Ooh! What does he look like 'fully engaged'?? I can't recall a description of that

Fei stands, his motions sudden, smooth and almost mechanical.

His hands clench into fists, and the emerald light from the nanosuit pulses slightly, as if in time to a heartbeat.

After an awkward moment of this, the visor begins to recede...

The tremors stop as the glow's intensity levels off. The figure's head bows, arms hanging with the fingers scant inches from the floor.

There is a loud thump on the roof and then James drops in from a trapdoor on the roof.

"You could have gone in. It's not locked," he said opening the door to the office and gesturing Fei to go in. "Have a seat if you want," he added nodding to the comfortable leather couch that took up half the office. The rest was filled with piles of paperwork that had completely overwhelmed the desk they were set on.

He steps inside the rather chaotic space, navigating around the stacks of paperwork to sit on the proffered couch. As he does so, the nanosuit's helm retracts...

"Meet me at my office. Inside the warehouse, upper floor, first door on the right," James said over the radio and changed his trajectory, flying towards the warehouse instead of the landing field.

Fei proceeds to the main building's top floor, coming to a stop at the indicated door unless stopped. He waits, utterly still, for James' arrival.

Fei appears in Kuros at the port, but nowhere near where the newly-arrived ship or its passengers are located. He then sends a transmission to James.

"I was instructed to meet with you. Where may we speak that will be away from the refugees?"

James, like his mother, notices that Fei's voice seems almost too calm, given the day's terrible events.

"Yes, it's true. We don't know who, but it doesn't matter right now. Someone probably got the idea from what happened to Keme. Vai has already agreed to a resurrection, but we were waiting until after the rift was closed, just to be safe. I have no idea now if she will still be Light's champion when she comes back. After everything that's happened, I hope not. She deserves better," she said, with just a trace of bitterness. She looks incredibly tired as she speaks, a change that especially stands out from the usually energetic to the point of hyperactive attitude that he usually sees from her.

"....Yes, she does," he replies quietly. "We will have the truth of that matter once...she has returned."

He takes a step back from her.

"I was instructed to speak with your son James about my other findings. I will go to him now, so you may return your focus to closing the breach safely."

He turns to face Melody, fully suited up by now.

"I...am sorry I cannot help any more than I have done here," he says to her, nodding slightly at the canister. "I hope it will do...some good."

He then disappears from the room.

"Well, this saves me some work," she said, trying to process that Fei had already taken care of transport. For the second time in her life she was faced with the body of an alternate dimension version of one of her children. It should have been easier. She was in a container. There was only one of her. But the memory of a room full of corpses of James made sure that there was nothing easy about this. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Melody, suit up," she said a little more sharply than she intended. "It's time."

"Fei...." she made sure she had his attention before continuing. "When this hits you....when you start feeling again....Remember that you're not alone. We're here for you. And we do understand what you're going through. I've been here before. DIfferent child, same pain. Just remember that we are here to help you."

The head tilts down briefly to the container.

"This Vai was not alone - Hope's new Champion was with her. She did not see me, and fled before Vai confronted me. She is a red dragon, and apparently the granddaughter of the Emperor, according to the information I took from their facility."

He pauses, the emerald glow from his suit brightening again before he continues.

"I overheard a conversation they were having. They claimed that your daughter was killed by another Champion here. Is...this true?"

Aananda recognizes the aftereffects of trauma when she sees it. She wished she didn't. But that blank look of complete dissociation was so familiar and seeing it again was like a kick to the gut.

"No. Bring the remains here. I can shrink them down. Melody can send them through. You cannot safely approach the breach. She can. And she's already going there in order to shut down the breach. We are just finishing her protective suit. She'll be ready to go in a matter of minutes," she said, her voice calm and firm. There would be time for emotions later. Now she needed to keep it together, keep working. Save the world first. Cry later.

In a smooth, almost too-mechanical motion, Fei steps up to Aananda (and out of reach of Arthur) as he pulls the cylinder from his back. The helmeted figure holds it out for her to take.

"My neural lace tells me that her remains are in a superfluidic state - this container will need to either accompany the remains to avoid their loss, or discharge them directly into the breach to avoid any further cross-contamination."

"The other Vai has been...eliminated. I require the location of the temporal breach so the...remains...can be returned to where they belong and slow the breach's spread."

The emerald glow pulses more brightly as he speaks, then dims back down.

Besides the unusual deadpan tone, Aananda notes that Fei did not address her with the title he always uses with her. Since she took him on a a student he has never addressed her otherwise.

Vai Emkar wrote:

As Fei draws off the magical energy of the spells cast by Vai, he pulls a little more than he probably counted on, as she practically radiated with magical enhancements and effects.

Fei's gonna have excess energy to dispense with after this is over.

Fort Save: 1d20+26

Fei's hand clasps tightly around his foe's throat, and stops all motion in her body down to an atomic level. This has the additional effect of momentarily creating a hyper-condensed state of matter within his foe's body as atoms begin to display quantum properties on a macro level. The result is a rather gruesome disfigurement of the once-living creature, twisted completely beyond recognition.

She's definitely dead, and what remained of her body is an unholy ruin of organic matter.

Analysis: Target neutralized, but presence of remains is still a threat. Due to current state of remains, special containment measures required.

Requisite Action: Collect remains and return to universe of origin.

Related Analysis: Energy reserves at unsafe levels - dissipation required immediately.

Solution: Use excess energy (and materials present) to fabricate nanite containment vessel for target remains.

Observation: Alternate-universe Vai is a threat to this reality by merely being here and alive;

Deduction: If allowed to live, this Vai will create further instability to this reality, and threaten multiple lives (which is against directives);

Conclusion: Based on directives, the only successful course of action is to terminate this Vai's life and return her to her universe of origin.
