About Garrick Hathorne

Description:

Name: Garrick Hathorne

Age: 20 Height: 5’5” Weight: 200 lbs Eyes: Brown Hair: Black
Languages: Common, Gnome
Favored Class: Fighter [used alternate human bonus for +1 CMD on grapple and trip]

Short and barrel-chested, if Garrick had a full beard instead of a goatee, he might be mistaken for a tall dwarf. His terse manner of speaking can sometimes be off-putting for those who do not know him well.

Garrick cares very little about his personal appearance and grooming habits. Even without his pockmarked skin, greasy hair, and a nose that has been broken too many times to count, he would still be a homely man.

When it comes to his gear and weaponry, however, his attitude is different. Garrick maintains his equipment meticulously, polishing his armor and sharpening his blades every chance he gets. He does this not out of vanity, but rather to maximize the effectiveness of his equipment.

Background:

Garrick has a face that only a mother could love. Unfortunately for him, his mother died giving birth to him. A dark cloud seemed to follow Garrick around most of his life. As a child, he was always picking fights with bigger children, trying to take out his anger on someone, while at the same time hoping for the punishment he felt he deserved for his "involvement" in his mother's death.

At the age of 12 his life took a turn when his father, a simple laborer, told him that a Pathfinder named Venture-Captain Shevala owed him a great debt. Garrick never asked his father what he had done to earn such a thing, and his father never volunteered the information. What he did say was Shevala had agreed to allow Garrick to be schooled and perhaps someday join the Pathfinders.

Garrick never particularly cared for the majority of the academic pursuits (with the exception of lore surrounding the red redoubt and its exploration), but he took quite naturally to marital training. He is extraordinarily thankful for the people he counts as his friends, and would gladly put himself in harms way to protect them.
