About Ellara VanDerHoefen

Ellara was born in Heldren one snowy winter night almost 20 years ago. The caravan her mother was travelling with had stopped for the evening, and Meliara's labor had begun. Elder Natharen (just an acolyte at the time) was the only person on-hand with supernatural healing gifts...which turned out to be fortunate, as Ellara ripped through her placenta on the way out of her womb. Natharen was able to channel enough healing energy into both mother and child to save them both...at the same time, leaving an indelible mark on Ellara.

Growing up, Ellara always stood in wonderment of the world. Though not exceptionally smart, she was always bright and bubbly. Althought she'd always had an affinity for the divine, it surprised everyone in Cassomir who knew her or her family when she joined the Shelynite Faith as a paladin. Her mother was the only one who understood - Ellara saw beauty everywhere, and wanted to protect it until everyone was able to see it.

Once her training was finished, Ellara returned to the place of her birth. She has been in Heldren for about six months now, serving as a scribe and messenger, as well as trying her hand at painting. (She's started a mural of Erastil in the chapel, using a brush the size of her glaive. She's told Elder Natharen that she hopes he appreciates the broad strokes - he's still not sure how to react to that pun.) She's politely rebuffed the amorous advances of a number of men and women looking for a tumble, as she wants them to discover their own loves rather than hitching a ride on her tail.

Ellara was in Oppara when the unnatural winter started. She's recently returned to Heldren to hear of all the goings on, and is eager to jump in and help out.

Description: Ellara stands barely five feet tall; her compact frame packs most of its weight in wiry muscle. She keeps her brown hair short and out of her eyes. When out adventuring, she carries a glaive almost half-again as tall as she is; many have underestimated her for this precise reason, often to their detriment.
