Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

The burning sensation of the fireballs caused Eldren's headache to become very problematic for the mage. The amount of possibilities in these next few moments were mind boggling, and it took him a moment to realize it was actually his younger counterparts words that he was hearing.

He nodded... then without much else to guide him but luck, he attacked.

Fast initiative: Minor action- Draw a syringe of fire resistance. Greater sorcery- Empower spell. +1 strain. Action- Cast Capricious devastation at Katandramus. Boons: Empower spell- 2.
Boons: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
Chaos boon: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Bonus
Chaos die: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Bonus
Capricious Devastation: 1d20 + 2 + 4 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 4 + 6 + 6 = 20
Entropic damage: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 5) + (5) = 13
20+, yards warped back: 1d6 ⇒ 4

He saw Katandramus being moved to any number of different locations by the chaos attack and sometimes not at all. Somehow against all odds the waves of chaos lined up and he just fired his own blast at the right time. The attack itself was not wholly direct, but it was enough and forced the cultist back even further.

Eldren smiled, turning to give assistance to their allies where possible, only then did he see an increasingly clear image in his mind as many possibilities became fewer.

Slow initiative: Move to the top of the stairs. Greater Sorcery- Empower spell. + 1 strain. Action- Cast Singularity targeting 5 yards behind Katandramus's square. All creatures make a strength challenge roll with 5 banes to avoid being pulled towards the spells epicenter: Singularity 1, Potent spell 2, Empower spell 2.

Somthing changed. Eldren moved he knew he had to put Katandramus down. As his younger self was busily handing out protection against fire magics, Eldren moved to the top of the stairs.
"Your schemes to destroy the world end here, fool!"
Yards pulled towards epicenter: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7
Entropic Singularity: 10d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 2, 6, 5, 3, 6, 4, 2) + (4) = 44

Banes: Twain self 1, Strain 7: 8d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 3, 2, 1, 1, 5) = 28
Chaos boon: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Will vs. outburst: 1d20 + 2 - 6 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 6 + 4 = 8
Outburst, 7 yards: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 6, 4) = 19

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

Eldren had no clue what this timeline held for him. Everything that was happening now was much too chaotic for him to try and focus on right now. As his younger self halted momentarily to increase their offensive power, Eldren decided it would be wise to do the same for their defensive capabilities.

Fast initiative: Greater sorcery Lasting spell. +1 strain. Action- cast Blink. 1 minute. Impose 3 banes on any attacks against me. Then he was moving again.

Slow initiative: Move 10 yards up the stairs. Greater sorcery potent spell. +1 strain. Action- Cast Explosive missiles vs. Katandramus and the snake.

Katandramus, missile 1: 1d6 + 1 + 3d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (5, 6, 6) = 20
Snake, missile 2: 1d6 + 1 + 3d6 ⇒ (6) + 1 + (4, 1, 5) = 17
snake, missile 3: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Banes: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 2, 1) = 13
Chaos boon: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Bonus
Will vs. outburst: 1d20 + 2 - 4 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 4 + 6 = 16

The ebb and flow of chaos was minute enough that Eldren was able to hold onto the welling energies and keep them from being unleashed within their own ranks.

Eldren stared into the void as he cast his spell to hold back the tear threatening their world. It was among the most powerful teleportation magic's his younger self, and therefore he, had ever researched. It seemed to be working, the edges of reality halted in cracking any further... but the energies did not stop. Two sides, two wills pressed against his salve, separating the realities. Magic which his research had concluded should last for days was being torn asunder.

Then from within the void an eye was staring back at him.

Banes 4: Eye of the Void 3, Time Paradox 1. Boons 6: Dark Magic boon 2, 3rd Eye 2, Joy's Guidance 2,

It was more than the aged Wizard could take, despite his preparations and knowledge he began feeling the malice of the Eye upon him, driving him to recall his insecurities and past failures, pushing him into insanity!
But the constant calming assurances of the young, ever enthusiastic girl Joy, shook him out of his reverie and gave him the strength he needed to hold on.

"Of course," Eldren said, nodding to the enthusiastic young girl and awkwardly climbing onto her broom.

He glanced down at the rest of the group as they prepared to move. "We'll go keep the portal from opening, the rest of you need to hurry and stop Katandramus directly, or else he'll be able to do this again. Joy and I will catch up to you as soon as we can."
After a moment of thought, he reached into his bag and pulled out an adjustable leather arm strap with two healing potions and tossed them to Selgear. "Here, since you insist on running into melee take these." Then after a moment he tossed one a single potion to Shen. "You as well, catch!"

"Joy, let's go!" he said looking back upward towards the rift forming within the sky.

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

The older looking man stepped up to the group and stopped for a moment staring up at the sky.

"Of course." he said with an exasperated sigh. "Of course it couldn't be somewhere close to the ground!" Then after a moment he turned to face Joy.

"Joy, I'm going to need your help. I may have a spell that can actually stop or at least delay what is about to happen here. Even with my teleportation magic I can't get close enough to the rift... but you can fly." he said with something nearing a smirking grin.

