About Garrokmal

Garrokmal (sometimes "Garrok," "Rock," or "Gary" for those testing the limits of his patience) doesn't remember his parents. His first memories are of growing up in a Sczarni bandit camp, the half-orc being a subject of curiosity and sometimes humiliation for the scofflaws that made up its people.

Then came the raid... The Sczari were raiding Sandpoint, and the still young Garrok insisted that he come along to prove his worth in battle. However, the town was prepared for the fight and most of the bandits were wiped out. Sheriff Hemlock found the youth, and rather than exiling him, decided to see that he was brought up properly, that his strength may someday be an asset for the frequently imperiled town.

The Sheriff placed him with a human family, and so most of his formative years were spent among humans - learning Varisian, exploring the area, and occasionally stalking - eventually speaking to - some of the goblins that would pass through the area. Now he is Garrokmal the Abandoned, having been left behind by his parents and the humans he thought were his brothers.

Still, being such an outsider - a half-orc in a primarily human town - Garrokmal has frequently been singled out, criticized, set upon and beaten up (by armed gangs, of course - few humans can stand up to him on their own). So now he does his best to use his reserves of inner rage for the benefit of the town, to make the Sheriff that gave him a chance proud of him, and occasionally to beat scraps of information out of any Sczari he comes across. Perhaps one day he'll find someone who knows where the survivors of his old camp are, and perhaps they know something of where he came from.
