PFS Scenario Shades of Ice series Part 1-3 (tier 1-5)

Hello,

Winter is coming or it already has for some of you. Starting Dec. 1, 2018 I plan to run the Shades of Ice series. I am currently playing in it and am enjoying the content as I am a fan of everything Irrisen.

If you want to join us, please fill out the sign up sheet and post here to let me know that you're on board. This is first come first serve. I am more than happy to run this at higher tier if some of you have higher levels that need an adventure.

Due to the holidays, this game will be at a slower pace. So if you're in a hurry, this might not be the game for you.

Happy Gaming!

Hello,

This table is ready for another player. This is based off of a game series and you are not required to have any knowledge about the game.

Things I would like to know in this recruitment:

- How much experience do you have with Pathfinder rules?
- Are you familiar with PbP formatting and how to?
- Are you familiar with the Breath of Fire series? Have you played it? Which version?
- How many PbP games are you currently active in? Do you GM any?
- Will you be able to check the game at least daily or every other day to post? If not explain and we can work with you.
- What type of characters do you like to play? Personality, Class, Themes!

If you are in any of my games, that's OK you can apply to this too.

If you have any questions about the game, I might answer but I won’t give you build information. That is reserved for Session 0! But if your submission is solely based on a specific build or race, feel free to ask if it’s allowed but we shall not go into details. Please also, don’t submit character sheets or backstories.

Hi, my table has played a number of Paizo AP's and modules but never with PFS characters or credit. I ran into a random thread somewhere that was talking about the legality of claiming credit for these games for legal PFS characters.

So is this true? What proof do we need and is reporting the same? Is there a link that talks about this? We have played a good number of them and I don't think they ever plan to play them again in PFS for credit.

Hello,

I am researching and preparing to become a PFS GM. I am already a very experienced GM of 4 years and figured, why not. I'll be running some tier 1-5 season modules to get warmed up but I am bold and want to get a special to my heart module going.

1. Do level 17 society characters exist? Do you think it would be hard to recruit on the forums for those that qualify?

2. I am thinking about running The Witchwar Legacy and not sure what tier I could set it at, so that not everyone has to be level 17. or is that not allowed for modules.

3. Any advice on high level PFS games?

4. Am I nuts? Any extra help or insight is always welcome.

Risen from the Sands

Hello,

I am recruiting for 1-3 tables of the Risen from the Sands Module by Paizo for level 3 characters. This will be slightly modified per table. This will not be a society game. We will go over details about the module later when you’re selected. Build rules will be established after we select a group where you all can coordinate together to make a party.

Things I would like to know in this recruitment:

- How much experience do you have with Pathfinder rules?
- How much experience do you have with Roleplaying in general?
- Are you familiar with PbP formatting and how to?
- Have you ever played the Risen from the Sands before, even just a little? (please be truthful)

But if your submission is solely based on a specific build or race, feel free to ask if it’s allowed but we shall not go into details. Please also, don’t submit character sheets or backstories.

Recruitment ends when the first 2 tables fill up. If I have overflow, a 3rd might be set up as well.

Breath of Fire

Breath of Fire Play by Post Build Rules

- Starting at LVL 1

- Starting MAX gold

- 2 Traits, no drawbacks or regional traits

- Max starting health for your classes HD and max every level after that. Things are going to get intense later game with potentially long battles. Also, sleeping will heal double your HD in this game.

- Races: Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Half-Elf, Halfling, Human, Aquatic Elf, Catfolk, Grippli, Ratfolk, Lizardfolk, Tengu, Gillmen, Kitsune, Merfolk, Nagaji, Gnoll, Kobold, Wyvaran, Dhampir, Samsaran & Vanara (the other races don’t exist in this world) SIDE NOTE: The lifespan of these races will all be equivalent to a Humans in this game

- Languages are currently limited to the list of playable races. You may discover new ones over time, but there won't be a whole lot of barriers so don't think to much on it.

- All classes are allowed except for 3rd party, Mythic, Gunslinger or Vigilante. (Warpriests, Paladins, Oracles & Clerics will be influenced by an unknown force that will count as your god. We can work with each other on what you would like access to for character building and see if it fits the theme of this unknown force)(any bloodlines tied to the restricted races will be restricted, if you're not sure just ask.)

