Monkeygod wrote: There's no reviews about this yet, but I'm curious what people think about the book so far! Our group is playing it and having an absolute blast so far. James did not mess around with the challenges here. No spoilers but we just got a very disturbing bit of news after a particularly difficult fight. The politics may end up ruining us more than any physical danger though! ![]()
We just fought this monstrosity too. One thing I did notice looking in the book-specifically the Advancement Track on page 3:
Spoiler:
"The heroes advance to 5th level after speaking to Otari's ghost." If, like us, you encountered everything else already, everyone should have leveled up before meeting out mutual friend. ![]()

creature immunities spoiler: The Voidglutton from the end of Ruins of Gauntlight is immune to all spells except fairie fire, glitterdust, magic missile, maze, and spells with the light trait. What about the paladin's hurtling stone? Would that count as a spell to which the voidglutton would be immune, or would it count as a physical attack to which it would not? ![]()

I love this idea. The only disadvantage would be if someone has already played the scenario that quest sets up, because we frequently play things out of order, then they would have to use a GM star to replay it with the extra benefit. Not out of the question, just a possible disadvantage. ![]()

Yes! If I have favorite scenarios with which I am more comfortable and therefore able to run better, making the RP experience better for players, then I am also more likely to enhance it by purchasing miniatures and flip mats which fit those scenarios. I hate getting blind boxes with monsters I will probably never use, but I would buy the **** out of some minis for Goblin Guild, Frostfur Goblins, etc. if I knew I could use them more than once. ![]()
Someone mentioned Asprin's Myth series. That disappointed me mostly because he hit us with a massive cliffhanger and then unfortunately passed away (which is the thought currently terrifying every GRR Martin fan). I was not too thrilled with the last book, though. It was obviously very personal for Asprin, who had Skeeve deal with many of the same issues he himself faced, but the quality of the writing and the humor were not up to the same level of previous books. The other series that disappointed me only because it was left unfinished was David Gerrold's War Against the Chtorr series. So wrong to tease several more volumes and then never write them! |
