Race entry line

At 1st level, can remove the crossed-out specials to make 110 character spaces left for status effects.

At 2nd level, can abbreviate Giant Ancestry (GA) and Martial Flexibility (MF) and remove crossed-out specials to make 122 character spaces left for status effects.

At 3rd level, can abbreviate Brawler's Flurry (BF) and remove crossed out specials to make 122 spaces left for status effects.

At 4th level, can abrreviate Favored Terrain (FT) and remove crossed out specials to make 76 spaces left for status effects. By abbreviating Terrain Mastery (TM) and endure elements (EE), increases space left for status effects to 102 spaces.

At 5th level and 6th levels, will have 63 spaces for status effects, which can be increased to 93 spaces by abbreviated Brawler's Srike (BS) and Close Weapon Mastery (CWM).

At 7th level, the spaces for status effects will reduced by 3 spaces, to add "/+1" to Favored Turf bonuses.

*

Class/Levels entry line

17 spaces not used, which is enough to account for the 13 of the 14 (not stealth) single digits becoming double digits.

For players who do not already know the following:

Your profile posting header (when you post in gameplay and discussion tabs):

The Gender entry line is the first line(s) of your header.

The Race entry line continues along same line as what you inputted into the gender entry line (unless the gender entry line ended with [ /spoiler].

The Class/Levels entry line is the third and last entry line for your header, and continues to add along same line as the Race entry line (unless the Race entry line ended with [ /spoiler].

Any spoilers you add automatically makes the spoiler added as the next line in your header.

As far as I know, there is not a way to make a line break without using a spoiler tag.

Emmett has been updated and is ready for your perusal, DQ.

The 'pantheon' of deities he reveres are a deity (Kurgess), the Offering Plate pantheon (Abadar, Alseta, Cayden Cailean, Folgrit, Kazutal) and the Good Neighbors covenant (Cayden Cailean, Erastil, household spirits, Torag)

I added a bit of family history for how his ancestor, Xander, came to be a gladiator at the Oppara Arena two centuries ago.

I used the edicts and anathema of Kurgess, covenant and the pantheon he reveres, and prioritized the order of the edicts and anathema he abides by.

Edicts and Anatheman:

Emmett's priority order of edicts, in descending order:

1st: (Kurgess) claim victory or accept defeat with grace
2nd: (Good Neighbors) provide aid after disasters damage settlements
3rd: (The Offering Plate) contribute your unique talents to society
4th: (The Offering Plate) give to those in need
5th: (Good Neighbors) volunteer your time and resources for good causes
6th: (Kurgess) compete to your full potential
7th: (Kurgess) seek always to better yourself
8th: (Good Neighbors) participate in the betterment of your community
9th: (The Offering Plate) pass on skills and resources to others
10th: (Kurgess) encourage others to strive toward their own potential for greatness

Emmett's priority order of anathema, in descending order:

1st: (The Offering Plate) take resources from those who need them
2nd: (Kurgess) cheat at honorable contests
3rd: (Good Neighbors) dictate where and how people should live
4th: (Good Neighbors) allow a community space to fall into disrepair
5th: (The Offering Plate) act selfishly
6th: (The Offering Plate) keep knowledge or wealth to yourself
7th: (Kurgess) engage in reckless or needless destruction or bloodshed
8th: (Kurgess) dishonor those who have lost or failed (including defeated or slain enemies)

I updated his Hero Forge mini.

After he left the tavern his family has owned for two centuries, Emmett joined a Offering Train caravan heading west from Oppara. When the caravan reached Cassomir, Emmett decided to remain within Taldor instead of continuing to travel west with the Offering Train caravan. As luck would have it, there was a caravan master in Cassomir looking to hire some guards...

I am changing Emmett from a (brawler) fighter to a (turfer) brawler, which better fits his character concept.

When you post your interest here, please note the following:

1. Acknowledge you have read this entire damn post and agree to the posting expectations listed below, including that you agree to post, as a rule, at least once every 48 hours either in or out of character.

I have.

2. Remind me of your character’s name (if you’re not posting under the alias) and if you are making any changes to your application.

