. He grew up mostly alone with his mother in a cottage several miles outside Southport. Due to his coloring most contact he had with outsiders was a negative experience. He was quickly given the name Gui Lang (Ghost Wolf in Tian), by the children on neighboring farms. He spent most of his days in the forest reading and exploring, where nothing cared what color he was. Upon reaching maturity he was taller and stronger than the other boys in the area, and calls of his name had taken on a respectful tone. He took his father's fauchard and armor and moved to Southport where he swore his oath as a soldier. When he's not on duty he escapes on long hunts in the forests with a backpack full of books.
Appearance: Spoiler: A strange sight by any account, this man stands well over six feet tall. His most striking feature is the parchment whiteness of his skin and hair. Even his irises lack color, except for the slightest blue tinge of translucent material seen at certain angles. His head is dominated by the masses of scruffy hair that combine with his full beard to form a mane-like halo around his feral looking face. He is clothed in simple buckskin. Tunic, breeches and moccasins, with a chain shirt to protect his torso. Across his shoulders is a half-cloak clasped with a pewter brooch in the shape of a wolf's head. A belt around his waist is ringed with darts and he is carrying a six foot long pole topped with a large curved blade. |
