I've just been asked to run a short campaign over the summer and would really like some suggestions for a meta plot. I'm trying to come up with some stuff on the fly and spontaneous creativity is definitely not my strong suite.

So far, what I think I'm going to do is set the game in LOTR-Middle Earth within 50 years of the War Or Wrath (the beginning of the 2nd Age). The land is in turmoil... half of Beleriand has sunk into the sea, the inland sea of Helcar has been mostly drained and the lands from the north east down through Mordor have recently arisen from the drained sea. The Ainur are no longer active in Middle Earth, a large portion of the Elves have left, the Edain have left to establish Numenor, and the Dwarves are consolidating in Moria.

It seems like a fun place for players to adventure... but, now I'm struggling with the important parts... the actual adventure/plot... :(

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Are there plans to include a true digital component (i.e. DnD Beyond) to PF 2.0?

Thanks for the information and the link.

From a personal stand point, I have never liked the flavor of the Improved Familiar feat giving you a different/more powerful familiar. I wish there were a feat tree (Improved/Greater/Supreme etc.) that improved your existing familiar by adding templates and abilities.

*Note: I guess you can do that to a small degree with the Evolved Familiar feat.

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

When using the Improved Familiar feat to acquire a celestial/fiendish familiar, does the familiar still grant the character the bonus associated with it's animal type?

Wow! Thanks for all of the advice. I'll check out the suggested classes. It sounds like the Kensai magus is the closest to what I'm after if I RP the recommendations as technique instead of magical enhancements.

Another question: I've just picked up the Melee Tactics Toolbox and the Weapon Master's Handbook and haven't really had time to digest all of the options. Is there anything in either of these books that you think would help the build?

I need help in making, what I call, a true Kensai. Thematically, I'm interested in having him be similar to the original Oriental Adventures Kensai in that he relies on his weapon for everything... hitting frequently, inflicting huge amounts of damage, and high AC bonuses (I.e. he doesn't wear armor).

I'm open to just about any combination of multi-classing and archetypes. Also, while the katana fits best thematically, I'm open to other weapon suggestions. The only caveat is that there can't be any sort of caster class involved in the build.

Thanks, in advanced, for your advice.

I'm interested in making an NPC for a hombrew that I an running based on the character Dustfinger from the novel series/movie Inkheart. How would you go about it?

I'd like to join the chorus of those requesting a copy. I'd like to run some of my kids through it.

Well, I'm really late to the party... but I like the new format. I will probably start my first subscription because of it. I think I'd like to see something like the AP player guides as some additional content along with the adventure specific gazetteer.
