Is it PF1 or PF2?

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

Another resource for building your PF2 character is Pathbuilder2e.com. Doesnt necessarily explain the rules on building a character real well but its free and is pretty comprehensive.

I don't know what to tell you, Gideon. It's not like it's possible to be in a politics-free zone. I'm not even American and I can tell you that this election is the thing on everyone's mind around the world.

Also, it's not like I've concealed my politics on here (e.g., the comments I've made in this Discussion thread, the non-binary NPCs that have appeared in this adventure, etc.). If it needs to be said explicitly, I'm about as left as it is possible to be, I believe in socialist programs, that queer and trans people and women are people with the right to exist and to control their own bodies, that climate change is human-caused and is a real threat to the planet, that oil is bad and immigration is good.

I'm not going to purposely disparage individual voters, but Trump is a vile person who will further increase the decline of the US and be the cause of many, many deaths.

Amen to this. I couldn’t agree with a post more. I’m sorry to see Gideon go, but I agree that it just shows how things are going. That as you state your clear opinions, it was his own bias that made him leave the channel. The belief that your words were “poison”. SMH

I am not pleased with the results but I also respect our democracy. If he wins, he wins. My concern is that his followers won’t see how it was a “fair” election and a clear example of how to concede. My next concern is what he and his administration will do to our systems of government in the next four years. We will need to stay vigilant and be ready to stand up against the bully when the time comes.

Ugh. Why does this site have to be so rough on mobile. Difficult to see if you have new messages, can’t modify your profiles, and it’s super tough to move icons around on the battle maps too (though technically that’s not the Paizo site issue. )

I responded to your message from May DM.

It’s been a while since my previous post. Apologies.

On a game system note, I went to Gencon this year and managed to score a couple early release copies of the new Player’s Handbook. I do like a lot of the changes they made.

I also played some Avatar, PF2, Savage Worlds, and some Classic Rifts (Palladium)

I know that feeling. I p I ably pull mine once every six months or so. Rest is fine to a point, but I find movement and working to be the best ways to get through it.

Actually the novels from the 80 are still pretty relevant to some of the modules. The current regime are descendants of Tristram (spelling) and the Moonshae pools are still an important part of the culture.

Let’s see how this goes.
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 1) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 3) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 5) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 1) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 3) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 1) = 10

My usual terrible rolls for stats. Standard array it is.

Baldrick Longhall wrote:

That was quick! I will take a look tomorrow.

btw, since we levelled up these characters, Baldrick is now at Level 3 Barbarian, and chose the Path of Wild Magic (assuming that's still permitted -- pretty sure I checked in with the DMs previously).

HP: +9 (58)
Rages / day: +1 (3)

Magic Awareness: Know the location of any spell or magic item within 60 feet of you that isn’t behind total cover. When you sense a spell, you learn which school of magic it belongs to. Per day: 3

Wild Surge: When you enter your rage, roll on the Wild Surge table. DC (8+CON+Prof): 13

@Greycastle: Let us know if there was anything of significance recovered after the battle. No worries if it's nothing -- we left pretty quickly, after all.

Wild magic barbarian is fine. Works well with the concept of the character.

As for treasure. Just need to know if you looted the king or not. You had some time to look around while the allied dwarf went to get his matron.

Looting the King you will find his gauntlet and crown, both made of chardalyn and a small bag of gemstones. The other dwarves have heavy armor and weapons of duergar make. You also would recover 36 gold and 26 silver among all the dead dwarves in soot covered coins.

Let me know what you take and I’ll give you more info.

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

Yeah I missed the survey link lol.

Yes. Leveling was the plan.

I could go either way with my vote, but lean toward starting something with new characters. That being said, if you (Baldrick) have the preference of Storm Kings, I say we do that. The DM should have a heavy vote since they have to run the game. Lol.

