Hey Patcher, no problem. He absolutely did put more time into the conversation than I did. I was as surprised as I was pleased to be selected, and guessed that you were judging on something other than effort :) Good call on admitting a mistake and deciding to put it right. Gotta respect that. No worries, I'll enjoy Serpent's Skull and Evan will get a run out in some other game sometime. Wish I'd seen this before I polished Evan's stats and profile though (or done Avarthiel first)! Everyone, have a great game. ![]()
![]() Hell everyone! Thanks for choosing Evan, DM Patcher. I thought I might have been a little too laid back in the role-playing and blown the audition. Glad not. I'm happy with all your suggestions above. That's gonna be an awesome front line :) So I'm the only mainline healer, which will stifle my tactical / buff spell options for a while until we have adequate wands of CLW for everyone who can use one. Since my spontaneous casting summons badgers or whatever I actually have to prepare any healing I want. I still need to complete my animal companion, equipment, background and appearance. I'll get to that tomorrow. ![]()

Ha. Good spot! I guess that's why you're the DM and get paid the big bucks. Evan is definitely Good, and then I thought aha! anti-slavery - that's Chaotic. And so the whole sorry mistake was made. He'll be NG :) Evan has had a very privileged life so far - a good family, free to follow his passion for the wild and for travel, a kindly master in the druidic community. He wants every to have the best life they can - a true, if naive, idealist. You could think of him like one of those young trust-fund hippy environmentalists protesting against BP. All his life he's heard tales of the hellish life of halfling slaves in Chelliax. He can't imagine anything worse than facing a short miserable lifetime toiling in the stink of a great city for an uncaring master. It's the antithesis of everything he thinks is good in the world. The imposition of one creature's will over another rather than the freely given companionship and mutual respect that he shares with his Animal Companion, is something that Evan regards as 'true evil'. Hmm - bit of an essay there. Hope it gives you some insight into where this character is starting from and where he could go. I know that there's some more work and tidying up to do on the mechanics, but I'll wait until after you've made a selection. The first glass of wine, and the warmth of the room, go to Evan's head. He finds himself nodding along with all the strands of conversation, watching people come and go, without making any real effort to follow or contribute. They'll quieten down soon enough when the food arrives. Chance to have proper natter will come when we're on the road. ![]()
![]() "Right, right, hang on, don't worry, I'm here in time for the feast!" A lean, sandy haired halfling bursts through the ornately carved doors at the end of the hall, and continues talking as if all eyes are on him, and everyone had wanted to know when he would arrive. "Bessy and Hoss are settled in the stable so there'll be no more interruptions from that direction." He pauses to look round the crowded hall, and his eyes widen a little at the strange crowd. Then he smiles, "Well and well-met everyone! I'm Evan. Evan Freehame. So who might you lot be? Don't be shy." Questions and stuff: This is the character that 'Art' posted above. Answers to questions repeated below. I am based in NZ, can post every day, and can't imagine anything better than mixing Pathfinder with Civilization! Evan is an anti-slavery crusader who wants a strong kingdom in the south that respects freedom and keeps a balance with the natural world. His contribution will be through healing, summoning, and wilderness skills. Mechanically he will progress as full druid, with a focus on versatility and supporting his animal companion. From a story perspective the early stages will be relatively easy for him - he has no love of brigands or aberrant monsters, and will enjoy the wilderness thoroughly. Conflict with fae or other druids will prove a challenge, and ultimately I'm looking forward to addressing the conflict between respect for nature, and bringing civilisation to the wilderness.
