Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Hey guys, due to the stresses of RL, I will no longer be able to participate in this game. Thanks for the opportunity and hope to see you all on the boards in the future!
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Gerant nods his head on letting the halfling join them, eager to get going.
Does anyone have detect evil or true seeing? Wouldn't hurt to double check any stragglers we pick up.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"If the blade quires a wielder to steal souls, then not touching it is the best idea. We've limited resources and should conserve them for the fights to come. Just put the blade away lads, this hokah will soon die out. Let's enjoy it while it last."
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"Then let's get rid of it. We're wasting precious hokah smoking time!"
I am big fan of hookah smoking in real life. Ain't no sword gonna stand in the way of ma character get his share, soul stealing or not ;)
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"What's so dangerous about a sword with no wielder? Don't tell me it dances around on it's own. And even so, it's in a box. Why haven't you just toss that thing away or bury it somewhere?"
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"Why would you be afraid of just a blade my friend? Tell me the wielder and I'll take care of it!"
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Sense Motive - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
"Oh come on guys, there MUST be a rational explanation!" Exclaimed Gerange, sword in one hand, huka in another, "Why would...hey buddy, where ya going?"
Sorry about the lack of posts, my comp broke so I can only post from work.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Sense Motive:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
"Don't mind if I do!" Gerant takes the pipe and inhales deeply, "Ahhh...now that's the GOOD stuff! Hey guys you need to try this out!"
Gerant gestures for his friends to join in.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
1d20 ⇒ 18
Gerant strides into the room. "Have you seen Keraptis? And can I try some of that hookah?"
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
With his falchion ready, Gerant pushes the door open.

If there are no traps found, she asks if the others want her to continue on using the mist to provide some cover, or do they want to continue on in front?
"This mist bodes ill, let the big boys handle what's to come!"
Miffed for missing on the action last time, Gerant steps forward to open the door.
If the door is untrapped/unlocked, then let's be on our way.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"Well that was a lot of running around for nothing. Damn my short legs for denying me the glory."
Gerant then joins Jequine in looking around.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Gerant will close in on the Manticore as fast as he can, double moving is necessary.
Due to the lack of a map, I can't tell how far I am away from it.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
I guess Gerant will ready action to attack if the manticore comes down
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"Come down here and face me!" Cries Gerant.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Is it the Manticore's turn again after Sheridan?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Gerant runs toward Sheridan while tugging his weapon free, eyeing the beast in the sky.

Xaldinaar the Ancient wrote: Valanos wrote: Valanos will jump down, initiative is 4, weapon ready.
I'm assuming sand is rough terrain, unable to charge? The manticore can, as flight allows such things. Oh that's a good point...very good point indeed...sorry gerant, you'll have to run up to attack... That's ok. I'll do that when it's my turn. Who's turn is it? The Manticore's?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
I am going to wait until after the manticore, not that I have much options. So it will take me 2 round to get there: 1 round of running and another to charge? Or just one round of charging to get there?

Perception check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Can we hear what is going on?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Can he belately realize it's a trap?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
I think Sheridan is probably the best candidate. If he's willing.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
I guess Gerant will sit this one out then. Give me a shout if he's needed.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Who should we send? Someone charismatic or someone tough to withstand an ambush?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
I only got knowledge dungeoneering. Guess it's up the spellcasters.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"What is the drop in the chute? Can we maybe jab at the bug with a spear or something? Going down seems a bit reckless; it's certainly a last resort if nothing else works."
Can we toss down a dagger, then caste an area effect spell on it (while it's in the air, close to the bugs) like fireball? Just a thought.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Alright, let's move on to the next chute. Will Jequine be checking for clues, traps?
perception for clues/traps: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24