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

The party pulls back into the elevator room and after some time, the lift brings down Gandolfa. She steps into the throne room to survey your handywork and return with a stern face. "Ye have done what was asked, and I will honor our arangement. I've sent my man to inform the others that the king is dead. We'll have our hands full here settlin down the place, but it will be done. Now is your time to leave though. Up the way you came. Ye have me word that I will dissassemble whatever parts of the dragon they have built so far. I have no intention of tryin to rule the upper lands. Tell your folk to stay away from this place and they wont have trouble from us."

Taking her at her word, the party heads back up the lift and back out of the cidadel the way that they came. To no ones relief, it is still dark when you exit the solid fortress gates. An all too stark reminder that though you've stopped the current threat to Ten Towns, there is still something larger and more powerful threatening these lands.

The party returns to Good Meade and are celebrated when word that the dwarf king responsible for the dragon attacks had been slain. You all take comfort that though it may be dark outside, you can relax by the fire of the somewhat repaired Meade Hall in relative saftey.

Or can they?...

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

Ok. I’ll wrap up the current run and put the characters back in Ten Towns. That way we can figure out where to go from there.

Just a note. I’d like to apologize for the posting rate of this last run. It’s been terrible and I’m honestly surprised the group stayed together for the most part. I appreciate all of you and let’s see where this goes when Baldrick gets back.

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

It takes a few rounds but ultimately, Baldrick is saved and is now one potion of health higher. roll and add that to your health level.

The remaining allied dwarf is uncomfortable in your presence by him self and moves toward the door you came through. [b]”I’m gonna go get Grandolpha, she will know the next steps. You lot stay out here. The forge is still teamin with dwarfs. They won’t be taking kindly knowing you killed our King. So make sure any dwarfs that come in here are grabbed and held onto till we get back. [b]”

Not sure what your ultimate plan is here. The immediate threat of Sunblight has been quelled. You could still go on and kill more grey dwarves but it could get bloody and your group is in pretty tough shape.

If you move forward with clearing the fortress of enemies, I would recommend taking a rest somewhere. If you are planning on honoring the deal with Grandolpha Muzgardt, or e will wrap things up here and I will get us back to ten towns.

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

I think someone will be able to follow the sound of the explosion and find you within three rounds but you can use it if you’d like.

Combat with the remaining duergar drills on for a few more seconds but the team manages to down the remaining current threat. Things do get a little spicy as the enemy falls though and everyone in the room winks into invisibility.

You’re all pretty sure that everyone is still there based one people asking questions about the king being dead and what happened. Though you’re a little confused when doors start opening and you hear dwarves footfalls trailing off in that direction. ”Where did that dwarf run off to now” some of you might wander.

It’s not long after that when you hear and explosion from down that the same way. Rushing down that way, even though can’t really see your own feet as you go, the charred body of Baldrick can be seen laying on the floor.

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

@Baldrick roll em. Make sure you don’t drop a fireball on em. Lol. Never know what else might happen. But yeah, hand waving combat.

@Turq Fraid you are still pretty stinky. You can roll your fate.
“A coated creature exudes a horrible stench for 1d4 hours. The coated creature is poisoned as long as the stench lasts, and other creatures are poisoned while within 5 feet of the coated creature. A creature can remove the stench on itself by using a short rest to bathe in water, alcohol, or vinegar.”

@Rodalas Yeah, the duration was totally on me. But you guys stuck it out and we made it through.

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

Turq, still wretching at his own stench hefts his axe but his cant manage the strength to push throught the dwarf's defenses. Baldrick hauls Gideon into the next room following the kings magical suggestion. Just as things were looking grim for our heros, Umikh, seeing that he had finally been freed up of enemies, lets out a furious howl and charges the dwarf king. His first attack missing but through clenched teeth the young warrior doubles back and lodges his axe in the kings chest. With a gurgle of dark red blood, the king falls to the side.

Baldrick, your suggestion fades.

The enlarged dwarf with the crossbow curses in undercommon and shrinks in size as she bolts out the northern doors.

The remaining enemy, the enlarged dwarf facing Turq, surveys the room and resigns himself to his fate. "At least when I die, they wont be raising me to one o those plants. Maybe I'll just take one of you with me.