- No Evil alignments (you’re being raised in a Lawful Good village that is very open minded)

- 20 point buy for stats

- We are using Unchained Background Skills & Alternate Crafting and Profession Rules

- Pounce (Ex): I have many issues with Paizo’s wording. If you fail to grab you can continue with your claw attacks as normal. If you succeed on the grab, then you can continue with the rake attacks with appropriate modifiers due to grapple. In other words, no your companion is not going to get 5 attacks on a charge/pounce. We can discuss but I will not be changing this ruling. This rule also applies to me and all creatures I will run with it.

Background choices for character development will be limited to these options. Your character has not traveled outside of the surrounding area of your village and you really never had a desire to or if you did you suppressed it. You have been to the kingdom to the north a number of times in your life but no grand adventures have been had. If you’re an aquatic type race, you would have visited a fishing spot to the south often but never ventured further to the land farther south across the ocean.

You do not know who your parents are. You are told they fought in the last uprising of the Dark Dragons and as a noble sacrifice gave their lives to end the war. You all have strong bonds with each other knowing that your parents fought together.

You can be siblings or just friends, but you are friendly with each other with no sour ties. (If you’re different races, then you’re likely adopted or just friends.)

Things you do know. When you were just a baby a minor war happened. You’re told this is a reoccurring war as the Dark Dragons never seem to give up. It has been many lifetimes since the last successful uprising but history shows the White Dragons were able to final defeat the Dark Dragons and restore peace. You are told the White Dragons are no longer in existence due to the many wars over time and that your parents fought alongside the last. Many fear what would happen if the Dark Dragons were to return. Your parents died 20 years ago so your current age is between 20-24, your choice. Any memories you would have had of them was wiped out due to magic (though you don’t know that). You have lived a peaceful life in this village. You happily participate in the daily operations of keeping this village running, chores & duties. Maybe you have a lover, maybe you don’t but you certainly are not married and you don’t have any children.

Final Note: The Dark Dragons and Light Dragons are not necessarily Dragons but history has shown Dragons among the many soldiers that fought each war. Very little documentation is available due to many wars. The world has few cities and low world population as it continuously tries to repopulate before the next war breaks out. Your Elders will tell you stories about the brave people who fought, each having their own unique powers. The Elders of this village that are raising you did not fight in the war, they were tasked with the important job of preserving the young and to help guide them in the new world of unknown consequences.

OK let’s get talking and see what we can come up with.

Hello,

I started a group through a homebrew/jrpg called Breath of Fire. I spent a lot of time designing it to be playable in play by post format and figured I could open up a second table and enjoy how the groups experience it differently.

But if your submission is solely based on a specific build or race, feel free to ask if it’s allowed but we shall not go into details. Please also, don’t submit character sheets or backstories.

The Ruby Phoenix Tournament

The Ruby Phoenix Tournament Play by Post Build Rules

  • Starting at LVL 11
  • 2 Traits, no drawbacks
  • 82,000 gp (do not spend all your money on one big item, please spread it out)
  • All Races 16 or lower RP, no androids.
  • All classes are allowed except for 3rd party, Occult, Summoner or Vigilante.
  • This is a Martial Arts Tournament. So your builds will be based on martial fighting. Casting is allowed but only damage spells are looked down upon.
  • No Evil alignments
  • 20 point buy for stats
  • We are using Unchained Background Skills, just because we can.
  • No animal companions or summons.
  • Familiars are allowed, but not allowed to fight.
  • This is a tournament with the idea you’re not going to kill the contestants. It is frowned upon and can even disqualify you. It is encouraged to use non-lethal means to fight and also encouraged to use performance feats as there will be a crowd to hype up. However, there will be moments where lethal means are necessary and sometimes inflicted upon you.
  • Like real tables, sometimes players can't make it and I have to NPC them. I will have a 3 day rule. If we are waiting for you to post and it has been 3 days, I will NPC your character to keep the game moving. If you don't post for a week and you don't explain to the table why, we will assume you are no longer interested in playing.
  • This tournament assumes the party that entered will be the party that finishes. If a player suddenly stops playing, I will NPC their character as best I can with perhaps some modifications. We will not be recruiting to fill in anybody who quits.
  • Submitting a character is a contract that you plan (with the best of your ability) to play the whole tournament through with your team.

