Background:
Spoiler:
The Last War was already seventy five years long when Feanor was inducted into the ranks of the Deathguard. Undergoing alchemical and spiritual treatment, Feanor's flesh became sallow and pinched, giving him a death-like appearance. Thereafter, he and several others were tasked by the High Warden Cial Jhaelian (p. 20, PGTE) to go to Khorvaire and be the eyes and ears of the Undying Court and the Deathguard. They were to keep close watch of Karrnathi and its undead armies. Moreover, they were to destroy any Blood of Vol cells that they may find.
The information that Feanor and the others gathered were relayed to High Priest Mayne Jhaelian (p. 79, Sharn) in Sharn. Sometimes, Feanor was tasked to relay some of his observations to representatives of nations who opposed these undead armies of Karrnath, like Cyre and the Valenar, for which he earned a lot of money.
Feanor rarely participated in actual combat, as he was forbidden to place himself in danger. But he has on several occassions chosen to ignore this proscription. Feanor joined the Valenar on their raid and eventual destruction of Fort Zombie. While on leave in Sharn in 991, he helped repulse the attempted sea-borne invasion of Sharn by the Karrns and the Lhazaars (p. 40, TFoW).
Before the signing of the Treaty of Thronehold, Feanor joined the Valenar once again on a raid on a Karrnathi outpost. There, Feanor came face-to-face with an undead horror known as a dread marshal (p. 150-151, TFoW). Positive versus negative, it took all Feanor had but eventually he prevailed. Stiking the undead creature's head with a two-handed blow of his ancestral scimitar, Feanor placed the head on a spike as a reminder to the Karrnathi that they should not dabble in forces they do not understand. Thereafter, the prisoners of that outpost were released but seeing Feanor's skin they thought him to be one of their jailers and they attacked him. The Valenar seeing the prisoners' aggression as a slight on their honor promptly set to slaughtering the people they had come to save. Disgusted with the ignorance of humans, Feanor retired to Sharn at the end of the War.
Presently, Feanor is staying in a well-appointed apartment in the Upper Northedge district of Sharn. His superior and mentor, Mayne Jhaelian, introduced Feanor to the other members of the party.
