You have a nasty habit of putting words in people's mouths and building straw-men.

And what exactly did I put in Bludd's mouth ?

Don't try, again, to derail and manipulate the subject.

This is a game with consequences for playing a psychopath, and you try to argue for having no consequences.

You don't want to play an antagonist, this is just excuses, as always.

And seriously, stop talking about compromise, that's laughable.

The main point of contention seems to be that you view it as 'consequences for being a psychopath' while others are viewing the handling of reputation (and by extension alignment) as 'consequences for non-consensual PvP' -- which they see as providing a chilling effect on certain styles of play necessary to keep to the stated goal of meaningful PvP and emergent gameplay. Consensual PvP is not the same as meaningful PvP, it's just a subset of it.

I would like some clarification on how these results were arrived at, because from the understanding I had of the process, Freevale should not be where it is currently placed.

I'm more than a little curious to see how the reputation system and force-locking people out of character advancement is going to go. Because from what I'm seeing, the reputation and alignment system seem to be heavily geared towards forcing people to play a certain way. While this is all well and good, it seems like it could also be better served by just locking everyone down to only being able to PvP in stringent circumstances. Why allow for open PvP while (to me) over-harshly punishing random attacks?

It feels a lot like they want to have the experience of emergent open PvP games, while also stripping away the very freedoms that make these possible. I can't predict exactly how this will go, but my current impressions are 'not well'.

Tyncale was referring specifically to the fact that I have one of the taverns from the second kickstarter. There were six of these sold (and four more still available from the Goblinworks store). These are unusual in that they can't be destroyed so long as their upkeep is paid. However, they have to be in NPC controlled hexes (i.e. one of the three NPC towns or on a major road connecting them)... and those NPC hexes can't be part of any player settlement.

However, there are also going to be 'point of interest' taverns that any settlement can build in their own territory. It isn't clear what all of the differences between the two types will be, but drinks will certainly be available from both. So, I think it makes sense to build a tavern in Freevale's territory once we have the resources. Freevale residents will also have access to whatever amenities are provided by my tavern in NPC territory.

Interesting, I had completely forgotten about that backer level. That would actually be quite awesome, having some amenities while we're in NPC territory.

Welcome all newcomers to the Freevale settlement. We're growing, and we'll continue to grow.

I actually really like the Tavern idea. A tavern in our Chaotic settlement would be a good draw for people. And it would give everyone a little home away from home. That's fully stocked with liquor. And food. So, better than home.

I would also like to thank and welcome CBDunkerson and The Outsiders. With their addition, Freevale is now sitting at 5 members. All it would take is 3 more members to secure a spot at #15, which would put us in an amazing position come the draft on the first.

As a member of Blunt Logic as well, I'm throwing my hat in for the 'get a bunch of companies together and make a shared settlement' thing. Given the way that this is likely to play out, merging small Companies into a single big settlement seems to be the way to go to secure a piece of land for the small guys.

Additionally, I do like the idea of each company/member bringing something different to Freevale and shaping how the settlement as a whole forms. It could lead to something truly unique being born.

So come on down to Freevale and help make something... interesting.
