SPECIAL ABILITIES

Fused Eidolon

Fused Link: Starting at 1st level, the synthesist forms a close bond with his eidolon. Whenever the temporary hit points from his eidolon would be reduced to 0, the summoner can, as a free action, sacrifice any number of his own hit points. Each hit point sacrificed this way prevents 1 point of damage done to the eidolon (thus preventing the loss of the summoner’s temporary hit points), preventing the eidolon from being killed and sent back to its home plane.

Summon Monster VI: Starting at 1st level, a summoner can cast summon monster I as a spell-like ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier. Drawing upon this ability uses up the same power as the summoner uses to call his eidolon. As a result, he can only use this ability when his eidolon is not summoned. He can cast this spell as a standard action and the creatures remain for 1 minute per level (instead of 1 round per level). At 3rd level, and every 2 levels thereafter, the power of this ability increases by one spell level, allowing him to summon more powerful creatures (to a maximum of summon monster IX at 17th level). At 19th level, this ability can be used as gate or summon monster IX. If used as gate, the summoner must pay any required material components. A summoner cannot have more than one summon monster or gate spell active in this way at one time. If this ability is used again, any existing summon monster or gate immediately ends. These summon spells are considered to be part of his spell list for the purposes of spell trigger and spell completion items. In addition, he can expend uses of this ability to fufill the construction requirements of any magic item he creates, so long as he can use this ability to cast the required spell.

Greater Shielded Meld: At 12th level, whenever the synthesist is fused with his eidolon, he gains a +4 shield bonus to his Armor Class and a +4 circumstance bonus on his saving throws.

Maker's Jump: At 6th level, whenever the synthesist is fused with his eidolon, the synthesist
can cast dimension door as a spell-like ability using his caster level. This ability only
affects the fused synthesist and eidolon. The synthesist can use this ability once per day at
6th level, plus one additional time per day for every six levels beyond 6th.

Aspect: At 10th level, a summoner can divert up to 2 points from his eidolon’s evolution pool to add evolutions to himself. He cannot select any evolution that the eidolon could not possess, and he must be able to meet the requirements as well. He cannot select the ability increase evolution through this ability. Any points spent in this way are taken from the eidolon’s evolution pool (reducing the total number available to the eidolon). The summoner can change the evolutions he receives from these points any time he can change the eidolon’s evolutions.

Backstory: Enkidu's life and memory began as one of Cheliax's many slaves, servant to one of the lesser nobles. He was told by the family that his parents had abandoned him, a half-blood, and because of that he was worth less than dirt. Believing them, and being given constant back-breaking work, Enkidu entered the lowest part of his life- treated as less than nothing, a slave, and believing that was all he deserved. However, among the noble's other servants, a small family of halflings took pity on him. Quietly evading or pretending to misunderstand the nobles' instructions, the halflings protected Enkidu, gave him food and drink when the noble's whims dictated that he should starve, and told him stories of different lands, of different times. Partially in return, Enkidu stood up for the family when the other servants or street-urchins or thugs would pick on the family. And when the halfling family unearthed enough information to pay for rescue by the Bellflower Network, they took Enkidu with them.
The trip to safety, to Andoran, was grueling and the family and Enkidu often came within a gnat's wing of death, avoiding slavers and hellknights, robbers and wild animals. Near the end of the journey they happened upon a small abandoned barn where, inside, a man was being horribly tortured by men wearing Chelish colors. The halfling family, concerned for their children, hurried on. Enkidu grabbed a fence post and ran in, striking one of the men in the side. The man turned, laughed, and sliced at Enkidu with his blade, biting him deep in the side, sending Enkidu almost to the floor. As his companions continued torturing the screaming man, Enkidu's tormentor raised his blade. Begging for the strength to protect the stranger, Enkidu suddenly felt the raw aura of darkness and evil in his tormentor. Gripping his pole, he roared and drove it up under the man's chin, the faintest aura of white light surrounding it as it blasted into his brain. His friends turned, furious, and the tortured man suddenly went silent, grabbed a sword from the belt of one of his torturers and slew the rest before they could turn around.

Standing, the man scraped the blood and dirt of days of torture from his skin, lent against the table and asked if Enkidu was alright. The youth burst into tears, adrenaline vanishing from his system. Bending over, the man pressed his hand against Enkidu's side and healed his wounds with white light. After a few minutes of silence, the man revealed himself as a Paladin of Erastil. Giving Enkidu an small carving of Erastil's insignia, he thanked him and quietly left.