The sorceress Hao Jin left an indelible mark upon the land of Tian Xia. Throughout her centuries-long life, Hao Jin—a devout follower of Abadar, god of contracts, wealth, and order—set out to amass her own First Vault, a collection of those items she deemed most perfect or wondrous in all the world.

Among the many Abadaran pacts and contracts that dictated Hao Jin’s life was her carefully contracted agreement with the temple of Abadar in Goka regarding the fate of her collection in the event of her eventual death. Fearful that her treasures would fall into the wrong hands or simply be lost to history, Hao Jin left strict instructions that were she not to set foot within the temple for 10 years and a day, on the 10 year anniversary of that occasion, an epic competition of martial arts was to be held, overseen by the city’s Abadaran clergy; the winning team would be allowed to choose a single item as a prize for their victory. Not only would this prevent the collection from immediately being broken up, but it also ensured her life’s work would attain its own legendary immortality through the prestige the contest would bring.

During her lifetime, many who knew of her will attempted to end her life prematurely, and many succeeded. But Hao Jin had contingencies in place to such a degree that even her most cunning and careful wouldbe assassins underestimated her ability to return from the dead. Each time an enemy killed her, she miraculously emerged unscathed days later, her red hair a shade more vibrant than before her death. Her ability to overcome death and the resemblance her hair soon had to an animated, flickering flame earned Hao Jin the nickname Ruby Phoenix, and over the centuries of her life, many believed her to be truly immortal.

Yet in 6891 ic (Imperial Calendar; 4391 ar), a recordkeeper at Goka’s Grand Bank of Abadar informed the archbanker that a decade and a day had passed since the Ruby Phoenix last visited the temple. The conditions of her will had been met. As no one had seen nor heard from the sorceress for several years, she was assumed to have finally met her end, and the preparations were made to conduct the first Ruby Phoenix Tournament 10 years later. That tournament also established the office of the Emissary, an Abadaran official appointed for life to run the proceedings.

Each decennial since, the greatest champions from across Golarion have vied for the victors’ spot, and most contestants have competed honorably and passionately. A decade ago, however, the Ruby Phoenix Tournament was the subject of a terrible scandal that resulted in the first disqualification of a contestant in over a century.

The Ruby Phoenix Tournament takes place on an island in the wide harbor of Goka, an independent city-state on Tian Xia’s western coast. Goka lies at the one break in the nearly impassable Wall of Heaven Mountains, making it a hub of culture and trade between Tian Xia and Casmaron, Vudra, and the lands of the Inner Sea region far to the west.

You travel to the Xielan Island to compete in the Ruby Phoenix Tournament, an exclusive martial arts competition held every 10 years to test the world’s greatest warriors. The island is home to a quaint fishing village, but otherwise appears largely abandoned, save for the trappings of the decennial tournament.

Regardless of how the you hear of the Ruby Phoenix Tournament, the adventure assumes that you have already won one of the prized spots in the competition in a previous qualifier.

If there was ever a time to make a cohesive working party of 4, now is the time. Try to take advantage of the fact that you are a team.

The module will start with your team getting on the ferry to get to the island, unless you have other ways to arrive.

    The Ruby Phoenix Tournament

    Hello,

I am recruiting for 1-3 tables of the Ruby Phoenix Tournament Module by Paizo for level 11 characters.

    - Have you ever played the Ruby Phoenix Tournament before, even just a little? (please be truthful)
    - How many PbP games are you currently active in? Do you GM any?
    - Will you be able to check the game at least daily or every other day to post? If not explain and we can work with you.
    - What type of characters do you like to play? Personality, Class, Themes!

If you have any questions about the game, I might answer but I won’t give you build information. That is reserved for Session 0! But if your submission is solely based on a specific build or race, feel free to ask if it’s allowed but we shall not go into details. Please also, don’t submit character sheets or backstories.

    Happy Gaming

The date is 4713 AR on Oathday, 17th Earstus at 12:00 pm - current moon cycle: new moon
The location is Heldren - The Silver Stout

The sleepy village of Heldren has rarely seen so much excitement or concern. Hunters from the nearby Border Wood speak of unnaturally cold weather at the height of summer that descended on the forest just days ago. Heavy snow followed, and those who returned spoke of an uneasy presence in the woods, as well as new, dangerous predators. No one knows what this event means, but the town’s soothsayer, Old Mother Theodora, claims dark times lie ahead.

