Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog points at the center of the room.

Smoke come from fire...

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Can Grog see where the smoke is coming from?

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog advances into the room fearlessly, weapon drawn to take a look around.

Hmm... smoky. Any villagers not dead in here?

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Question: Are those stairs leading anywhere in the room with the bug?

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog kicks the body of the villager with his foot. After he gets no response, he replies to Ngonunho.

Grog thinks villager is dead... Keep looking for alive ones.

He moves over to the next door and waits for others to be ready before moving on.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Sorry, I made a mechanical error. Grog's raging, charging AC would be 11 not 13 (until his next turn). Then it goes up to 13 for the remainder of his rage.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog is friend to villagers not bugs...
RAAWRRR!!!

Grog roars as he grasps his large broadsword with both hands and charges.

Free Action - Activate rage. Full-round action - Charge bug. AC 13 until next round.

Charge!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 2) + 7 = 13

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

You bet. Grog moved over there a while ago. Just been waiting for the others to catch up.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grrr... I hate when dwarf is right.

Grog grumbles softly to himself for a moment before he replies.

Grog accepts new challenge. Will do what others cannot. Protect Kassen's lost people is mission now. All will see greatness when we return... Let's go find others and finish here. Follow.

Grog exits the room. Once the others follow him, he'll move to the next door.

Taking 10 on perception as I go.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Hmph... don't need another whelp tagging along.

Grog grunts while resting his massive blade on one shoulder.

We here for eternal flame test not lost villagers. No place in here safe. Grog says weak Roldare goes home. If we find sister Dimra, send her home too.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Someone trying hard to keep us out...

Grog growls loudly and smashes down the door.

RAWWRR!

Strength Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

He will step over the debris and move in once the map is available.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog moves up to the north door and attempts to open it.

The others would have had plenty of time to catch up to Grog at this point.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog moves up north to the left to the next intersection, following the sounds of the wailing and keeping his weapon ready. He moves slowly and carefully so the others can catch up.

Taking 10 on stealth and perception. Which of the 2 new doors is the sound coming from?

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog opens the door.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog grumbles in frustration.

Door still closed...

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

I think I get now... only one way to find out.

Grog shouts out to his companions.

Door locked. Thermo! Noggin! Pull other two levers. Grog wants to see what's on the other side...

He readies his broadsword for a fight just in case.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog moves up to the door and tries to open it.

Stealth and perception (12/16).

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog pauses a moment in thought then retraces his steps to the north.

hmm... not that way.

Continuing stealth and perception.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Yeah, Grog's pointing the pits out to Nat.

Grog continues a southern path along the eastern wall.

Still taking 10 on stealth and perception whether or the others are stealthy is up to them.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog continues south and keeps looking around. He points out the other western lever and pit to the group with a grunt.

I don't like this place already...

More levers. More pits. Keep going.

Taking 10 on stealth & perception as I go.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Hmm... Not what I wanted to happen.

Grog pulls the lever again, returning it to its original (preferably unlocked) position. He then whispers back over to Nat.

Others are close. Pit traps everywhere. Need to find another way 'round. Gotta be a right way. Follow Grog.

Grog moves to the south, plotting a new course.

Taking 10 on stealth and perception again. 12/16 respectively.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog pauses when he sees the western floor plate coupled with the southern floor plate. He decides to pull the lever on the wall to see what happens.

This should do something useful.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Not much to see so far.

Grog slows down slightly to allow his companions some time to catch up.

Move 15' west. Same deal taking 10 on stealth and perception.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog lowers his blade and clasps Nat on the shoulder roughly with his hand.

Good! Maybe more over where the noises come from.

He heads off into the darkness...

Same as before taking 10 on stealth and perception as I move at half speed toward the wailing sounds. Stealth = 12. Perception = 16.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Go to hell! RAWWWRR!

Attack Green: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Continuing the die hate tradition with ease...

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog lets out another roar as he swings at the final skeleton standing.

Attack Green: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

RAARRR!!! Die! Stupid pile of bones!

Serious dice roller hate going on here...

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

RARRRGHH!!

Grog roars as he swings again at the elusive skeletons. Clearly he is beginning to get angry.

Attack Orange Skeleton: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Ouch to Grog! He's taking that AoO on Green.

AoO vs Green Skeleton: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Grog suffers a point of sadness damage :(.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog drops his defense and continues with a more wild assault.

Standard Action - Attack Orange skeleton. Free Action - 5' step east.

Attack Orange Skeleton: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

He then sidesteps to the east on top of a skeleton's freshly crumbled bones.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

AoO. Still defensive until next round.

Attack Defensively Blue Dot: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (12) - 2 = 10
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

So much for goin in quiet...

Grog rushes forward past Ngonunho and shouts as he swings his large broadsword down upon the bones at his feet.

Get out of way! Bones are moving!

Attack Defensively Red Dot: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16

Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 = 10

Move Action - move 30ft north. Standard Action - Attack Defensively Red Dot. AC 17 until next round.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Right. Follow me.

Grog nods at Nat and moves cautiously into the darkness of the crypt...

I would like to move at half speed and take 10 on both stealth and perception checks as I enter the darkness with weapon drawn. Stealth = 12. Perception = 16.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

I almost forgot about the little one...

