Best action would probably be go total defense (+6 AC), then stand up, then 5 foot step, which will give the dog 1 free attack vs AC 17, but it would leave you standing with AC 21.

Noral's Pregen wrote:
The rogue continues to search the tunnel and hopes to find no traps!

Very strange, there are clearly spots where a capable trapmaker would have created a trap, but no traps to be found!

Varanog inspects the scaffold, but detects nothing special as he climbs to the top.

Fazgyn moves through the leftmost tunnel which climbs up to reach the same area the scaffold leads to.

Noral's Pregen wrote:

The rogue decides to check out the tunnel to the right.

Sorry, don’t know why I thought that the tunnels are dead ends.

I didn't mean the sewer tunnels, I meant the cave tunnels. I marked them with green 'roman numerals'

I currently don't see anyone exploring in a new direction. There are 3 options at the moment (see map) 1 = Tunnel, 2 = scaffold, 3 = tunnel.

The tunnels are narrow, so a medium sized creature would need to squeeze, but a kobold can just walk without penalty.

Noral's Pregen wrote:
There is also a box in the back with the main group.

I think you might mistake the stairs for a box?

After that they’ll also search the whole area for anything left behind.

Noral's Pregen wrote:
Take 20.

Searching this whole area would take quite some time, and taking 20 20 times as long and the things you are looking for (intruders) would probably not require much searching at all, so you really shouldn't bother (time might be a factor).

Fazgyn and Varanog discover a sturdy wooden scaffold topped with a platform allows access to the edge of a cliff twenty feet above. A ladder ascends the side of the scaffold from the bottom of the cavern.

They notice that this is a recenty constructed and clearly not of kobold design.

Hats holds out one of his tentacles and there are about half a dozen "treats" and offers one to each of you.

"Brownies!"

Hats smiles as he puts something into his mouth.

"Hmmm, this one has chunky bits, probably corn!"

"I found something!" Hats proclaims

The sewer line casts down a sludge-like torrent of water and other matter into a growing lake of grime.

"Ah! They have a swimming pool!" Hats says as he jumps into the 'water'.

The sewer path ends in a section of scorched stonework. The sewer here has collapsed into a vast cavern, and the sewer water tumbles in a filthy waterfall to a makeshift lake twenty feet below. A wooden ladder on western end of the collapsed tunnel leads down to the cavern floor.

The party decides to give Engashez' Hat of Disguise to Hats.

Hats is overjoyed with his new hat! He carefully puts the lady lace attire on a hatstand and places the Hat of Disguise on his tentacle where it changes into a Helmet.

"Hats is happy with his new friend Sir Ironbeard! We will lead you to the part of the sewers where we found the weird old man!"

Five-foot-wide sidewalks run alongside a five-foot wide sluice of murky sewer water. The path reaches a T-junction, with paths leading east, north, and west. The eastern and western tunnels go on for an indeterminate length, while the northern tunnel abruptly ends in a drop. The sound of rushing water intensifies to the north.

See bottom side of the map!

Engashez and Fazgyn can deduct that the portal must be in the nearby section of sewer once connected to an unfinished section of underground tunnels.

Hats joins the conversation
"If you give me the nice hat I will join you!" he says to Varanog.

For the price of a (in this scenario not very useful) magic item you get a combat monster

They’re from very far away, and they have a grudge against the Society because we’ve stopped some of their previous schemes. Most importantly, they’re a ruthless band of villains, and if they’re building a beachhead in the sewers, they’ll be sure to clear out any potential threats—your tribe included!”

Drangle Dreng pauses a moment.

“From the few minutes I had to inspect the portal, it’s clear to me that it can only be activated from the other side, wherever the other side may be. If the Onyx Alliance successfully activates the portal, someone will need to go through and find a way to close it.”

The venture captain looks at all of you.

“From what I overheard, it is set to activate shortly after additional reinforcements arrive from the surface.”

“I’m a member of the Pathfinder Society, you see. A Venture-Captain, in fact, one who helped forge our alliance! I’d been following a group of our suspected enemies above ground, and they descended into the sewers nearby. In a section of nearby tunnels, I found our enemies hard at work, constructing some sort of magical portal in a ruined sewer line. In my folly, I alerted those I was following and was waylaid. I managed to drive them off, before your friend —the one with the headwear fascination— found me and dragged me here. That doesn’t matter though. All in the past, I’d say.”

“I need to warn the Society! But, I don’t think there’s enough time before this portal opens. You fine soldiers of the Sewer Dragons should do… only you can stop it!”
