Aerflae has a grave look on his face, one that shows he means business, and does not want to mess around with this problem. He glances up to the scowling wizard as he's finishing.

Garyd shifts forward and takes up the discussion. His presentation appears that he "allowed" Aerflae to begin and is now the focus of the request.

"Well said my friend, well said." Garyd smiles. "I have witnessed these incidents myself as well. As soon as it was brought to my attention I knew that an investigation must be pursued. I fear something may be preying upon our citizens. Despite my other business with the Marchioness and my family, I felt it was my duty to attend to this. My late father, Lord Vyctiro would have done no less. Also, the cost to you is minimal. Your grant of permission. If we are wrong," Garyd shrugs, "No harm."

"If something is discovered that may lead to the cause of the malady it no less than a reflection of your sound judgment that you allowed us to investigate. We are no charlatans looking to crook coins with some cure of chicanery I can assure you. If my reputation is not adequate, I am placing my family's at risk as well." Garyd smiles.

“I understand that you wish to see me gentlemen. Follow me to my office. Count I hope you are having a nice day and I shall send my batman for you shortly.”

Garyd takes to his feet, smiles at the Count, "A pleasure." Then strides after the Captain-General.

“So it sounds but the truth of the matter I just want so quiet time. And it does so sound quiet. Politics I couldn’t care less for. Of course I would show up for the voting and do my part but a quiet reprieve to the country is what I wish for.”

"I too look forward to meeting the Marchioness as well. Hopefully the claims of sons are less difficult to untangle than those of cousins." Garyd smiles.

"I know how precious time can be, especially after suffering a loss or a debilitating injury. A quiet place is good for recovery of the body and spirit. If you can accomplish something with honest work while recuperating, so much the better."

Garyd watches the other two over his cup and attempts to gauge their reactions to the conversation.

If either catches him watching, Garyd will tip his cup and smile.

Aerflae graciously thanks the townsfolk for such warmth.

"Gentlemen, shall we?" Aerflae says with a bow and a flourish for Garyd to lead the way again

As they begin, Aerflae absently checks his pockets just in case...

"We shall." Garyd salutes Aerflae and then the crowd, smiling.

"When we pass back this way, we'll turn here," pointing north, "Towards my home."

CMB12 +12= 24 for the grapple check. I have 40' move. 15' to the worker, 25' remains. Half that is 12'. I'll place him adjacent with Garyd between the worker and the collapse. It should miss me by that _ much.

a wooden support at one end of the scaffold is about to give way as a heavy stone block begins sliding out of the façade of the building, and that one of the workers is directly below it.

emilda the flower lady screams and the rest of the people around you are stiff with shock.

What do you do?

Garyd dashes forward, attempting to pull the worker to safety while shouting, "Get clear! It's coming apart!"

Taking 10 + Perception 9 = 19

At the south side of the temple is a network of scaffolding swarming with laborers making repairs to some of the iconic statues. Hundreds of flowers and bouquets lie in heaps on the ground below. Nearby, an old woman wrestles with a handcart piled with bouquets of wildflowers obviously gathered from outside the city. As pedestrians move around her, she calls out “Flowers for Pelor?” It, is here where you would turn left and head past the Gilded house, to head towards West citadel to speak for entrance to facilities.

Garyd steps toward the woman and presses a gold piece in her hand.

"Milady, please see that Pelor and ALL of the gods that aid Istivin receive their flowery due." Garyd plucks a flower for his lapel and smiles, "I'm not a god, but I can use the sprucing up!" He winks at her and rejoins the rest to continue guiding them.

"Thank you, Gent, that is most gracious. I believe our first stop should be the local constabulary to get our permissions. Garyd, would you happen to know the way? I'd very much appreciate any help getting into the facility. This... problem reeks of the dark places no one wants to think about."

Aerflae stands and prepares his cloak for the less... wet weather

Aerflae plans on leaving and following Garyd to wherever it is necessary to get the authorization into the "facility." Hey, Garyd actually knows where he's going. It'd be blind luck for Aerflae

"Certainly! Once we have those permits out of the way I would like to visit with my mother and introduce you to her. If enough time remains perhaps make an appointment with the Marchioness Emondav as well."

Smiling, "You have summed up the event succinctly and well."

Turning to the Sargent, "I commend you and your men. They are quite skilled in finding advantageous placement and assessing threats. This reflects well upon you. Is there anything else that I can do to assist you? The Vyctiro family has always been a servant of Istivin. This mysterious event has piqued our interest. My companions and I are ready to lend a hand. Or spell. Or well-placed compliment. Even a threatening visage if needed." As he scowls in mock sincerity.

Garyd has been listening to the table conversation with interest. Trying to tie together what he knows, has heard, and observed to make some sense out of this mess his home has become.

"It seems that this lunacy does not grip the commonfolk alone. Missives from my family tell me of duels, vendettas, and murders that plague the nobility as well. Perhaps being new or newly returned to Istivin may not suffer the malady that inflicts the current residents?"

Garyd tries to restrain the leatherworker after he is separated from the tanner.

"Calm yourself! Are you mad?!"

Garyd stands, "Gentlemen, I am ashamed to call myself a son of Istivin if this is how patriots behave. Has our apetite for bloodshed returned? After such a hardwon campaign we turn on ourselves?"

He walks toward them, "Are your greivances more severe than a spilt drink? If so, tell me what they are so we can assess them. If not, step outside to finish this for some of us are weary and wish respite."

Garyd smiles, "And some are bored and wish to see others fight."

The ruckus of the imminent barfight is finally enough to pull Garyd's attention from his mother's letter.

"Whoa. A tussle."

Yep. RL intrusion kept me offline for a bit.

"Emil? Why in the Abyss are you on gate duty? You should be boots up on a desk with a cup in hand!" Garyd says with a smile.

"I've collected a world-wise crew to bring their talents, ambitions, and skills to Istivin. Although I think they may have come just so they could get me to shut up about the place," accentuated with a grand gesture.

Pointing to the scribe, "Make sure to mark that Garyd "Bladebolt" Vyctiro has returned from travels abroad," said with another smile.

Garyd shrugs, "They aren't really trying to stop anyone from getting inside. They're trying to get an accounting of who IS coming here and what their business is. In case of an assault on the city it could be the only way to identify anyone afterwards. At least, that is what they used to do. I've been gone for awhile so things could have changed though."

"Fellows, it doesn't look like much but it looks a damn sight better than a few years ago. I know of a few places that are decent places to stay that won't pad up your bill. Too much." With a sly smile.

Garyd's hand brushes against a breast pocket on his vest and then he begins walking towards Istivin.
