I'm pulling out of this recruitment. Best gaming!I

Is there an expected deadline?

Here is my application for a supporting bard that can hold his own in melee and range combat.

Just got accepted for another game. Best I pull out of this one.

Happy gaming!

Dreaming Warforged here.

Still not sure about domains and main fighting style, but otherwise ready.

Drifter, grifter, and caregiver, Gauthier follows the roads of Taldor, moving from one community to the next, serving Erastil’s will by helping the community with their problems, whatever shape they may take. Born with his nose in books, Gauthier was given to the church at a young age when his family fell from grace. He found solace in the faith and in the community of men, happy to share his time between faith, literature, and people.

Let me know if you have questions or comments.

Please note that I'll be away starting tomorrow and returning Wednesday. I will likely be unable to post regularly. Please bot me as needed.

Gauthier gives Rey a weak smile, thinking of the good old days long past...

"Better cross that room and find out... I'm sure the Muddy Bastards are more creative than that..."

"Ah... Thanks Rey, I needed the map; I was getting confused..." mumbles Gauthier, before agreeing to go the unesplored way.

"Damn fish!" he muuters under his breath.

Gauthier raises an eyebrow as he gives Sargon a closer look.

Heal: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28

Will: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 20 = 36

"There's no more door! Let's get fall back and consider our other options." Gauthier clarifies.

1d100 ⇒ 47

Gauthier is heard cursing loudly through the fog, but fortunately no one sees the hideous snarl that accompanies him as he walks up to the door Dragox and Omar have pried open and turns it into mud.

Using the mud ring's power!

"I'm sure Dragox can pry it open, no?" asks Gauthier, stealing a glance at Dragox.

"Found something? Need help?" Gauthier asks, keeping his eyes on the corridor.

I think either Gauthier or Rey, or both, would guard the back.

Perception: 1d20 + 34 ⇒ (11) + 34 = 45

"Ok, how about we just go back for now and explore another part? Let's just backtrack a bit. We need to be mindful of that blade trap though..." he shrugs.

"That's good to know... So how do we get ready for it? What we know is that it is unseen, yet not invisible, and has used a combination of obfuscating and conjuring incantations..." grumbles Gauthier, his body bent by doubt.

Bertholdt prefers to wait, looking to Sargon: "Any idea what's attacking us? I mean, is it all just simple tricks?"

Will: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 23

"You'll have to. I'm of no use with this muck... I wonder who's doing all this..." adds Gauthier, uncertain about what to do next.

Sorry, but I can't contribute at the moment.

Too bad, but I understand where you're coming from EJC. In any case, many thanks for the time and effort you've put into this. It was great fun this far.

And happy gaming to all of you!

Was waiting for Sargon actually...

Gauthier, alarmed, casts a spell to show invisible creatures.

Cast invisibility purge 65 foot radius around me.

My action depends on how the others' are resolved.

Please note I'll be away for Eastern from Thursday to Monday, with little if no posting possible. Feel free to bot me as needed.

You follow the passage back out of the secret room, but quickly realize that the entire dungeon has shifted around you. Gone is the room, and instead a new hallway extends west briefly before turning sharply north.

Following this takes you to another turn back east, and opens into a broader hallway which in turn opens into a large room. With a twenty-five-foot-high ceiling, this new chamber is supported by a great number of cleverly carved gray marbel pillars decorated with intertwining thorny roses, snakes, and delicately clawed hands making strange signs. A twenty foot square pool sits in the center of the chamber, and the columns block sight of the walls from where you stand, hiding any further exits.

Map updated. You're all standing at the entrance to the large room, no traps found up till that point, gazing into it.

Gauthier exhales loudly: "That place..." he mutters.

As the group walks away, Bertholdt hesitates, then walks quickly back and gives the gate a shake, and it opens: "Hey! It wasn't locked, just... stuck?"

Bertholdt lets the others pass him and reverse path, then proceeds to close the line, casting a last glance at the gate, wondering how they could open it.

Gauthier's nerves are as tense as the string on his bow, with death feinting to pluck at them with each bent in a corridor.

He nods to Omar's suggestion: "All good?"

Crap, I forgot about divine interference thus far. Please keep in mind that Gauthier can help with a failed save check or an enemy's confirmed critical. I also can use touch of good to give a +6 bonus to skills.

Gauthier gives Rey a faint smile: "I'm old, Rey: fear is all I have left. Fear and faith..."

As they move again, Gauthier wonders out loud: "What if this happens again? What have we learned from this near-death experience? Can we say we'd fare better, or simply repeat the same mistakes? This place is a death-trap!"

Just for my own knowledge, nothing else would have worked once the saves were failed?

This is a nasty trap!

"Our worst enemy... We are. Best to leave all this behind, and speak of fish no more!" mumbles Gauthier with the experienced smile of one who's chosen to walk the dangerous path and is at peace with its outcomes.

Greater Magic Weapon.

Poor Sargon...

So far, it's been one of the deadliest encounters I've had, and nine rounds is a loooong time!

Parts of me would like to make sure this is indeed what will happen. Perhaps the control water spell will allow a new save or cancel the effect? Perhaps one of us gets killed. If Sargon gets free, things could go south quickly if he decides to use spells...

But if the rest of the group prefers to skip a few rounds, I'm ok with that too :)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Round 2 action

As it dawns on Gauthier that T'wich is much too fast for him, he steps back and decides to try something else entirely.

5-foot step back.

Staying clear of the others, he invokes the power of the Mud ring and concentrates on draining the pools of their water, hoping to disrupt the fish's effect on his companions.

Cast Control Water from the ring.

Perhaps the bag attack should be resolved first?

Bag attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

Gauthier wishes he could just run away, but that would mean Dragox and Sargon killing each other...

So he stays, grabs his bag, then moves up to T'wich, still held by Omar, and tries to put the bag on his head!

Not sure what to roll, so her gos a CMB check, kind of a dirty trick...

CMB: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

Can I bot him!? Me! Me! Please? Pleeeeaaaaaase???!!! Yes? Ok: I delay!!! ;)

Sargon is before me...

"Ah, the fish... Then put a sack on their heads!!!" orders Gauthier as he thinks of a way to help his companions and looks through his belongings to find a packing back he hurries to empty on the floor.

Getting one bag ready.

"What's causing this!? Somebody explain!!!" asks Gauthier, not sure what to do next.

Delay if possible.

Initi: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

"By the Dark Glutton, if you keep on going about food, I swear I'm- Hey! what's going on?!?"

Gauthier slips on the ring with a great sense of responsibility, then he slips in his place in the file, drawing an arrow and notching it in his bow.

Well look what we got here

Sargon will cast Detect magic on the ring and show the group.

Rey, you want to take look at this ring

"A ring? In the cushion?! These sorcerers are full of surprises..."

"But even the demiplane of doom rejected you... Surely the snake would have preferred not to kiss you..."