Eventually reaching safety in Andoran, Enkidu took the insignia and went to the nearest church of Erastil and begged to be taught to be a paladin. He was accepted, partially because of the insignia and partially because of his evident skills. Enkidu spent the next few years mastering the skills of battle and faith, serving with distinction in the various missions and battles the Paladins would be sent on. As time went by however, Thelion found himself believing less and less in Erastil- not out of any disrespect for his teachings, more out of a realization that all the good that came from Erastil, and the good that he was able to do, came from Andoran's promotion of freedom, and freedom of religion. Finally, after a great battle against a secret 'false flag' invasion of Andoran by Cheliax, Enkidu was brought before Codwin I to be thanked for his role. He was asked for any boon he might wish for. Falling to his knees, Enkidu asked to be allowed to swear fealty to Andoran, and to its people. Out of gratitude for the service of the young man, and partially out of a desire to cement his political power by recruiting such a strong and popular fellow, Codwin granted Enkidu his boon, and named him the First Sword of Andoran.

Since then, Enkidu has served in the military. He has retained his Paladin powers, even though he no longer directly serves Erastil or any other god. Enkidu wonders if it is because the intense faith and belief he has in the ideals of Andoran has caused the gods who favor it as well to continue granting him power. He has requested diverse postings at all levels- guarding, front-line infantry, leading missions- to build an understanding and empathy of and with Andoran's soldiers and defenders. He initially faced some prejudice; inevitably, soldiers do not embrace Paladins completely (Gods' whipping boys/Why do they get perks/Holier-than-thou attitudes) but on a mission where everything went to hell and Chelish infantryman nearly ran down Enkidu's entire squad, he managed to save everyone, distracting the Chelish with brilliant tactics while cajoling and encouraging his troops to move forwards and away, two of them wounded and over his shoulders. That deed- and a few others, such as refusing medals and taking responsibility for the failure but listing many of his soldiers for them, and for saving some of his men from loan sharks- have earned him the respect and admiration of many.

Personality: Enkidu has an immense amount of loyalty and dedication towards Andoran and the principles it espouses. He has a very strong sense of duty and honor, and refuses to kill unarmed men or soldiers. Like most soldiers however he has no issue with surprise attacks, deception of knocking men unconscious while unarmed or surprised. Having seen service with the paladins he retains many of the tenets of chivalry; respect to women, enemies and lords, defense of honor both his own and that of others, and a strong sense of modesty (IE no cussin' while he's in command and he's not going to look kindly on the dirty postcards making the rounds of the soldiers).

When the Angel appeared: As the angel appears and speaks her piece, Enkidu instinctively raises a hand to cut off part of his vision and most of her body from view as he eyes her face and expression measuringly, the fatigue of a long day's battle steadily but rapidly draining away. Wordlessly he stands and straps back on a blade all too recently taken off. Moving to the door of his tent, he speaks to the guard. "Kenan, I'm going to be gone for some time- keep the men up with their daily sword-drills and make sure that the guards switch posts regularly. If I do not return in three days, contact Commander Serva and request re-assignment for the unit." Slightly confused but trusting his leader, the young lieutenant nods. "Aye, Commander.... Commander, what should I tell Jenk? I know he was looking forward to-" Enkidu gives a small smile and replies "Tell him he can keep the bet money- I'll win it back off of him when I return and throw that javelin past his and straight into Egorian's gates." "Aye, sir!" Kenan grins. Moving back into his tent, Enkidu turns to the angel. "I will answer Iomedae's call, Miss Archon, on the condition that I be told if anything happens to my men in my absence, and that I be allowed to return immediately if I so wish. This is my condition, without it my blade remains at my side and not at hers." If she agrees, he takes her hand.

Description (Unfused): Enkidu is a tall and powerfully built young man with blonde hair worn in a military crop, blue eyes and a serious demeanor. He wears simple chain mail emblazoned with the hawk of Andoran atop a blue shirt and brown leather trousers. He wears thick black leather military boots. On his back are two swords, one almost as tall as he is and another suited for his grip. His voice is terse and used to command.
Description (Fused): With his new powers upon him, Enkidu is clad in gleaming golden full-plate armor, a blue tabard with a silver Andoran hawk atop it. Two circular bolts holding his shoulder-guards in place also bear the crest of Andoran. Behind him stream hawk wings, silver and ethereal with long ribbons flowing out behind him. His head is bare and unchanged.
