Female Elf Level 1 Oracle
![]() Rewards for good RPing can span from Hero Points or some equivalent there of, special consideration for requests, magical items, feats, gold, resurrections, to anything else the GM can come up with. Oh. Traits are another option. Less powerful than feats. Less likely to be broken, since trait bonuses don't stack. ![]()

![]() "the PCs should be Xth level when they come here" This is generally how I prefer to do it when DMing. You get less of players asking six times for a specific XP number, and it keeps everyone even. However, on the other hand, if you do go by individual experience grants, you can better reward players for good RPing. ![]()

![]() I agree that I don't think posting in initiative order is necessarily the best way to go about things. It would be faster if players were allowed to post tactics the moment they were able to- Especially with a larger group. That said, I DO want to keep initiative for the purpose of "Who action goes first", given my +6 bonus and two rolls! But until the last persons post, we'll be able to edit and alter our posts if we need to. Parties don't necessarily work in perfect sync, especially early on. ![]()
![]() Assuming this has not closed, I present you all with another Divine Caster. I have no high hopes, but I enjoy offering a product of mine to the masses. In case someone finds fault with my ability scores, this character is Middle-Aged, which grants +1 to all mental scores and a penalty of -1 to all physical scores. I did this not for the sake of power gaming, but merely because I've never played a middle-aged character before. If this is an issue, then there is no need to consider my character. Spoiler:
-Who are you: I call myself Forlorna, but most have taken to naming me Forlorna the Storyseeker. My blood name I no longer have claim to. At best, I am a retriever of forgotten knowledge, one who tells the untold tales, and revives the past so it may live again. At worst, I am a pillager of secrets, a reminder of buried pains, who refuses to accept that there are somethings better not known.
-What inspired/forced/motivated you to take on the life of an adventurer?: My avarice for knowledge, my need to open closed doors, and the sins I made doing so. I paid great prices for what I know today, but I continue to crave even more. -What is your biggest weakness?: Unfaltering curiosity -What is your biggest strength?: My ability to look past the mundane and ordinary, and perceive the unique and fascinating. -What is the most enjoyable thing you remember doing?: As a child, I found the world a wonderful place. But it wasn't until I learned to read, and opened one of my father's books in his studies that I found that not only the living spoke. Dead authors, ancient philosophers, great leaders- Through records and monuments and powerful acts throughout history, we could remember and learn from the past. From then on, I decided my future would aso hold the past in close consideration. -What is the most significant thing you remember doing?: I sold part of myself for knowledge from a Devil. There is no mild way of putting it. I yearned for more, know, required more. There are so many mysteries within this world, so much forgotten and unexplained. So I gave up part of myself, part of my future, so as to better understand the past. But what I didn't know was that the price included my clan as well. But my own story is not worth telling now, no. I do not regret my choice, only that others suffered for my sins. -What do you fear?: I fear being forgotten. I fear being like a tome whose pages have long since been erased. I fear no one remembering me, when I have died. I fear my grave being unattended, my stories untold, and my work without a future. -How do you want to be remembered?: I want to be remembered at all. The details are less important. But I suppose I'd want to be remembered as I am, rather than what I am not. -What is the line that you won't cross?: I am uncertain, for the gravest transgression I could make has already become a part of history. -What do you see as future goals?: I want to know all. A silly, foolish, and arrogant dream, but I do not deny my own heart. In the present, of course, I wish to live, I wish to learn, and I wish to experience the world, and claim its secrets. As for the future, what is inevitable will be inevitable. -What path do you want your character to take: My characters are almost always organic. While they may have short-term missions or paths, their long term is always open, for they are people. Their companions, their friends, their enemies- All may have a chance to influence Forlorna and her beliefs. But ultimately, at the core of Folorna is her quest for knowledge. What she will sacrifice, and how far she'll go to obtain it will be pivotal points in her developments. How she'll decide will be critical to whom she is. Can she resist the temptation for knowledge? Will she go too far into the darkness, and be unable to save herself? Will she ever die satisfied? Could she ever intentionally sacrifice other for the sake of learning the past, present, and future? These are what will drive her quest. -Why are you at the swallowtail festival?: Varisia is one of the lands with the greatest amount of secrets. An ancient forgotten empire, powerful magicks, home to people with centuries of history. It is only natural that she be drawn to this land, and with Sandpoint being one of the largest settlements within the country, Forlorna's presence is not unusual. That said, her arrival a few days before the festival will not have been planned, but instead coincidence, something she takes in her stride. The chance to experience the local ceremonies and earn coin telling some stories are merely bonuses for the middle-aged woman, who has yet to realize the path destiny will be placing her upon. Quick OOC Notes: Her blackened hands curse will be associated with the Devil whom she made a contract with, which in turn granted her access to the time mystery. The wrecker curse, however, will be associated with her exile from Kyonin, a karmic curse formed from her unintentional ruining of her clan. The breaking of items will represent her hands causing held objects to wither and waste, time accelerating for the object until it is marred from wear and tear. This is all flavor, of course, but that's how I'll be playing it. In addition, I've intentional left some details unexplained, so as to be able to go deeper into it if accepted in the RP. ![]()
![]() I'm still working out some specifics and bio stuff, but general idea is that she's a wandering historian and story teller, always seeking to discover the past and find the wrinkles in history. To her, Time the ultimate driving force, and to know the past allows those in the present to determine the future. She's playful and spry for her age, and I'd like her show both wisdom and mischief in her personality. I'd like to think the flavor of her curse represents decay, how time breaks things down. The wrecker aspect showing how the object will be one day when she holds it. Blackened just seemed like the curse that best coupled with it. I chose Dual Curse because I felt its two unique revelations (Rerolling) fit well with the notion of manipulating time. She'd act as a face as well as controller and enchancer for the party, manipulating the battle and altering fate and time to the parties benefit. And of course, being a heal bot when needed. Although I ask that the party pool in for a Wand of cure light wounds so she wouldn't have to be nothing BUT healing. I don't mind support, but healing isn't very proactive. Still working on traits and what-not. |
