Based on some other decisions, I find myself short of enough time to commit to my online games, therefore i am withdrawing from a few to concentrate on those I am running or have long term commitments to.

Unfortunately, that means I will be withdrawing Finngarth from the game. Good luck, hope it all works out for you and the jurors in the end.

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Finngarth stares in horror at the insect-headed monstrosity on the belltower, his mind racing through his training in the Bank of Abadar, wondering if he was ever described such a foul beast.

Know Religion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Maybe enough to know what it is, but unlikely to learn much about it.

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Any Knowledge to figure out what this creature is and/or anything about it?

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Finngarth is enraged to hear the woman's tale of deceit. "The entirety of civilization is built on the rule of law. The requirement of serving as a juror is holy, and you have profaned it with your greed! Abadar is horrified at your disregard for the pillar of justice. You should be ashamed, and have likely doomed all these men to die!" He falls to his knees praying to the god of justice for mercy on Rekkert and any others that were tricked into behaving so foolishly. He also prays for damnation on the vile woman.

"I have half a mind to offer you up to the vengeful spirits that haunt this place to save the rest of us! Your action deserve no less!"

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Finngarth sighs. People are dying all over the place, and there is evidence about the fire opals, but the woman insists on making this more difficult than it needs to be. He asks as nicely as he can.

"Milady, sure there is more to the story. Please tell us what we need to know, so we can save you from the fate that has taken your fellow jurors, and will surely come for you in the end as well."

However, his exasperation must show on his face or in his tone, because the effect is likely not what he desires.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Finngarth is less shy and more direct than Volta. "Where did you get those fire-opals fair lady? They are quite fetching and must have cost you a pretty penny. As a purveyor of fine gems, I am most interested."

His words don't accuse her, but his tone and manner most certainly do. Somehow this woman tricked poor Halgrak out of his gems.

Leaving in the AM to take my oldest kiddo to college for Freshman year. Will be gone till Thurs PM, and will likely be too busy (or emotionally wrecked) to post.

Feel free to bot Finngarth until I return.

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Finngarth admires the fire opals with hungry look. He has always been attracted to pretty stones. Being the god of commerce's follower, he examines the debt reciepts tha beark Halgrak's signature, looking to see what and who the late half-orc owed money for and to.

If no one else pockets the opals, Finngarth does, but he does it openly, not on the sly.

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Seeing Kanna's state is still more wounded than he' like, Finngarth shares more of Abadar's glory and tries to close the rest of her wounds.

Finngarth relates what he knows about the creature. "It is a coffer corpse. Don't let it grab you, as it will choke you and you won't be able to speak or cast spells. It will play dead if hurt badly, so if it falls, let's finish if for sure."

"The undead are anathema to civiliation, so says Abadar, so say I!" shouts the dwarf advancing on the dead corpse and hammering at it with his melee weapon.

Finngarth makes a show of checking everyone's cheek for an old injury.

Still holding out the magic pebbles to Kanna, and the last to anyone who will take it, as he makes a withdrawal action down the stairs, behind the rest of the allies.

Withdraw should avoid an AoO's. There are two pebbles left, remember they are magic and do way more damage against undead, even if it is halved against a shadow.

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Finngarth hands a magically enhanced stone to Kanna, and holds his hand out to any who are brave enough to take one. He then calls forth the power of Abadar, who sees undead as restrictive to trade and the growth of economy. "Back tot he grave with you foul shade," he calls as positive energy fills the room.

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Wow, I'd think that with channels and 3x 2d6+2 damage, we could've put a dent in it. Now I just wasted the spell that gives everyone the ability to hit it once.

Who is up in initiative?

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Finngarth spends the round casting magic stone on three pebbles he carries at all times. He then holds his hands out to anyone who wants to take one and toss them at the shadow. He steps back down the circular stair case a bit, leaving space for any who want to grab a stone and throw it at the shadow.

Each stone is treated as magical and gives a +1 bonus to attacks. 20' range increment if thrown, 50' if slung. The dmg is 1d6+1 but it does double-dmg vs undead so the dmg if hit is 2d6+2

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

Does anyone have magical or ghost-touch weapons?

I can cast magic stone and get 3 pebbles that are treated like magic weapons for 1d6+1 dmg. I can also channel a few more times today. We should be able to take this thing down if anyone else has anything that would be effective.

Cleric (Abadar) 1 | AC 18 T 11 FF 17 | HP 10/10 | F +4 R +1 W +6; (+2 vs Poison or Spells) | Init +1 | Perc +4

"It is a shadow. An undead ghost that is half solid and half shade. Normal weapons cannot harm it, but magical ones can, in small amounts. Positive energy and force are fully effective, as are weapons that have a ghost-touch quality, although those are quite rare."

Not sure where Finngarth would be in all this exploration. I'll assume he can just make it up the stairs with both actions.

Hearing the cries and alarm from up above, Finngarth trudges up the stairs, shouldering past the others and sees the dancing specter, holding up his holy symbol for protection. "Master of Scales protect us from this unquiet spirit!" he cries in alarm, trying to recall exactly what type of thing this could be.

Finngarth responds, "Such malevolence is beyond my ken. I have heard that haunts can be satisfied if a wrong is set right or they become freed to move on from the place they inhabit, but we don't seem any closer to solving the case her, or putting the death of perhaps an innocent man right."

Finngarth lets out an exasperated sigh. "So, we've been asking if there was any funny business about this jury the whole time, and you all denied it, repeatedly...But now it comes to find out one juror, at least, was coerced. Were the rest of you? I mean by the Holy Scales of Abadar! Lying about it now won't get any of us out of here. Admit what you've done and perhaps these vengeful spirits will release us!"

Finn is exasperated but is making a heartfelt attempt to get others to cop to similar stories.

GM Trawets:

Ianfir:
"Do you think, by chance, that the jury was charmed or compelled into their verdict? I wonder. It seems they believe they acted fairly, so perhaps they don't recall what exactly happened. I've also seen the lady there's hold on Rekert, and perhaps on Groff. Could she be the one pulling the strings?" He waits to see if the gruff druid thinks his idea has any merit.

Finngarth strokes his beard thoughtfully. "There is something here that just doesn't add up. I suggest we separate these folks who were actively part of the trial of Mord. We should interview each of them and see what they know. From that, without distractions, we might be able to put the pieces together of what happened, and why are back here with the unquiet dead."

If they all agree, he makes arrangements to move each of the former jurors to a separate corner of the room. Then starting with Halgrak the half-orc, he brings any of the others along to put pressure, friendly or otherwise, on them until stories come out.

Looking Halgrak directly in the eye, Finngarth says, "By the Holy Scales, tell us the truth of what happened. Without hearing the unvarnished facts, we may be stuck here forever. Help us help you, get out of here."