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

Eldren walked over to Dramm and his mother after having watched the rest of the townsfolk scatter and cut in. "They'll have to learn to adapt. Regardless if it was the "right" thing to do or not, if we hadn't arrived until later, there would only be a handful of you left alive. Even then, it would still have been a coin flip as to whether the Iron Titan and the Orcs couldn't have done what we did and dealt with the Long Mother. Your old ways are gone now."

Carefully setting down the child he was carrying, a moment later Eldren noticed his own body began to glow with silver and he felt himself being pulled through time.

No. It's too soon... what is he doing?!

He turned and hurried back into the room. Upon seeing the mess of chaotic power surrounding his younger self, Eldren understood immediately as he focused on the scene in front of him.

"You hate him, but you save him... I don't understand you at all."

Slow initiative: Move to the table. Minor actions 1&2, pick up the boy, action- Dash away!

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

Eldren watched the exchange with some amusement until the blame was shifted back to him and his younger counterpart.

"Your insecurities about time magic aside, Selgaer. I'm not entirely certain where you think simplifying everything down to blaming me gets thrown in from a dragon attacking us makes much sense."

He looked at Dramm.

"What I was trying to ascertain was whether or not others were being drained by her. I can think of no reason a creature of Fey would ever bring a war machine made of Iron to their stronghold. But if perhaps a leader of a group was desperate enough to engage in war against her, then stealing some of the most powerful weapons created would make much more sense.

If we're lucky, there may be others marching ahead of us to do battle with the Long Mother."

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

After Dramm makes his discoveries, Eldren wandered over and looks over at the two sets of tracks with a thoughtful frown. "One goes to your hometown, eh, Dramm? Well that doesn't make sense unless..." he pondered the development for a few moments. "Dramm, how much do you know about this Long Mother's ability? Do you think it's possible she's attempting to feed off multiple people like you?"

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

Fast initiative: Greater Sorcery- Lasting spell. Action- Cast Chaos boon. 10 minutes.

"Risky as always, but I believe the benefits outweigh the downsides, so potentially useful all the same."

Slow initiative: Minor action- Draw a regular healing potion. Drink it- Heal 8 health.

Even as the chaotic energy infused his bodies, "Eldren" narrowed his gaze at his younger self's curious behavior.

"What on earth is he trying to accomplish? Showing compassion to an enemy of that caliber in the heat of battle, foolish."

Despite his words however, he felt a small pang in his heart as he remembered what it was like to have a heart of gold and wanting to help others. He pulls out a potion and downs it to relieve the newest burning sensation flowing around his own body, even as he flitted in and out of reality.

Chaos Boon: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Bonus

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

As Eldren's wounds healed, he let out a relieved sigh when his vision of the future began to open again with possibilities rather than closing.

"Tsk, fine. Whatever you say, young man."he said in annoyance, as his younger self had the nerve to give him direct commands, but realized it had to be for a good reason.

Fast intiative: Improved Spell Recovery (Accelerate & Twain Self).

The energy flooded into him replenishing some of his spent magic, which was immediately drained.

He then turned his attention back to the dragon flying overhead as it seemed to shrug off whatever it was Dramm had managed to do to it.

Still strange to think they're alive again. he thought to himself.

Realizing they would need every advantage they could muster and with the most immediate example of not being prepared still a fading memory, he delayed his own offense in favor of powering their offense.

Slow initiative: Greater Sorcery Lasting spell. Action- Cast Potent Magic. 1 minute. Move 10 yards go get closer to Uruuna. Minor action- Draw a healing syringe.

Agility challenge: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Eldren's 3rd eye foresight caused him some moment of hesitation as the Dragon closed in and the blessing of the Queen him some good as he dodged back and away from the worst of the creatures flames.

"Aagh!" he shouted in pain. "Foolish, idiotic, why am I so easily drawn into wanting to cause pain! I should know better."

Fast initiative: Greater Sorcery- Lasting Spell. Action- Cast Boundless Step. Triggered Action. Warp 20 yards to the east of the dragon.

Eldren's form became infused in reddish energy as he leaped into a corner of reality and came out further away from the Dragon.

Slow initiative: Cast Blessing of the Summer Queen. Targeting everyone within short range. Move back for cover.

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

The Elder Imedren, "Eldren", looked at Dramm as he made his proclamations. His expression turned enigmatic.

"Ah, so you share the same mindset as them. There are those, like you, who seem to believe that time and fate should flow in but one direction. They believe that there is but one determined outcome in the flow of time, one fate.

Dramm, you are making some vast assumptions about the nature of time magic. Do you even know how to use it? Have you lived it? Seen what others can do by traveling through it? I have.

Things can be changed. Outcomes avoided. When you know what the future brings, like through certain types of divination magic, doesn't that give you an edge? Sometimes you work to avoid it, we innately struggle against fates we don't like. If someone told you that you would die tomorrow, wouldn't you fight against it?

Time magic is another way to struggle against what has happened or will happen. Wouldn't you take it if you had a chance?"

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

Eldren shook his head. "Those things are a lifetime ago... and my mind is largely linked with that of your Imedren's now. It's like trying to remember vivid dreams, and while I may be better than most at remembering... even those will fade eventually.

