Ghiv stoically flicks the insect off of him and he waits to charge. He reaches out with his feelings and touches the minds of the nearest Azlanti.
Empathy (Su) - 1st Level: As a full action, you can attempt a Sense Motive check to read the emotions of a particular creature (DC = 20 or 10 + its Bluff modifier, whichever is higher). If you succeed, you learn its general disposition and attitude toward creatures within 30 feet of it, and you gain a +2 circumstance bonus to Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive checks against that creature for 1 hour. Whether you succeed or fail, after opening your mind to read emotions, you take a –2 penalty to saving throws against mind-affecting effects for 1 minute.

Ghiv says a prayer of thankfulness to Ibra for the safe journey as he exits the starship. Ghiv is dressed in his simple brown robes which have Ibran symbology stitched into the hems. Underneath he wears thinplate with runic etchings of his Order. His simple weapon, a 3' straight doubled edged sword carries with it the Holy Symbol of Ibra. Ibra willed that we survived the travels of space. Perhaps in the settlement we might gain knowledge of the drones?
Ghiv says These drones. Can someone tell where they are from? What type? Pirates maybe? GM: I mentioned that perhaps the connection Ghiv has to Cedona is as a knowledge broker. Cedona would be known to Ghiv's order as someone who knew of sites that would be of significance to Ibra. Is that something that would work?
Ghiv reaches out and grasps a metal crate....he hurls it at the remaining drone.
The floating orb of energy moves over to assist the allies in attacking.
Ghiv, from his perch in the observation dome where he can watch the Drift pass by, comms Did you see that! Small drones! and when the impact is felt he leaps from the dome to the main deck and runs to the rear.
He watches as Threign is slammed by a bolt of energy. Ghiv reaches out to the universe and summons the power of the stars. A floating wisp of starfire appears and flies directly at one of the drones.

Here's my character I'd be interested in playing. Ghiv is a Priest of Ibra, the Inscrutable God of the Cosmos. His particular sect of Ibran priests are martially minded and travel the Vast to find and defend items and areas of cosmological importance. Ghiv himself is a quiet, reserved individual who prefers to study and listen rather than speak. He prefers the diplomatic solution rather than the violent one. When roused to violence though, Ghiv prefers to fight up close and will defend his allies with steadfast determination. In combat Ghiv is a melee combatant, engaging with his ceremonial blade (longsword decorated with various Ibran icons). He uses the powers of the Cosmos to assist him in this task (Wisp Ally). If forced to fight at distance he will use the powers of the Cosmos to harass his enemies (Telekinetic Projectile). As for this particular story... Ghiv is en route to (insert AP location) with the other heroes because he is investigating a rumor of a discovered artifact of cosmological importance. (starship drives certainly fit the bill) Ghiv's sayings and aphorisms The Universe will provide.
Note on mechanics: Ghiv won't really get good at combat for a few levels. For now his main focus would be getting between the ranged guys and the bad guys.

I've always played that a pace of 6 was 30' not...6x2x3=36ft Like, a pace of 6 = 6 squares of 5ft movement. Otherwise movement becomes a maddeningly complex series of mathematical computations.