As if in proof of that dire prophecy, a badly wounded mercenary arrived in town yesterday, claiming to be a bodyguard of Lady Argentea Malassene. He told the village council that the noblewoman’s escort came under attack by bandits and strange, wintery creatures near the edge of the Border Wood. He alone escaped, and Lady Argentea was dragged away into the forest. Now the townsfolk cast fearful eyes toward the snowy forest, worried what else might emerge to threaten their peaceful village.

You will find your characters in Heldren as we begin the adventure. Depending on how long you’ve been visiting, you have come in contact with a few locals and had small talk. Perhaps you ran into them in the fields as you were passing by or in the Tavern as you stop for a drink or maybe you stopped here to get your horse a new shoe as one had fallen off during your long journey. They would have told you of the information above as well as some other strange occurrences happening lately. I have rolled your best of Knowledge (local) or Diplomacy. Try to use all information to drive the story forward. You may visit any location you choose but please attempt to meet each other. If it seems you guys are struggling on anything, I will do my best to move the story along without interrupting your fun.

    Diplomacy
    Asrick Swain 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
    Mina Javid 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
    Rikiru 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
    Rerdahl Tollan 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19

    Lore Each Character Gathered:

    Everyone:
Everyone says the weather is unseasonably cold for midsummer-it even snowed in the Border Wood! Most suspect magic is involved, and some fear Qadiran agents played a role in it.

Old Man Dansby claims that someone keeps stealing from his fields. His farm lies closest to the Border Wood, where half his crops have died from an icy frost and the rest have been carried off.

A farmer's son took ill a few days ago after falling through the ice over Wishbone Creek. The boy said he spotted a white stag in the forest-and heard it talking-then tried to follow it.

A group of rangers in the Border Wood called the High Sentinels usually keep bandit activity curbed. They're doing a poor job if brigands could attack a well-armed caravan and abduct Lady Argentea.

    Rerdahl Tollan & Asrick Swain:
Locals say a hunter named Dryden Kepp claimed he saw a giant white weasel on the High Ridge in the forest. No one believed him so he went back to trap it and prove them wrong.

    Asrick Swain:
Two weeks ago, Lady Argentea Malassene traveled past Heldren on her way from Oppara to Zimar to meet her betrothed. Rumor has it the two didn't get along and Lady Argentea caused a scandal by calling off the engagement and returning home.

Breath of Fire Play by Post Build Rules

    • Starting at LVL 1
    • Starting MAX gold
    • 2 Traits, no drawbacks or regional traits
    • Max starting health for your classes HD and max every level after that. Things are going to get intense later game with potentially long battles. Also, sleeping will heal double your HD in this game.
    • Races: Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Half-Elf, Halfling, Human, Aquatic Elf, Catfolk, Grippli, Ratfolk, Lizardfolk, Tengu, Gillmen, Kitsune, Merfolk, Nagaji, Gnoll, Kobold, Wyvaran, Dhampir, Samsaran & Vanara (the other races don’t exist in this world) SIDE NOTE: The lifespan of these races will all be equivalent to a Humans in this game
    • Languages are currently limited to the list of playable races. You may discover new ones over time, but there won't be a whole lot of barriers so don't think to much on it.
    • All classes are allowed except for 3rd party, Mythic, Gunslinger or Vigilante.
    • No Evil alignments (you’re being raised in a Lawful Good village that is very open minded)
    • 20 point buy for stats
    • We are using Unchained Background Skills & Alternate Crafting and Profession Rules
    • Pounce (Ex): I have many issues with Paizo’s wording.

If you were selected to play in this campaign, please review the build rules and communicate with your table to make a working party. Make sure you play what you want, not what others want you to play. I hope to start the game as soon as everyone is squared away with their character builds and ready to step into the setting.

We will be using google draw and this campaign forums with occasional links to media sources.

Please read the players guide you can download for free from Paizo

Taldor region you will be starting in is only a point of origin or meeting of characters.

Your characters will start in a small hamlet called Heldren. This is located near the Border Woods between Zimar and Demgazi within Taldor (South East of Oppara). This area is mostly known for logging, hunting and travel. There is no Inn, people usually pass by and some stop to get their horses reshoed. So if you don’t live in town, you are probably just passing by and stopped at the tavern for food or drink.