Emmett Xanderi

3. Describe what your character was doing in Silas Gribb’s caravan on the way from Cassomir to Belhaim and beyond (see setting notes below).

Emmett has been earning a living as a caravan guard for a while. After his first stint was over (for a caravan traveling from Oppara to Cassomir), Silas Gribb hired him as a caravan guard. As the owner of the first caravan was still in Cassomir, he could have put a good word in with Silas that Emmett was a dependable caravan guard.

4. Note any items you find triggering or disturbing that you do not want to be included in the game. I don’t need a lengthy explanation as to why; simply note what the thing is. For example, “No spiders please.” I by default try to avoid issues like abuse, rape, and violence toward children, and I generally avoid flirtation, affection, and romance unless discussed with and consented to by players beforehand.

No miscarriages during the campaign. Loss of children via miscarriage as part of character backstories I am okay with, but please not once the campaign starts.

No bugs entering in through the ears (i.e. Wrath of Khan), please.

No needles in the eye. One of the few scenes from movies that freaked me out when I first saw them was such a scene from the movie Eye in the Sky. It was from the perspective of the character getting the needle in the pupil, which added extra horror factor for me.

If any other such things come to mind that didn't as I typed this, I will make sure to let you know.

Submission Requirements, Party Build, & Character Builds:

I will probably remove the 1 rank he has in Perception (no class skill bonus for fighter) and put it into another skill that a) makes sense for his character background story; and/or is b) a skill that is only usable if trained in it, that makes sense he is already trained it before the campaign starts.

I also prefer using Archives of Nethys, and tend to include hyperlinks to the site in my character builds.

Thank you for giving us a heads up 'hardcover books' only.

What about the hardcover books that are not 'Advanced' or 'Ultimate' books, such as Horror Adventures, Inner Sea Gods, The Inner Sea World Guide, Occult Adventures and Pathfinder Unchained? Are the character options from those hardcover rules books also allowed?

Setting Notes:

Religion: Growing up in a family that owns and runs a tavern in Oppara, with family tradition dating back to their gladiator ancestor winning his freedom while fighting in the Oppara Arena and buying the bar with the coin he made from the same fight; I will peruse Inner Sea Gods to see which deities make up his primary 'personal pantheon' - off the top of my head the following deities will be part of his 'personal pantheon': Abadar (making an honest living), Cayden and Kurgess (fair competition). I will also take a look at pantheons and divine covenants on AoN, with the Good Neighbors covenant being one that will be part of his 'personal pantheon'.

Expectations for Players:

Show up

I usually check my PBP games every day (and usually multiple times during the day), though some of my games there are days that I do not post in gameplay (as I am waiting for others to post).

I feel weary to post such things in some of my games (so there are not 'double-ups' of my posts simply stating 'I'm still here' (or something to that effect). I will definitely post in discussion if I am waiting for an appropriate time to next post in gameplay. btw, is there a general consensus on the boards which is the default preferred approach to games? Is it yours (which I would prefer, as it lets the GM know I am still interested in their game), or do a lot of players on the boards get 'peeved' at players adding such 'extra posts' in the discussion tab?

The games that are showing in my active games on my profile:

GM_Drake's Untitled Campaign - not active - was recruitment for using Core PFS iconics for Book 1 of Strange Aeons, that was not 100% successful. At some point down the line, I will try recruiting for this one again, but the earliest would probably not be until Halloween is approaching.

Aundairian Tales - active, though daily posting is currently in a waning phase. Time it takes for my daily posts in this PBP is neglible.

Dwarves Ho!!! - active, though currently in the process of a restart for the campaign as we have changed editions we are using for the campaign. The time it takes for my daily posts in this PBP is neglible.

Heroes of Today - active, recently lost two players. The time it takes for my daily posts in this PBP is trivial to moderate.

The lands of MelVaun (An isekai themed adventure) - not an active player in this PBP.

Lia's Adventures in Golarion - active. The time it takes for my daily post in this PBP is between trivial to moderate.

Overlord 2, the Other Guild - not an active player in this PBP. At some point will probably become an active player in the PBP. Time it will take for my daily posts in this PBP will proably be trivial to moderate.

