Leveling his pistol down the hallway, Graxzos sweeps the area, and, seeing no enemy, curses quietly as he realizes that the machine, Satinder, and Rasim are in the way of any potential shot. "Dagnabit, humans," he concurs with Byron--then he hustles down the hallway, pistol still out, yanking his shield off his back. He flings himself through the far doors just as events proceed... Double-moving from the square next to Byron in front of the doors all the way to the square in line with it outside of the hallway past the other set of doors. That's me done!

There's no reason to jump at each others' throats, and Byron learning to control 0042b could be a great character hook going into the future. It makes sense that a rigidly lawful creature would stick to a plan, regardless of possible bad outcomes. That said, there are some problems with setting off this trap intentionally as far as a plan goes--specifically, we're going to break our party in half (and possibly damage some people). To whit, see the Gameplay! :)

Graxzos then puts his torch out and stows it (given the multiple magical lights), and descends the rope himself, dropping the last foot to land on the floor with a solid thud. He looks around the new chamber with interest, scooting his goggles up onto his head. "Not a pretty sight, eh? Wager this'd be some other would-be liberator with less skill than us." He examines the stain on the floor, trying to figure out what happened here. "Maybe he fell down this shaft and dragged himself over there?" Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 As Graxzos follows the trail along the floor to the body, he stops short five feet away from it. He eyes the corpse appraisingly. "We honor your sacrifice, sir! Assuming he hasn't seen anything that looks dangerous, he uses the ax to drag the corpse towards the center of the room. I'll take 10 on my Climb check! Graxzos snorts. "Amateurs." He slings a massive coil if rope off a hook on his pack and begins tying it to the piton, measuring out several wingspans first. He tosses the coil into the hole and, a moment later, the thud of it hitting the floor echoes up. "Hunnerd feet o' rope right there. Let's get this party started, shall we?" He gives the piton another good whack with his hammer to ensure it isn't going anywhere. Leaving 20' up top and tying it off to anything that looks sturdy in range, so there's a backup to the piton. Striding back to the wheel, he pulls a set of pitons and a hammer out of a side pouch. He places the point of a piton on the edge of the wheel, oriented so that someone standing in front of the wheel could grab it to apply leverage. He looks back at Sebti. Very deliberately, he taps--once--on the piton, driving it slightly into the stone. He waggles his eyebrows at her. Then he continues to pound that one in, leaving enough room for someone to grab, and continues with the other three. Then he steps back. "That should give us some more leverage, eh?" he says. Graxzos says in response to Rasim's Osiriani. Turning to the rest of the group, he adds, "He's a local, name of Rasim--from a place they call Barge Town, here. Undestands Taldane but don't speak it truly well. He suggested 'the Sand Mites' for our name." The dwarf snorts. "I see what you say 'bout people underestimating us--" this to Rasim--"but I'd rather not be called any kinda bug, if it's all right by you." The dwarf's eyebrows raise when Tinder explains about his voice, and his face goes very, very serious. "Boy, you'd best not mess with the things that lurk in some of these tombs. There are beings down there that you do not want to disturb. I won't stop you putting yer damn fool head on the block, but I will warn you--I been in plenty o' tombs, and not a one had summat friendly at the bottom." Osiriani: "Don't worry, boy, I understand you. Though Taldane will save time in the tombs, if you can manage it."

"You be careful, princess. Ya keep runnin' yer mouth and droppin' places on the list, mouth's liable to run off on ya." Completely oblivious to Zanac's prevarication, he turns to the group at large. "Name's Graxzos Khar-Bulkhet, of the Bulkhet Pahmet dwarves a ways south o' here. Been tumblin' round the deserts of Garund fer a while now...findin' a way to make ends meet. Pretty handy in a tomb, a crypt, a cave, a mausoleum, what-have-you. Not always as legal as might be liked by those what run the legalities, but I get by. You're free to keep as much of the past as ya like, Zanac--provided we get to haul some of the shiny stuff away fer ourselves. And hoooooo boy, 'f you think people is gonna pay you fer knowledge, you got some more thoughts comin'." Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Graxzos slaps Orcen on the back. "Yeah! You and me, princess! And these other weirdos, I guess." He runs an appraising eye over the rest of the team, then turns to Salomae. "Sorry it didn't work out this time, girlie. Best of luck with the next lottery." He grins wolfishly. "And hey--if I survive this, mayhap I'll bring ya a little somethin' from the tombs! To remember our time together and whatnot." Turning back to the group, he catches the end of the group name discussion. "A name, eh? Hey, I think I got a good one!" His eyes are shining slightly, either from inspiration or, perhaps, from ale. "We can be the...uh...the Brave Long Vultures as Whispered to by Things from Beyond!" He looks around, grinning proudly. "Think that gives us an air of class and mystique, eh?" Group Name Generator: 4d100 ⇒ (16, 89, 50, 92) = 247 Heehee, sorry, I've just always wanted to try the Gamemastery guide name generator...it seems guaranteed to produce hilarity. :P Thanks for taking us on, Dolarre, and thanks to everyone who joined in--way too many great characters here!
Graxzos, seeing that Salomae's attention has become engaged elsewhere, grins, winks at her, and heads up to the bar. "ANOTHER!" he roars. He takes the offered tankard and greedily slurps, foam frosting his beard. He looks around the bar for any likely looking musicians and, when he spots them (if he doesn't he'll just ask the room in general), he demands, "You lot know 'The Romancin' Rhyme of Cayden Cailean?'" Regardless of whether or not the song is familiar to anyone, and whether or not anyone plays or sings along, Graxzos hauls himself onto the seat of his bar stool and declaims, "A TOAST! For some of us go into the graves soon. And don't we all, soon, too soon, aye, don't we all go down into the graves. But while we're here there's sun and music and laughter and the warm arms of women and men what be pleasin' to the eye! So a toast, I say, and on with the song of the greatest of men!" He chugs the rest of the tankard, hums the opening bars of the song, and begins to sing in something that (on a good day) could be called a melody. "Ooooooooooohhhhhhh a hero there was once, so lovely and lean,
Alas that this hero should pass from this world!
He woke the next morning upon a far shore,
Our hero climbed upright, though not as he should:
The song goes on (if no one stops him) an impressively long 17 further verses, detailing the Accidental God's mostly accidental romantic liaisons with the rest of the major pantheon, and some of the minor, during the three days in which Cailean was completing his apotheosis. Naturally Shelyn is the next verse, and from there the verses get more and more comical; it's amazing what a seemingly focused goddess like Iomedae gets up to on the weekends. From the stricter good gods the song moves into the creepier (but no less appealing to the still-drunk Cayden) gods: Nethys, the song claims, can be quite a lover, but only if you get him on a good day. The song concludes with a broadly comic rendition of Cayden's time spent (mostly in anatomical puzzlement) with Achaekek. When his song is finished, the dwarf collapses against the bar stool, spent, with a happy grin on his face. That was fun--and I'm enjoying this character! Good luck with the selection process; there's more than enough great characters here, so I don't envy you!
Graxzos eyes the Dancing Lights Salomae has summoned. "Oooohh, very pretty. I don't go in for magic much meself; prefer to rely on the trusty steel and powder, I do." He pats his pistol possessively and grins. "I can see yer a pragmatic one. I tell ya what, if'n we both get picked to go delvin' inta these tombs, what say we join up? Bring the princess--" he jerks his head at Orcen--"along if you like. With yer blade, his magic, and my powder (and expertise, heh), we should be a formidable team."