It takes another few rounds, but you guys are able to dispatch the final dwarf. Congrats everyone! That was a toughy in more ways than one.

we were out of town this weekend. Umikh will post tonight.

As for Sanctuary, per the wording of the spell, I dont know that it's going to make much difference in the current situation since Baldrick already has Gideon grappled. I like the idea though and I'm going to say that the two magic spells in play here interact and force Baldrick to make another save against the Suggestion spell.

Gideon does have an action as well since Sanctuary is indeed a bonus action. I am playing with PF2 for the first time in one of my table top games. It's interesting, but I'm not sold on it at this point lol.

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

@Baldrick honestly its the only reason this fight became a challenge. you guys had the king before he got lucky with that last ditch suggestion

@Gideon a sanctuary could solve at least the annoying dwarf issue

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

@Baldrick, no save. If you are within 5ft of someone who is STANKY you are stricken with the POISONED condition. Once you are no longer within 5ft, the POISONED condition is removed.

Trying to stay alive the remaining allied dwarf (orange) takes on a defensive posture and looks as though he may be about to bolt. (dodge action)

The enlarged Stoneguard smiles at the other dwarf seeing his hesitation, and moves forward to engage Mell. As he does though, his nose crinkles a bit as he catches the wiff of a very rank Turq next to him. Previously thinking the warrior dead, the smell has drawn the dwarfs attention once more and after swinging his shortblade at Mell, attempts to ensure that Turq will not rise again. 3d20 ⇒ (18, 19, 6) = 43 His shortblade digs deep into Mells flesh but Turq manages to roll to the side and avoid the blade directed toward him. (prone adv, stank disadv) 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 = 10

Mell's concentration 1d20 ⇒ 19

The King seems concerned at this point, his healed wounds now reopened. Anger seems to cross his face and he seems determined to remove the interlopers in front of him. With some effort, he utters arcane words and his eldritch bolts arc out at Mell and Rodalas.
2d20 ⇒ (14, 17) = 31 Both bolts finding thier targets.
2d10 ⇒ (10, 10) = 20 14 pts each
Mell's second concentration roll. 1d20 ⇒ 6

Mell and Rodalas are stunned momentarily and then they both colapse unconcious.

Mell calls forth to Turq in an ancient Druidic tongue and the warrior is surrounded with natural healing energies. She then creates flames in her palm and throws it toward the dwarf king.

Umikh’s first blow takes down the spore zombie and the dwarf’s second blow brings down the remaining Quaggoth. nice damage!

Random Locations: 3d6 + 3d10 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) + (5, 4, 4) = 19
Just as two enemies fall, three wet popping sounds are heard in quick succession over the battle noises and musical notes. ”PLOP PLOP PLOP” Three floating creatures spear in the room. Mushroom like tops with tendrils hanging from the bottom and eye stalks protruding from the top. If you were to guess at their reaction, you’d say they were startled, perhaps even frightened. The each defensively spray ichor out of their bottom like a squid does ink and move away from Baldrick’s direction.
All three seem to tilt their bodies in different directions as to expose a sphincter and they release a spray of foul smelling liquid. Everyone in the room besides the duergar spy and Gideon are in the affected area as the new creatures attempt to get clear of the combat. After the defenses attack, the three creatures seem to move away from combat and toward the clear exits of the room. Everyone except Gideon needs to pass a DEX saving throw DC 10 or you are covered in STANK for 1d4 giving you the POISONED condition for the duration and making you unbearably stinky. So stinky in fact that people within 5ft of you are ALSO under the POISONED condition.
Orange,Teal,King,Mell,Fire Spirit: 5d20 ⇒ (11, 13, 10, 10, 11) = 55

The enlarged spy(olive) in the corner takes advantage of her ally being adjacent to the remaining allied dwarf (orange) and launches two crossbow shots at him. 2d20 ⇒ (18, 18) = 36 piercing+sneak damage: 2d6 + 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + (5, 1) + 6 = 19 Both quarrels finding their mark and wounding him.

