Ok thanks guys, you all were of great help to me!

Tell us about any awesome(crazy) traps you have encountered or created, perhaps an idea for one?

Every time a wizard attains a new level he/she gains 2 more spells to add to his or her spellbook but I read something about him/her getting more spells because of a high INT-score.

Is this only spells per day or is it also spells attained and if so then why would he/she get so many spells?

Example: a fifth level wizard. If you have a score of 22 you would get two 1st-level spells and two 2nd-level spells and one 3rd level spell and those two you attain and so on...

Am I understanding this correctly?

We all know that the wizard gains 2 spells each lvl. But does the wizard need to write down those two spells in his spellbook to be able to learn them and practice them and then why does it cost a 100 gp to write one?

yup players, followed by dice, rule books(core and depending on system also the bestiary equivalent), paper and pens/pencils

Yeah ofcourse, but i meant something more special, to make the players more comfortable, some home brewed stuff you always do?

I like to have only one lamp on the table pointed at a red paper to set the mood for the players, and ofc some snacks!

Now what do YOU DO?

The bard seems useless in combat, but then again what is more frightening than a epic level bard showin of his epic lute skills right in your face in front of the barmaids!

And by the way what you said here

While fighting the baddies here, one of them lets slip that the party has fell for the diversion and that the hammer is already in the cult's hands. This should get the party heading for the mayor's office.

will happen in the Cargo house (first dungeon).

And about there only being one guy in the necromancers (followers) HQ: they all left to attend to their mission and that one guy was a bit slow.

Thanks for the advice and I really like the first part with sending them to the mayor. At the end there, maybe its best if the mayor doesnt die or maybe is ressed by some priests in town, so theat he may give them some clues about the origin of the hammer and its power, and ofc give the heroes xp and gold for completing the ep 1.

I also thought about having burning buildings and people shouting and it will make a good impression on the heroes, they will also realize the danger around them. Some Vrocks flying above them would also be cool in all the confusion.

New idea about the blue shards: the demons from the abyss can't confront a creature holding a shard and backs off.

If the necromancers are going to have a headquarters in Ydyne, I thought about the idea of their house not burning like the others, (like you said) and the heroes will enter the house to find only one necromancer packing down some stuff in a bag. He will be surprised and scared when the heroes find him and will kill himself with a dagger (the heroes can prevent this from happening if the try). The map I talked about before in the Cargo house is not there but a different map is, it reveals the location of Cargo house with a mark of Erythnuel. The heroes will most likely follow this lead and head for the Cargo house (first dungeon).

I still want Karchev and Behevu to argue over the hammer and become enemies. They will both slip out some information and hints for the heroes when they argue like this and I have allready written the conversation and practiced it a lot, its a bit like how you wrote it in the end. The two might even argue when the heroes have shown themselves and are ready to fight.

Whats you're opinion on this?

I forgot to mention that its d&d 3.5e.

WHO TOOK MY BACON! it was in the fridge to mins ago, and I always keep my bacon in the fridge, always!

Elephants like to smoke cubans.

114) Socialism is the only way to go for a country to get a good and steady economy in the long run.

Why will artists depict my RPG characters / monsters?

Dear Gruumash, are you an orc or a silly half-orc?

I have a pretty good life too! :D

Pizza, french fries!

WoW was just a shelter from the real world. He didnt have many friends and therefore made friends in game. He said that he dreamed of playing wow for one year longer. But I dont think wow is to blame for his crazy ideas. Call of Duty is pretty damn bloody at some points and the 2nd had a massacre were you played the villan (actually good guy undercover, you can choose to shoot or not).

always wanted to try 2nd ed! Playing 3.5 now...

Tbats a lot of posts...

-The followers of Erythnul-

This one is a bit long, but bare with me here.
The party consists of a fighter lvl 5, a bard lvl 5,
and a barbarian lvl 7.

Excuse me for my bad english.

So, ok guys, I need some tips here for this campaign Im running. I created this country named Queris, the three PCs have done some small quests allready but they were not all successful. They are now chasing a group of necromancers who they have heard of misteriously leaving a house in Mytonn city and then to later find out that a man was killed inside the house the same night. As they search and ofc loot the house they find this blue shard in a locked chest and some sand on the floor were the man was killed.