Jequine wrote: Sheridan Barlow wrote: "Sounds like a plan to me."
If there are no last-minute objections, Summon Monster 4 for a Medium Water Elemental. Sounds a like a plan to me, jequine isn't too hot in water either. Yup, let's do this.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"I say we scout it out first. Once we ascertain the enemy's #s and ID, we can plan accordingly. If they have the ability to climb up the chute, then I think luring them would be a good idea."
Anyone have a spell that can do the trick? If not we can lower the person with the properly knowledge down...
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"Well then, let's go!"
Gerant pulls out a grappling hook and secures it on the chute, then slowly lowers the rope down into the water.
"If we have to swim, we should at least try not to alert the beasts."
Is everyone still with us? Delwyn hasn't post in a while and the cavalier never made an appearance.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
The only reason to rest is to so that Delwyn can memorize Freedom of Movement for everyone. If we're not resting, then we have to figure out a way to either fight effectively under water or find a patch of dry land to engage the enemy. If I recall correctly, our last encounter in water didn't go well...
Sheridan, I might have asked this before, but can Gannertung fight amphibious? Can you perhaps summon some creatures to either aid us in water or at least distract the enemy long enough so we can get out of the aquatic environment?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"Great. Any ideas on how to make us more effective in underwater combat? Failing that, anyway we can bypass having to get in the water all together?"
There are two ways that I can think of. The first is we caste a bunch of FLYs and just fly pass them. Second, we cast a bunch of Freedom of Movements and take the fight to them. I prefer the second method because there is no guarantee of a place to land if we fly. Also, the next chute could be underwater and I rather be able to fight. I think either method requires us to rest so the casters can prep the spells.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Sending the archon's a good idea. DM says water 8 feet deep after a 25 foot or so drop, so I assume the level is not fully submerged?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"What are we going to do about this water? None of us are good fighting in it. Scout it out first with dolphins like last time?"
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Gerant, weapon in hand, takes up position to guard against any surprises.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
Edit: He also takes pleasure in studying the granular nature of each individual grain of sand with his awesome perfection.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
So what lies beyond the horizon of sand and glass?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
"Well then, shall we?"
Gerant wipes some blood on the scorpion and starts trudging forward.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Good thinking.
Knowledge dungeoneering: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Gerant looks at the sand that stretches into the distance. "Which way should we go?"
From the map, it seems that there are two general directions. Any ideas on right or left? Are we suppose to find someone/thing?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Finally gotten his cloak free, Gerant turns around, axe at the ready, and finds the final foe overwhelmed by his comrades.
"Ah well, two out of three ain't so bad."
Now that the party is out of danger, Gerant takes a closer look at his surrounding. What does he see?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Xaldinaar the Ancient wrote: Scorpion 3 is still alive. Let's put you on E2, standing on the corpse of scoprion 2 to get the shot on scorpion 1. Thanks!
Gerant plucks his axe out of the head of the splattered scorpion and makes his way toward the last monster (from E2 to C4 to avoid an attack of opportunity), a predatory gleam in his eyes.
single atk (with power attack + bless): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 142d4 + 18 ⇒ (4, 2) + 18 = 24
EDIT: here's hoping that my comrades kill that thing before I get there...
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Welcome back and glad you had a great vacation!
I am a bit confused on the battle though. Which scorpion is still alive? Scorpion 1?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Are we resuming till after the holidays?
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Xaldinaar the Ancient wrote: Gerant Altidor wrote: ** spoiler omitted ** ** spoiler omitted ** Fair enough, 21 dmg for that atk and 23 dmg from the first atk in the post above.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Gerant follows up with 2 more swings, trying to take this scorpion down.
1st atk (with power attack + bless): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 242d4 + 18 ⇒ (4, 3) + 18 = 25
2nd atk (with just bless): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 282d4 + 18 ⇒ (4, 3) + 18 = 25
2nd atk crit confirm: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 182d4 + 18 ⇒ (1, 4) + 18 = 23
I don't think the entire dmg bonus gets the x2, but I can't figure out what doesn't apply. Does anyone know from the breakdown above what gets the x2 and what doesn't? Thanks!
If Gerant kills the scorpion, he will 5-foot into E2.
Male Dwarf Fighter 7
Xaldinaar the Ancient wrote: Question about your dmg I wish my bonus dmg is 23! The bonus is just 18 with power attack. Here's the breakdown for everything.
Total Dmg = 23
- Weapon Dmg = 2d4 = 1 + 4 = 5
- STR Dmg = 4 x 2 (Backswing) = 8
- WP SPEC = 2
- WP TRAIN = 1
- MAGIC = 1
- P ATK = 6
