It's unclear what you gain from taking a 1 level dip into a new class. Multiclassing defines you get class abilities and class features of the new class, along with skill points, stamina and hit points, saves, and BAB. Unfortunately, class abilities are not a defined thing in Starfinder (ie no glossary term or appearing in the class section of he core rulebook)
This may have been an over site when the section was written, but when taking the new class level do you gain the proficiencies and class skills of the new class? The later maybe simpliy answered by the definition of class skills, but proficiencies are definitely in question as written.