In my time, from what I remember of it and where I can see the lines leading to it, we were not as strong as we are now. The Hag came to destroy Crossings. We tried to help with the cities defenses, we even managed to save a few lives, but it wasn't enough. I used divination magic and saw our deaths if we pressed forward. I pleaded for us to leave the city while we could... but you, Anophth, Dramm, TaBog, and Uruuna, all of you refused to leave for one reason or another.

I was a coward and I wanted to run. I was tasked with keeping Nutmeg safe, and then together we left the city a day before its destruction." he sighed, and looked to Dramm.

"I don't remember Katandramus from my memories. Nor do I specifically recall you mentioning anything about this Long Mother. Everyone who stayed died. I can only guess that the cultist's plans were halted by Maera's success, and the Long Mother did not gain anything by your apparent death at the hands of another.

Through years of study, trial, and error, I discovered not only was it possible to travel back through time, it was also possible to change events. I was trying to change the past by more subtly altering events. The best place to start, I knew, would be within my own past."

He frowned in thought at Dramm's confusion. "Well, it's perhaps not quite that simple. I'm not really here for more than short bursts of time but I am very real while I am here. My fate is intrinsically tied to your Imedren, should he parish, I would cease to exist entirely as well. It is therefore in my interest to keep him alive and as healthy as I can." as he spoke he looked at his younger self who was still glaring at him.

When Joy walked up to him and hugged him, Eldren's eyes widened in momentary surprise, then his expression changed swiftly from one of defensiveness to one of happiness. "Thank you for your kindness, Joy. I'm not so sure I deserve this moment of happiness though."

"I only have so many minutes at a time that I can exist within this timeline... if any of you have any lingering questions, now would be an opportune moment to ask."

"I was trying to spare you what had happened in my life. I gave you the tools you needed to make the decisions you needed, regardless of what you think you needed. You needed to be ready and now you are."

"The order of events leading to my future has been changed but now that I am stuck here, I have no idea where things will go from here."

Male Human Mage/Sorcerer/Watcher HP: 38, Dmg: 13, Defense 15 (18), Move 10,

"Of course I'm real... as real as anything else you've seen here anyway."
Any scars that are present from the many wounds Imedren has taken over the previous months are in fact there. Older, faded, in almost all cases... but no new scars seem to be anywhere.

"Yes, I suppose I have managed something that would otherwise be considered... impossible. Even by most chronomancer standards. But I found my way back here largely by happenstance. I would consider the time I left behind, my time, to be one not worth staying in.

I made sacrifices, left people behind, to try and meddle in the past... and I am now in my current state because I had blundered even in that."

He watched as Selgaer retreated and looked at Dramm, his face turning to sadness.
"You are both right, it caused some problems by me trying to-"

"Oh yes, 'a problem, certainly' he says, be as cryptic as possible. That always works so well in the end, doesn't it?" came a mocking tone from the older man. "For one who generally dislikes and occasionally despises things which obfuscate the truth, I'd have thought you might just lay it all out there."

"To answer your question clearly, master dwarf, those were nightmarish creatures of the Faerie, or rather, Children of the Long. They have a problem with this- our group, which may make things a bit more complicated than was originally hoped."

He turned to look at Selgaer, there was a long moment where he seemed to be sizing the Faun up, a strange expression twisted in his features. "To answer your question, Selgaer, I am a not an illusion, a dream, or some sort of phantasmagoria, I am in fact Imedren from a separate future. Bound here by chronomancy, or time magic to put it more simply. I suppose an apt description could be... remnant of a future time?" he stopped to let it sink in while he held onto his head.

Fast initiative: Sorcery Lasting spell. +1 strain. Action: cast Empowered Magic.

As he cast the spell a pair of strange runic circles appeared around his hand, a moment later it was echoed around Imedren's hand as well.

The old man grimaced immediately once the mercurial portal had faded. "Ah, of course. I remember this now." he muttered under his breath.

Fast initiative: Greater Sorcery- long spell. +1 strain. Action: cast Accelerate.

A wave of chaotic red energy suffused the older man's body too and mercurial light suffused his body. As it did, a copy seemed to form over Imedren's body as well. His head snapped back toward the Children of the Long and an irritated look came over him.

"You waited until now?!" he growled at Imedren. Then he looked at the rest of the assembled group. "Gah, no time! Proper introductions will happen later. You deal with the children for now, I'll try to make sure that We don't die!"

Blue light suffused his eyes, and after a few moments an eye made entirely of blue light opened on his center of his forehead.

Slow Action: Casting Third Eye. An extra eye opens in your forehead and remains there for
the duration. While the eye is open, you gain the following
benefits:
• You impose 2 banes on attack rolls against you.
• You make challenge rolls to resist attacks and other
hazardous effects with 2 boons.
• Creatures within short range of you cannot be hidden
from you.
• You cannot be surprised, blinded, or deafened.
• You make all Perception rolls with 2 boons.

Banes: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1) = 6
Will: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 2 - 4 = 9

Although he tried to resist, the sorcerous power was too great and escaped from him.