Being the GM of this adventure, I definitely control the pace with my low posting rate, not sure if anyone wants to or is willing to take it up from here and move forward and maybe speed things up from what I’m doing now. As long as Gideon sticks around, the group comp is fine if thing continue after Sunblight, so moving forward is not out of the realm of possibilities. I just won’t be able to run it.

Rodalas takes aim at the remaining Quaggoth and threads an arrow around Gideon and Umikh to strike the white furry creature in its throat. This seems to enrage the creature as blood begins to stain its white fur.

Mell moves the sphere with a thought attempting to slam into the remaining zombie, also stopping its movement near the remaining Quaggoth as well.
zombie save: 1d20 ⇒ 15 Fire: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
The nible zombie manages to move out of the way mitigating the damage from the sphere, but the location of the flaming ball will still have an effect. SHe then throws a small amount of flame from her palm at the zombie as well. 1d20 ⇒ 8 missing the thing completely.
Unexpectedly, the grease on the ground errupts in a flash of flames and singes everything in its area. Banners on either side of the throne catch fire and begin to burn, adding a haze of smoke to the area.

One of the allied dwarves throws another hand axe at the zombie while the other swings its war pick at the enlarged Stoneguard duergar.
2d20 ⇒ (14, 5) = 19 The hand axe sinking deep into the zombie but warpick deflected easily aside by the Stoneguard. Handaxe: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

The stoneguard ignores the mutinous duergar and moves to engage the heroes once again, [b]"Surface scum!"[/dice] he bellows in dwarven. Not knowing exactly what Baldrick is doing, the dwarf seems to consider hitting the strangly acting dwarf but seems to settle on the human who is actively swinging his weapon. two swings on Turq
2d20 ⇒ (18, 18) = 36 Both attacks easily finding a way through Turq's defenses. 2d6 + 4 + 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 4) + 4 + (5, 5) + 4 = 23 The blows seem too much for Turq to withstand and he drops to a knee and then falls over unconious. Turq is down

The king steps back into the room looking somewhat refreshed, some of his wounds healed, and surveys the throne room battle sceen. He points a crooked finger at Umikh and the allied dwarf holding the warpick and two eldritch bolts arc from his fingers to each of his targets.
2d20 ⇒ (4, 15) = 19 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d10 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Umikh is spared the blast as it goes wide and hits the throne, but the allied dwarf is laid low by the blast and is no longer moving.

The remaining spore zombie claws at Umikh 1d20 ⇒ 10 inaffectively. Sphere Save: 1d20 ⇒ 8 Fire: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5 The flaming sphere licks at the back of the zombie's heals.

@baldrick I went back to the last roll for grease and took the first rolls of the advantaged rolls of the Duergar, yellow failed and would start the round prone, while teal passed. Disa for Furry: 1d20 ⇒ 7 The white furry remaining would have failed, picked himself up this round and still had enough movement to move in for the attack. No one ended their turn in the grease.

Umikh strikes out but misses.

The spore covered zombies both attack Umikh aggressively. The newest spore creature doesn’t seem to be able to produce its energy weapon and claws at Umikh while the former stone guard still wields its shortsword.
2d20 ⇒ (18, 17) = 35 both finding their target. 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 plus 1 from the unarmed spore zombie.

The allied dwarf north of the party (orange) pulls a throwing axe from his belt and hurls it as one of the spore covered zombies while the other, (yellow) stands up from the slick flooring and moves north to further engage the one of the enlarged enemies.
2d20 ⇒ (2, 10) = 12

2d20 ⇒ (13, 13) = 26 2d10 + 8 ⇒ (4, 6) + 8 = 18 One of the allied grey dwarves is blasted by two bolts of pure energy from the room the king seems to have ducked into. In dwarven ”Treacherous rock mold! Your entire line will be sniffed out for this.

@Baldrick- sorry forgot about the grease. Blue Furry did move out of it on his turn. I just forgot to change the map.
Mell’s Produce Flame: 1d20 ⇒ 7 Content with her sphere doing work, Mell throws fire at the nearest enemy, (pink zombie) but the tossed fire misses while Rodalas sends an arrow toward the enlarged Duergar missing as well.

