Making Good on Promises: At some point in the past, Professor Lorrimor did you a favor under the condition that he would someday call on you to repay it. After he came to your aid, however, you never saw nor heard from him again, leaving you with a sense of unending anticipation that each day might be the day you were asked to return
the favor. Yet that day never came, and your fears and anxiety about what the professor would call on you to do abated. Assuming the old man had either forgotten about you or died, you eventually assumed you’d never have to follow through on your end of the bargain. When you
received word of the professor’s death, and that he had named you specifically in his will, your dread of what he could possibly want from you has grown throughout your entire journey to Ravengro.
Years of living with the fear and uncertainty of the unclaimed debt to Professor Lorrimor have inured you to extreme anxiety. You gain a +2 trait bonus on saves against fear effects.

Backstory:
Elsbeth grew up in the misty streets of Caliphas as an orphan. As a child left out on the streets by her parents, the girl quickly latched herself onto a promising group of misfit children like herself. Her natural strength served her well in the gang, as did her charm. However, it never quite sat right with her. Boys larger and meaner than her would often pick on her, bullying her to try to show how strong they were, that despite her strength, they could beat her. At the mere age of 8, she would commonly sit outside a church of Shelyn, marveling at the beauty and splendor of the men and women who would walk in and out of the chapel. She was never spared a second look, being a grubby little child begging for coins. It was after such an occasion of gazing up longingly at the church, at the age of 14, that she met the good Professor Lorrimor.

She went home that night, assuming that everything was as normal. She entered into her gang's hideaway, however, and found a horrific sight. What was left of her companions were tatters, being gobbled up by a pair of ghouls that had happened upon them. It is an open secret that Caliphas has its fair share of undead problems, but this was the first time that Elsbeth had ever seen actual evidence of it. Evidence that was staring her down like she was desert. Screaming, she turn and ran.

It was ultimately like a game, to the ghouls. Their endless hunger momentarily abated, they had decided to taunt and harass the girl before they tore her apart to make a wish. That late at night, the streets were mostly empty, the populace aware that hungry things stalked the night. Elsbeth ran through the misty darkness, banging on doors, begging for help, but no help was to be found. It was by sheer chance that she nearly bounced off of a man's legs, falling to the ground, and sheer chance that it was Lorrimor.

The man had a daughter of his own, of course, and couldn't bring himself to leave the young Elsbeth in her current plight. Instead, he placed himself between the girl and the ghouls, and used his arcane powers to bring the beasts to heel, and destroy them. Elsbeth, still dirty and muddy, stared up at the man in childish wonderment the entire while. She'd never had an adult help her before, and certainly not in such a spectacular fashion. When Lorrimor turned to the girl, to see if she was alright, she burst into tears and clung to his leg.

After speaking soothingly to her, and a hot cup of cocoa at the inn the Professor was staying in, he discovered her circumstances. Again, reminded of Kendra, he couldn't allow Elsbeth to remain living on the streets. He set about finding a foster home for the girl, and paying for her schooling.

She lived like this for 7 years, writing letters back and forth with the man, discussing school and life. Occasionally, Lorrimor would be asked to give a presentation in Caliphas. When this happened, the man always made sure to check in on Elsbeth, usually bringing sweets or books for the girl. When her powers first began to manifest, Lorrimor came at once. They were both pleased, and celebrated together. It was at this time that Lorrimor teasingly commented that now, she would be able to pay him back one day. While she was more than happy to agree, she found that waiting years for him to request her help was more stressful then she had known. Then, a few days ago, a courier arrived looking for her, saying something about a will...

Personality:
Elsbeth is a rambunctious, short tempered little thing, loving life and beauty. While in the gang, she gained a reputation of being a scrapper. This continued on into the early days of her schooling, where she felt that it was best to close debates with her fists. After it was explained to her that this was frowned upon, she held her temper in check, and managed to only offend a few people. She's more likely to help you than punch you, however, unless you need a good punching. Elsbeth does tend to be a little greedy. She believes, and blames this on, the fact that she evidently has dragon blood in her veins. When confronted with new situations, she tends to either try to blast said situation, or hide from it. Ever wary around new people, she will likely be subdued until she realizes that said new people are not out to hurt her, or try to prove their worth in besting her. Once she considers you to be 'hers', however, she will fight tooth and nail to protect you and care for you.
