i'll take it then. i have slightly higher to-hit with no magic weapons, and it only has a +1 to hit so there will be no change for you other than the damage. i was on the fence about it while looking at our sheets, but i figure you have a wider variety of actions aside from "just melee" than I have, which means i will be more likely to use a melee option and benefit from it.

if i am half-living, can i blink through the walls half the time? is there a way i can tell if i can get through them when i use my energy leap?

i dont have a 40ft speed, i actually have 20ft unless i de-summon my armor. that said, my armor can size change me. @DM if i change my size down to tiny so that my space is 1/4th of a 5ft square, can i avoid damage that way? otherwise Gemheart is in for a long slog. I'd try to do my elemental leap through the walls but you said it blocks the living? what about the half-living? hah
