Well that's the trick, isn't it; similar to which version of the gith? Look at the two gith races across multiple editions & they have very different ability score modifiers. Learned that while I was working on putting together a homebrew version of them, myself.

I hadn't thought about that. For me, I'm interested in referencing the 3.5 versions.

I will look up both the Kish and the Zerth.

I am looking for a race with similar humanoid characteristics and abilities as Gith. It doesn't have to look the same in appearance (as long as it's medium humanoid, two arms, etc.). I just want to use the stats for a race and use the Gith for the fluff. Thanks!

I have Alien Archive but haven't had a chance to do a deep dive yet.

I've searched the inter webs for a conversion of the classic Dragon 309/Dungeon 100 Githyanki Incursion campaign to Pathfinder and have come up empty.

Anyone have any content or links to share, to either conversions of the races/characters or the adventure?

Greatly appreciated.

I'm just curious whether adventure cards would aid a Gamemaster running a Pathfinder adventure or campaign.

If you're serious about bringing the PC's up to the AP, Gestault can help, but so can increasing their levels.

I'd consider trying to run them at +1 level compared to the AP's instructions and see how they do. If it feels 'just right' then you've hit bullseye. If it feels too difficult or too easy, adjust to taste. (Unless it's SUPER hard, I suggest observing for several adventures before making any modifications)

So I might just level them up faster than the AP recommends? Good option.

kty-ryder and Zhayne, thank you. I do want to ramp up their survivability because I'm concerned they'll be underpowered against the AP.

BTW, the Maguswitch is an awesome combo conceptually and in play. The other PC is a weapon master (trident) and alchemist.

kyrt-ryder wrote:

Atarlost gave a good way to think of it.

Each level a gestault character takes is a single level with the abilities of both classes. Like if I published a class with all the abilities of the Magus and Witch classes, gave it 3/4ths BAB and good saves for Fortitude and Will.

This is so helpful. I've kind of been thinking about this wrong. As a second level character, should I give him hit points, saving throw bonus, and base attack bonuses from both classes?

I think yes because let's remember there are two PCs in the party not four, but am I right?

Okay, though, one more question please:

One of the PCs is a Magus 2/Witch 2. Both arcane spellcasters. To make sure I'm doing this right, the PC is treated as a 2nd level character for the purpose of bonus feats & ability score points (meaning neither at 2nd level). Further, for spell casting purposes, the Magus casts spells as a 2nd level spell caster (not 4th) and same with the Witch. BUT do I consider them a 4th level caster for calculating concentration checks and caster level checks?

Joshua Goudreau wrote:
Gestalt is not dual classing, it's gaining the abilities of two classes at once, so not the same thing. You can easily bring gestalt characters to 20th level without worry. They are stronger than regular characters but not as much as you might think.

Suddenly it makes sense. Thanks.

Update: two players using one gestalt character each to play the Reign of Winter AP is going very well. But it suddenly dawned on me: each gestalt character has to stop at 10th level, say a Gestalt PC Wizard 10/Fighter 10, because going beyond that breaks the core rule book, right?

Am I missing something?

Joana wrote:
There aren't any official rules for Pathfinder; here are the 3rd edition rules.

Thanks. I'm still trying to figure out whether to go Gestalt or Mythic or both so two players can play an adventure path.

Silly question, but where can I find the Gestalt character creation rules?

james knowles wrote:

Go Gestalt AND Mythic. If you use point buy you might want to dish out some extra points say 25-30 over the normal 15-20 as well.

You and wraithstrike have some great advice, thanks. I think it may be possible to have them go Gesalt and Mythic. Have you or your players actually done that for a campaign?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I am getting ready to embark on my second Pathfinder campaign in 2014, Reign of Winter. I only have two players. We are about to begin Chapter Six of Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition. Currently, both players run two characters to have a well-rounded party of four. Its working well but is slow.

However, I would like to hear about other options for our next campaign. Ideally, I'd like each of them to run one character each. I can think of four options:

1. Give them mythic characters
2. Give them gestalt characters
3. Support them with more NPCs
4. Give them some home-brewed power boosts (max HP, double con bonus, etc.

I'd really like to run the campaign exactly as is (lazy). Perhaps it is best to have them run two characters each again.

Thoughts, idea, suggestions?

Well, this is embarrassing. Brain was thinking Second Darkness but interested in Jade Regent. Thanks for the reminder.

Can someone please direct me to the definitive Jade Regent PFRPG Conversion Guide?

I only wish Paizo would make a simple PDF conversion guide for download (not easy, I know, but I would pay for it).

Thanks.

If you're willing, please send out one more copy. I'd love one.

Ash on my head - I don't know why I forgot Zobeck. Oo Perhaps, I seem to have shelved Zobeck as clockwork-fantasy, not as steampunk.

I also forgot to mention Stormbunny Studios' Rhûne-products - essentially Steampunk meets Norse mythology. I'm SO waiting for the setting.

Their releases so far are interesting and their world's guide is FREE!

Downloading products from all of these publishers. Thanks.

There's Midgard's Zobeck, which has:

Zobeck Gazetteer
Crossroad's Player's Guide
Streets of Zobeck (adventure anthology, Gold Ennie(Best Adventure))
Alleys of Zobeck (bonus material for Streets)
Tales of Zobeck (8 3.5 adventures in Zobeck, Silver Ennie(Best E-book))

Streets of Zobeck is a urban crime/fantasy noir anthology with steampunk flavor, but it doesn't overwhelm the adventures. Tales of Zobeck has some more steampunkish adventures in it.