The enlarged Duergar bellows out in Dwarvish to the remaining white furry creature. ”If ye turn me in ta one o those things, I’ma gonna come back to haunt ya you mangy Quaggoth.” he then points his short sword at Mell ”An Im gonna eat yer kids fer this flamin ball on me ars’” He then swings down on Umikh since he is the only enemy he can reach at the moment.
Short Sword: 2d20 ⇒ (7, 18) = 25 one connecting for 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6) + 3 = 10
He then cautiously steps back to where the spy had been standing. Allowing room for the undead fodder to move up and do its job. Umikh may take an attack of opportunity

posting so I don’t lose it. Still need to do the zombies and king.

@Umikh, just needed to wrap up a couple of npc’s.
The furry creature remaining pours out the captures spores in its bottle over your fallen ally and the grey dwarf soul blade begins to stir. The furry creature then leaps toward Umikh with rage in its eyes. Claws: 2d20 ⇒ (19, 20) = 39
2 hits, one is a crit, Slashing: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5) + 6 = 14
Umikh feels his blood running down his side as the creature’s claws find ways through his armor.

The duergar spy seems to read the room and figuring yellow has his hands full with the soul blade now rising against him from the ground, she disengages to find a more advantageous position.

disengage and a move action.

Fixed the hit pints and totally agree that you will need to go around.

Teal (adv), Yellow (adv), Blue Furry: 5d20 ⇒ (20, 19, 3, 13, 16) = 71
Everyone effected by the surprising grease spell manages to keep their balance on the slick substance.

Umikh’s blade darts out and fella another of the strange furry creatures.

Ill resolve Gideons channel after Turq’s actions.

The enlarged grey dwarf (teal) looks at his fallen ally (pink) disgust at the sight of the once dead dwarf stirring. ”Gor’ram spores! Don’t be putting those things on me corpse if I go down ye bastards! he says in dwarf speech to the white furry creature next to him.
Attacks: 2d20 ⇒ (16, 16) = 32
Distracted though he was, his short sword has no issue finding soft spots in Baldrick’s armor. Piercing+big: 2d6 + 4 + 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3) + 4 + (6, 3) + 4 = 22

The now spore covered dwarf shambles to its feet unsteadily before lashing out at 1d3 ⇒ 1 Turq Shortsword Att: 1d20 ⇒ 19 piercing the warriors ribs. piercing: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

The allied grey dwarves seem to pause quickly when the soul blade goes down as they were following his lead through most of this fight. With a quick glance at each other over there shoulders, both seem to determine that they’ve gone this far, the only way to get through it is forward. The first of them (orange) moves to stand over the now reduced fallen duergar (neon green) and attacks the closest white fury creature (orange) staying clear of Mell’s flaming sphere. War Pick: 1d20 ⇒ 9 digging into the creatures flesh. Pick: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9. The other Grey dwarf (yellow) turns to face the duergar spy (olive) responsible for killing the soul blade. WarPick: 1d20 ⇒ 7 The agile spy easily sidesteps the attack however.

The king shrewdly views the throne room battle and then leans in toward Baldrick. Speaking in low tones he whispers dwarven words laced with infernal magic. gonna roll for you so that I can wrap up his action based on Baldrick’s response. Baldrick’s WIS save: 1d20 ⇒ 9 The king sees the the look in Baldrick’s eyes and smiles. He then steps back away from Baldrick. The duergar next to him sees him stepping away and swings his pick at the King. War Pick: 1d20 ⇒ 10 The king nearly pushes the pick to the side as he easily doges the attack. I placed the dwarf king into the room he walked into. That is not necessarily where he is in the room.