Take note that this region is no where near a snowy region and it is currently mid summer. Taldor is close to the equator and so it's pretty hot around this time of year and you probably will be dressed/equipped accordingly. So if you’re from the area, you’re actually not familiar with the wintery seasons, since they usually don’t get snow in these parts.

You can be living there, visiting or passing through. We will establish your characters placement in the world before we start the clock on game day. The adventure will start in the Tavern, mid day (if you’re outsider). If you are a local of Heldren, you can be anywhere “in” town at the aventure start and Teppen will come find you. Go ahead and use all this information given including the google link below to build your character's reason for being in this area, this particular hamlet. Your characters do not need to know each other but can if you so desire.

    Here is Heldren

Your game will start in the Year 4713 AR on Oathday, 17th Earstus at 12:00 pm - current moon cycle: new moon

Reign of Winter Play by Post Build Rules

    • Starting at LVL 1
    • Starting MAX gold
    • 2 Traits, no drawbacks (1 trait must be a trait from the Reign of Winter player's guide)
    • Max starting health for your classes HD
    • All Races 16 or lower RP (I encourage exotic races, the book does too! You will be going to many exotic places)
    • All classes are allowed except for 3rd party, Mythic, Occult or Vigilante.
    • No Evil alignments
    • 20 point buy for stats
    • We are using Unchained Background Skills & Alternate Crafting and Profession Rules
    • We are not using Pathfinder Society Rules, Hero Points, Words of Power, Ultimate Combat Armor/DR, Called Shots, Piecemeal Armor, Wounds or Vigor.
    • We are not using Unchained Gameplay, Stamina and Combat Tricks, Wounds Thresholds, Magic, Consolidated Skills, Grouped Skills, Skill Unlocks, Variant Multicasting, Fractional Base Bonuses or Staggered Advancement
    • No 3rd party material!
    • No material may be used from Mystic Adventures or Occult, including campaign settings and player companions related to those books. This includes anything related to the vigilante.
    • If you have dreams and desires to ride a flying mount, that might be an option if you can last in the game long enough. If you like guns, they are rare in this AP and it will be hard to get them and bullets, but there might be option if you can last in the game long enough.
    • At certain points in the game, more races will become available to play if you die. Do not intentionally die just so you can play one of those, but if you are unhappy with your current character, you can walk them off.
    • Pounce (Ex): I have many issues with Paizo’s wording.
    • I do not tolerate thieving from other players or hiding party loot from your allies. All loot will be divided equally among the party. You will keep track on your own character sheets what you have in your inventory. I will be 100% aware of the items I gave the party and the items you purchased/or started the game with. If you sell items the party found, the gold will be split. If it was something you bought yourself and now want to sell, then all the gold should go to you unless you want to share.
    • You will be traveling a lot. I mean…… A LOT. Also I’m gonna slap all kinds of environmental rules upon you so brace yourselves. This is no sissy’s campaign.
    • I would appreciate it if we can keep the rhythm of 1 post a day. If not more! If you're going to be absent please let me know. I also understand life is life so if you miss a day, just let me know you're OK and get a post up as soon as you can.
    • There is a high probability that someone’s character will die. No, I will not make up some stuff to have it come back to life. This adventure is dangerous and you the player are accepting this contract by submitting a character. Don’t be a poor sport if you die, but perhaps this will help you make wise decisions within the game for your table.
    • Like real tables, sometimes players can't make it and I have to NPC them. I will have a 3 day rule. If we are waiting for you to post and it has been 3 days, I will NPC your character to keep the game moving. If you don't post for a week and you don't explain to the table why, we will assume you are no longer interested in playing and will be replaced. No you will not be able to get back into my game. Make sure you communicate effectively to prevent this.
    • I do not need an intricate backstory. I most likely will not be utilizing it within this campaign. You can have one if you want, but all I need to know is why you're in Heldren on that date, at that hour.

OK that's it for now. Let's get to talking to each other about your concepts and things you prefer to play. I will answer all your questions promptly.

This is our new discussion thread. I have waited a week for Paizo to move the other thread after it's been flagged but it doesn't seem like they are going to do that.