The shards have a magical power that lets the caster wielding it summon a demon from the abyss with little effort. The sand on the floor gives the andventerurs a hint about the deserts in the abyss were many demons reside. The main target for the necromancers were the shards, and they didnt find the last one. The person who was living in the house was an old adventerur who had been protecting the shards from evildoers over the centuries and now the three heroes must retrieve the stones and unveil the scheme of the necromancers.

The heroes now know about the necromancers, and that the stones are magical in some way or another. They also know now that they are heading west, due to the information from strangers walking about on the same road. It also seems logical they are heading west because to the north there are icy mountains with orcs, goblins and ogres occupiyng the border.
And only huge plains to the east with no roads.

It seems like I have them on track for the town called Ydyne on the west coast, and thats were the necromancers are heading. I just hope I can keep them on track.

The necromancers are followers or worshippers of Erythnul and their mission is to spread chaos all around Queris. Their leader is Behevu, a great and evil necromancer who wants to weaken the royal army of the king in Queris and also take over the throne. His goal is to strike down the army while they are in combat with the orcs from the other nation to the north using the shards and an ancient hammer to summon even greater monsters then the demons of the abyss. Behevu lives between the two nations in the dreadpeak mountains to the north. He is hiding there in an abounded

Behevu has a son named Karchev who is an evil cleric who does all the dirty work for his father. He is getting sick of being treated harshly and will soon turn on his father and so will the necromancers Julius, and Masartus.

Arriving in Ydyne "ep 1"
------------------------------------------------------------------------

When the heroes arrive in Ydyne they will discover a lot of guards outside the gate and walls. These guards have inspected everyone who is either leaving or entering the town. They executed this operation when they heard the news of the murder in Mytonn and when they heard rumours about some strange people in dark robes wandering about. The necromancers have arrived in the town before the operation started.

They will either just go do some stupid things around in the town or tell the mayor or someone in the milita about what they know so far.
But anyway, a night, 12 o'clock, the necromancers are summoning the demons from the sewers and the cargo house at the docks. They will create panic and chaos in the streets as the demons get teleported to the surface. The characters will wake up to the screams of the villagers
And a guard will tell them to head to the docks to find out whats going on down there and report back to him outside of the mayors mansion.

The heroes will find their first dungeon at the dock, the old cargo house, and then enter. They will encounter 2 drenches, 2 necromancers, a mercenary warrior, and a babu in this dungeons. There is also a chest in a dark room with some gold and they will most likely find a map of Ydyne with the followers plans on it.

The map points to the mansion. They heroes will arive at the mansion finding a bunch of injured soldiers and guards fighting different types of demons. The commander of the milita will tell them to head inside the mansion to find the mayor and rescue him.

Karchev and his necromacers have killed almost everyone within the mansion, only the mayor and a rescuable lady is alive when the heroes enter the Mansion. They will encouter about 5 drenches, Julius and Masartus, Karchev and perhaps some more drenches. They can also encounter 2 babus and a vrock suprise attacking a character in a window and then swiftly escape the scene.

Karhev will kill the mayor when the heroes enter the last room. They can move silently in to listen and hide behind a statue to see. A image of Behevu will appear as Karchev takes a hammer hanging on the wall nehind the mayors chair. Only Behevu and Karchev knows about the hammers power and the history behind it. A conversation between the two will make them angry and Karchev refuses to hand over the hammer. Behevu teleports the hammer out of his hand and his image fades away. They are now mortal enemies. A hint is given to the heroes about the whereabouts of Behevu when Karchev says: "You can't hide in those peaky mountains forever!" This "episode" of the adventrue will end with a battle between the heroes and Karchev duking it out untill he escapes with a teleport or runs to safety.

I have more planned for Karchev and Behevu in the next mission. As you can see, I have figured out a lot of the plot allready but is there anything I should fix, I have made all he dungeons and monsters stats and I believe they are not to dangerous. I have "ep 2" all planned out too, just need to get it donw on paper. If you need to see the monsters and characters stats I can give you them in the comments.

Thank you for reading this and wasting so much time on me please give some advice.