Baldrick:
It’s good that we are being friends, I can warn ye that your Lathanderite friend is not safe here. Ye should carefully make your way over to him and drag him back up the elevator where it is safe. “You have been the target of a Suggestion spell. The King has convinced Baldrick that the King is his friend and is very concerned for the safety of Baldrick’s other friends. His Lathanderite friend in particular is very important and is in incredible danger. He suggests Baldrick should pull the cleric out of this combat into the safer halls at the top of the elevator. He adds that you should do so carefully as to not others to attack you. (IE disengage)

Because some wild magic is going to happen, I don't want to post in advance :)

Yes sorry. I wrapped up to that point. I need to do the duergar’s sorry.

@Gideon your second channel hasn’t come up ye. You’re following the duergar.

ok, because you had disadvantage, you're sneak attack is not applicible but No problem. 10 dam is 10 damn.

As Rodalas looses another arrow at one of the duergar in front of Mell, she releases another gout of flames from her hands.

Rodalas, you are based by olive. A ranged attack would be at disadvantage.

Game Map DCI# 4318637857

@Gideon I see now. Technically with the advantaged roll, your flare would knock him down to a straight roll. I'll just reroll the attack. But what this did do while looking at the Duergar stat block, I had missed that many of these guys have two attacks. So be ready everone. :)
Flared attack roll: 1d20 ⇒ 7 Gideons faith in his god flares brightly from his holy symbol causing the dwarf to wince at the last possible time causeing the attack to go wide.

The king scoffs at Baldrick's grazing blow while Umikh's sword darts in and out finding soft fleshy areas of his enemies. The King's expression changes though when he notice that strange magic energy has began swirl around Baldrick.

Just as his holy symbol fades in brightness, beams of pure light erupt from it striking dwarves and white furry creatures all over the room. So many saving throws to roll. ugh Con Save: 10d20 ⇒ (17, 15, 12, 16, 7, 12, 1, 11, 13, 11) = 115 from top left working down in rows left to right. The fifth and seventh failed

As the bright light fades from Gideons radiant burst, everyone notices as the first enemy slumps to the ground dead. pink is toast

Very wounded, one of the furry creatures [olive) seems to begin foaming at the mouth and it's eye become engorged and bloodshot as it seems fly into a blood rage. It sets its red eyes on Turq and leaps toward the fighter rabidly. Two attacks with advantage: 4d20 ⇒ (6, 10, 15, 3) = 34 Only one of the furyous slashes find its way through Turqs defenses. slashing damage: 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5, 5) + 3 = 18

Taking advantage that Turq is distracted by the furious creature, the other one (purple) opens a botel that it had been carrying and cackles as it pours the contents over the fallen duergar next to him. Glowing spores fall from the bottle and seem to drift into orfices of the fallen dwarf. Soon it begins to twitch and jerk. It seems the duergar may have been saved by the white furry creature, but something is off.

7d20 ⇒ (19, 2, 17, 2, 10, 1, 8) = 59 Though it should be more concerned about Mell's flaming sphere, the third white furry creature close to Turq (orange) pressess the attack, scoring another hit on the stout human warrior slashing damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 while rolling out of the way from the sphere to minimize the how harmful the fire orb will be. The two remaining (neon green and blue), also claw at Umikh and Baldrick respectively but thier claws cant seem to get past either of the dwarven warriors armored skin.

forgot to this not-so-little lady on the Duergar's turn, so I'll tuck her in here at the end of the round.Suddenly, the flow of combat around king is set off balance as another Duergar appears from the doorway to the north, already enlarged and moving in to attack, striking out at one of the duergar attacking the king. Gideon is able to see enough of this newcomer to recognize her as the ladydwarf that had gotten away on your initial fight on the upper floors... Could this be why the king seemed unsuprised by your attack? Attacks: 2d20 ⇒ (9, 20) = 29 "Traitor!" shes screams as her enlarged shortsword blade plunges into your temporarially allied duergar's back twice. both attacks hit, sneak attack woulda been used on first attack, not on the crit. Too bad you have to be using it str based to get the enlarged bonus or the crit would be massive. 1d6 + 3 + 2d6 + 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (3, 3) + (6, 5) + 3 = 24 The energy blade winks out of existience as the duergar you followed down the elevator (purple) colapses from the newcomers attack.