I'd also point you to Kobold Quarterly #7, which has airships, with some supplemental material here and here.

Ben, I am a massive supporter of Zobeck and have purchased, invested in and kickstarted every book those kobolds make. Haven't read Tales yet, so I didn't know it had so much steampunk woven in.

Shadowsfall's stronghold Gear's Gate is a steampunk city. The city is an arcanocracy, mostly run by alchemists but also some wizards, sorcerers and witches. It has both mundane and artifact mechs. And since Shadowsfall is the Plane of Shadows, it works in every campaign setting. It is available right now is both PDF and a Print/PDF bundle.

Okay, this just looks very cool Steampunk or no. Is there a larger campaign setting book in the works?

I'd help kickstart it...

NeoExodus: A Hosue Divided has a very steampunk influenced nation in the setting, the Arman Protectorate. A good example of what I mean is our class, the Machinesmith. Hope this helps!

I'll definitely check out NeoExodus. I'll admit that I've never been able to wrap my head around the setting's concept completely.

a) Rossi publishing's World of Terah (in the shop), still in development, but already with some releases.

OR

b) The successfully kickstarted Pure Steam campaign setting, which is also still in development.

You only have to be patient. :)

I'm intrigued by both. Sorry I missed their kickstarters. I'll await publication. Thanks.

Two separate books, please.

C - Both. Another vote from a Slumbering Tsar subscriber.

I'll post here and wherever this request pops up - I'd love an official epic level rule set for Pathfinder. I'd buy a hardcover devoted to it or just use rules that appear in a future adventure path.

It continues to boggle my mind that so many players would spend so much of their time arguing against the existence of official epic level rules. Don't buy the book. Don't allow the rules in your game. But please let the rest of us enjoy them.

Most companies are not as inclusive and responsive to their patrons as Paizo, which is why my brand loyalty is so high, so don't take this as a rejection of discussion of the pros and cons of future products. I just don't quite understand the anti-epic movement. It's a very large and passionate one - and it makes me nervous that it could roadblock this important (if optional) rules expansion.

Yay!!

*Crosses fingers*

Just wondering if a decision has been reached.

I second (or third) that emotion.

I've been slowly teaching my kids the PFRPG over the past two years (they are 7 and 9 now), but the Beginners Box brought everything together with streamlined adventures and a clear, concise guide to building characters. After finishing the boxed set adventure, we went immediately to my FLGS so they could buy their own dice and minis... and the next generation is born.

I would love to run them through the 4 Bash scenarios if Paizo could find a way to release them as PDFs. (I don't live anywhere near the one store in my state that held a Bash.)

When the time comes, Paizo will launch the signal, and all loyal followers of the cult of Paizo will arrive at the main office to have their brain installed into a legion of Paizobots. Then, World Domination!

World domination was never in doubt, if my bookshelves, brain and bank account are any indication. Just hoping for the specifics.

Very exciting. The name of the book is of little concern to me - I'll buy it no matter what it's called. I've been hoping for this book since the Pathfinder RPG was first launched and never thought it would see the light of day.

My only request - please make Section 2 on other playable PC races as long as possible.

Thanks.

I would absolutely be thrilled to read a copy of your conversion if you would be so kind as to mail to me at:

Any chance these Incantations publications are going to be available in print soon?

Does the third printing contain errata updates?

Thanks Eric.

By my math, I have at least 10 weekends to complete and this assumes I do some serious "packaging" of the encounters (for example, Coldsteel Lvl2 in its entirety should be done next weekend).

While my initial estimate ("Summer" 2010) stands, I would like to finish before Paizocon but the timing looks rather tight. Given this, I may jump around a bit, completing some complex encounters up front and leaving some "basic rooms" for the end.

At some point (shooting for this summer), I expect I will reformat the whole, fix the ugly parts, and package into a finished download.

I am "on the hunt" for a new conversion opportunity - Some votes for Night Below or the H series are in. As I looked over some low level adventures, I keep coming back to higher level challenges.

I briefly considered Rappan Athuk, but, at this point, it seems insurmountable (although I admit I pine to fix it's maps). Above any mentioned above, I am seriously considering a favorite adventure...

It lies in Dungeon #112...... (aka WG5)

This is a fantastic project and the pdfs look great. I for one would love to download a complete PDF conversion and run my players to it. Thanks for sharing this work.

Chris--hope u got squared away.

No bonus download material at this time...though subscribers will get.....well, something cool for being subscribers. New on that later.

One question is would folks rather have a 240 page pdf book for $30 or three sections of it for $12 each? Possible to do softcover sections or hardcover single book as well. Maybe both options?

Something cool for subscribers? Nice.

I absolutely prefer one giant hardcover volume.

Full subscription with hardcover purchased. I've downloaded the first chapter and am looking forward to the entire series.

Just curious - are you planning any bonus download content that should keep me checking the Frog God website on a regular basis?

Thanks. I thought Litorians supported AE and PFRPG. I will get the Paper Minis version.

Does anyone know if Litorians will have stats to make a PFRPG Litorian PC?

I haven't read one word of Retribution yet, but based on the quality of the adventure/setting description and wealth of free web enhancements, I ordered a copy from Amazon this week and hope to peruse it this weekend.

Any sense of when we might expect a glimpse of Swallowfeld - and will it have a print edition?