What you want now Nogone oh?

Grog tromps over and kicks at the horse carcass to move it.

Strength Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Horse is dead meat.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Mudslide location. If anyone wants to heal Grog that's up to you. He'll probably be fine without it.

Ouch! Stupid tree... You heavier than you look, elf.

Grog stands up and brushes himself off like nothing happened while he waits for the others to gather before continuing on.

Flame Arch location.

Grog sniffs around and grunts a bit.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Looks like something don't like horse. Doors inside. We not the only ones here neither. Careful.

Grog draws his large broadsword and points at the open wooden door inside the archway.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog will also move slowly (quarter speed if matching the others moving slowly). No sense in outpacing his companions.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grogs sniffs around the area and begins to pillage the campsite for goods.

hmm.. anything good here?

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Seems Grog have to do everything... Maybe even put stones on this dwarf someday.

Grog grunts loudly and begins piling stones onto the dead body.

Hmph! Grog doesn't want to carry dead bodies back to Kassen either.

Strength check to pile rocks faster than weaklings.

Strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

hmph... Waste of time to bury dead.

Grog shrugs.

He's dead. He don't care. Don't see any humans around to care. Maybe down this trail to the east we learn more?

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Grog looks to the road ahead before moving in to investigate. He kicks the body with his foot.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Looks dead to me. We should go.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

I should be all set for Grog for now unless anyone else wants to add more.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog growls and bares his sharp teeth, raising his sword high for just a moment as if to deliver a killing blow...

He then lets out a bellowing belly laugh.

HA! Ahahahahh!

You a funny dwarf. Almost as funny as Braggar! Gnome funny too!

HA Ha HA! You keep your wolf friend. Grog finish up here and go back to sleep.

He sheaths the massive broadsword and pulls his smaller blade out to begin skinning and butchering the wolf carcass near the firepit. Once finished, he'll settle back in to sleep before his watch starts.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog kills the wolf at his feet with his sword before he drags its carcass near the fire. He then walks toward the unconscious wolf, his massive sword hovers over it still dripping with warm blood. He looks to the group.

Never understand small ones.

You think wolf here kills for glory? Can't eat glory. Grog is like wolf, he kills to survive. Should kill this wolf before it wakes up and tries to kill us again... Why you want to save it?

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog takes a swing at the wolf that bit him before it tries to run away.

Attack Green Wolf: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 2) + 4 = 8

Attack of Opportunity vs Green wolf

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog roars in pain as he slides to the west and draws out his broadsword. He swings mightily with both hands at the wolf that bit him.

GROOARR!!! I'll give em somethin' to eat!

Free action - 5' step. Move Action - Draw nine-ring broadsword. Standard action - Attack Green Wolf.

Attack Green Wolf: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 2) + 4 = 11

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

So I have a few questions about how combat is going to work in this pbp.

#1.) Are we using initiative?

#2.) If not, are there surprise rounds?

#3.) If we are using intiative, when would we roll for it?

That's all for now, thanks!

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Grogs rolls over in the dirt and pops to his feet quickly to survey the scene.

Move Action - Stand up.

Upon viewing the animal Thurim screamed about he lets out a set of growls and howls to try an scare it away.

RAWRRG! GRAAAAWR!!!

Standard Action - Intimidate to demoralize vs wolf.
Intimidate: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog returns after a short time from his hunt and settles into camp by making a nice fire with the wood Ignatius collected. He distributes his spoils to the group evenly and cooks the game meat to the best of his ability.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

You eat rabbits, nuts and berries. Very tasty. Sorry no taters. Grog eats tree raptors (squirrels).

Though not all the fur came off the squirrel meat before consumption, Grog belches loudly after completing his meal and slurps large amounts of water down from his skin before sprawling aimlessly on the dirt. He sneaks in a bit of brandy from the bottle as he yawns at the group.

Grog watches last. Wake when ready.

Before long, loud snoring and foul smells come from Grog's general direction.

Last watch perception roll.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog sighs heavily and puts the map away before answering Ignatious.

Bout halfway there. Grog said he would keep you small legs safe... Try anyway.

Slow heroes need rest... Grog could be at crypt by now himself... I am hungry.

His words sound short and grunty.

We camp here for night. Rest. Stay quiet and maybe nothing finds you. I go get food. Be back soon.

He draws his shortbow and wanders off a short distance to collect sustenance for the group from the surrounding area.

Once every 24 hours - "Get along in the wild" Survival check to forage food and drink for the group. DC 10. Can provide for one other person for every 2 exceeding the DC. The group traveled roughly 20 miles today. Grog's half speed overland movement is 20 miles/day (8 hours).

Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog hate maps. Too many squiggly lines.

Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Grog slows down to let the others catch up. He assures the gnome that he is well and uninjured.

Must all be part of the test. So far testing patience most... How can ones so small be chosen for test of strength? Don't have a cart to carry back dead bodies.

He nods and waits in silence until the others are ready to proceed.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Barbarian/1

Are we still in rounds?

We should not waste time on silly games. Crypt is still far...

Grog sniffs the air again.

Grog smells nothing. We move now before real orcs find us. Crypt is not here.

He picks up his shortsword and moves to continue along the trail to the crypt.