Wrath of the Righteous, Knights of the Black Blades! - active. The time it takes for my daily posts in this PBP is moderate.

Zion High - active. The time it takes for my daily posts in this PBP is trivial to moderate.

Two of the campaigns listed as previous campaigns became became inactive because the GM for them has not posted since August/September. Should the GM come back to continue the games, I plan to continue playing in The Heroes of Sandpoint.

I have been posting consistently nearly daily on the boards since the first PBP I played in, which was June of last year. I think the longest I went without posting was for less than a week during the week one of my brothers died (not including the two weeks in November that were the planned 1 week shutdown of the website and the actual 1 week shutdown of the website).

Communicate (respectfully)

Having a NPC that is intentionally supposed to be difficult to understand is fine, but that should hopefully not apply to GMs and players. I know I can tend to post 'lengthy' posts myself. I will try to remember to use spoilers so I am not creating 'walls of text' with my posts. There are different reasons for different kind of long posts, with one kind including multiple actions my character might take on my turn depending on what has happened since my last turn, or, for example, if I will not be readily availble to check and post throughout a day when we have an active combat going on, and there might be a flurry of posts before I have time to check and post next, so that I do not hold up the game by everyone waiting for my next post.

Remember where you are and that you are playing with relative strangers.

I agree.

Respect player and character agency (e.g., no godmoding)

I agree.

about you as a GM:

Sounds good.

House rules and How You Run PBPs:

Taking 10 and 20 I will try not to forget that you are not using the standard rules set for how long taking 10 and 20 takes.

For example, the lockpicking characters in the party, it will take them 10 minutes to take 10 on their disable device to pick a lock (probably without breaking a lockpick) and would take them an hour to take 20 on their disable device check to pick a lock (and breaking a few lock picks in the process - one for each result from 1 to 20 on the d20 that would result in failing by enough that causes the active lockpick to break that is a PF2E result for critical failing).

Is the above example correct?

The following is just a copy and paste of how you want us to format our character's profile headers (for me to quickly access it when I format Emmett's profile header).

a. In the “race” field of your profile, indicate HP nn/nn | AC nn T nn FF nn | CMD nn CMB nn | Init + nn, Per +nn | Fort +nn Ref +nn Will + nn (conditionals) | Immune xxx Resist xxx [Any other important combat traits here]
b. In the “class” field of your character write “| Hero Points NN | Status” and then add any buffs, debuffs, ongoing effects, etc.
c. Keep this up to date with HP count, effects, etc.

I am still interested. :)

I have never played nor ran this adventure.

I have to start getting ready to head out. I will read the full info dump later tonight (or tomorrow if I am too tired to do so tonight).

I am still interested.

@DeathQuaker: Thanks for offering to potentially run the adventure (or another one) for some of the unchosen ones.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@all the unchosen:

Who would like to work into their backgrounds having frequented The Buxom Ogress (located in Oppara) and already have a friendship with Emmett before the life-changing (for Emmett) brawl with his siblings occurred, and decided to join Emmett when he left the city for adventure?

@the other unchosen martial characters: Do any of you want to have been patrons of the tavern and friends of Emmett's, and/or were one of Emmett's fellow bouncers (either hired specifically for that job or simply helping out) to partake in the 'betting pool' regarding which bouncer knocks out the unruly patron Emmett was 'showing the door' to?

For ones that are interested in being more effective with Emmett at 'taking out the trash', and are willing to use a feat slot to make it so, see the Coordinated Manuvers feat.

@all the unchosen:

Emmett's starting (pre-adventuring) locale is set (family tavern with history that is linked specifically to Oppara Arena). During his travels he could have come across another character' s initial watering hole.

Maybe two or three of our characters hail from Oppara and others hail from somewhere else (or two or more other starting points) and destiny/chance made our (all the characters') paths cross and we did a minor adventure - something more grand than killing rats in a basement but nothing so grand as slaying a dragon.

Emmett Xanderi mini The chest on the mini is not to scale. The mini has a small chest. Emmett's chest is a large chest.

The Buxom Ogress tavern:

On the wall behind the serving bar at the The Buxom Ogress. is a rudis (a wooden sword that indicates a gladiator slave has won their freedom). Below the rudis, is a plaque with the words, Xander won more than his freedom the week he slew the reigning champion, the vicious lycanthropic ogre, Gutspiller. Gutspiller's mate found Xander in this very tavern the following day, demanding blood for blood. When Xander had bested the ogress and was about to deliver the death blow, he said with a lustful glint in his eyes, "Blood for blood can be done another way.". The ogress replied, "Make it blood and brew and consider yourself mine." Xander smiled and offered the barkeep half the betting gold purse he won the day before for the deed to the bar. After the bartender agreed to sell the bar, Xander boomed aloud and grabbed a mug of ale from a nearby table and raised it, "The name of the bar is now The Buxom Ogress and, looking at the ogress beneath him, "The brew is yours but our blood will bear my name." Underneath the plaque is the metal klar shield Xander wielded in the arena.

The above is public knowledge, what is not so common knowledge, is there is no silver in the blade of the klar shield Xander fought with. For Xander's shield was for show (and it was widely known to be forged from cold iron) and made it easier for Xander to inflict more damage on the ogre champion with his cestus, who's metal was silver and not common steel. Too small for the spectators to notice that his cestus was not a typical cestus, aside it being smaller than a standard cestus (so the pieces of silver protruding from it were not as large), which is how he tricked Gutspiller into thinking he had no silver weapons during the day Gutspiller's guts were spilled.

The silvered cestus that Xander fought in the arena with was passed down through the generations. Family tradition is when the youngest child of the current owner of the cestus family heirloom turns 17, all the siblings of the current heirloom owner (and owner of The Buxom Ogress) compete in a barroom brawl on the floor their ancestors fought on, Xander and the ogress first fought. With the winner receiving the family heirloom from the owner of the bar. The new heirloom owner then becomes a co-owner of the tavern with the previous heirloom wearer.

Xander won his freedom more than a century ago (before the Age of Lost Omens had begun).

Emmett Xanderi's background:

Emmett Xanderi is the first-born child of the current owner of The Buxom Ogress. When the youngest of his siblings turned 17 (two years ago) he and his siblings had the traditional barroom brawl to determine who would become the new owner of the family heirloom and co-owner of the tavern. Emmett shuffled his smaller siblings around, as he could not bring himself to damage them, so he planned to wait until only one of his siblings was still in the fight and then pin them to the ground to claim victory. That was until his youngest sibling drew a dagger and stabbed one of their other siblings in the back. Emmett grabbed his dagger-wielding brother and repositioned him away from their brother that was just stabbed. Xander's actions to save his one sibling from a fatal second dagger attack resulted in his other sibling, his only sister, to have her throat slit, as Emmett moved his dagger-wielding brother away from his other brother, the dagger-wielder struck out as he got within reach of his sister and slit her throat.

Emmett, shocked at what their youngest sibling did, flung him against the wall of the tavern, knocking him unconscious when he hit the wall and slid to the floor. Emmett then ran over to his sister, trying to stop the blood spurting from her neck with his huge hands, but it was too late. Just before life drained from her eyes she warned her big brother, "Behind you," as her body went limp in his arms. Thinking it was his dagger-wielding brother his sister was warning him about, Emmet spun around with a devastating backfist and knocked his other brother unconscious.

Within in a week of his sister's murder, his youngest brother was arrested for murder, Emmett was wearing the family heirloom and with a rumour spreading that Emmett and his youngest brother had worked together during the fight, his father told him it would be best if he left the city for a few years. His father gave him the large chest that once held Xander's gold he purchased the tavern with and told his eldest child to not come back until he had filled it with gold. Before Emmett was about to walk out the door, his father told him to not leave yet, and to the astonished onlookers in the tavern, took Xander's cold iron klar shield from the wall underneath the plaque and walked over and handed it to his first-born, "To help ensure you walk back through the door someday, son."

Emmett's imposing size (6'10" and 350 lbs) has made it fairly easy for him to get work as a caravan guard. He is currently working as a caravan guard for a caravan heading to/arriving in Belhaim.
