About Egón Helmcleaver

Born in Sky Citadel Janderhoff, Egón is not unusual among the many dwarven/oread offspring. In fact the only evidence that he is not fully a dwarf is the telltale glitter of his eyes and hair. At first glance his eyes appear strangely colourless, but then you notice the glittering flecks of emerald, sapphire, amethyst, and even ruby. His coal black hair is streaked with white and grey, until the light catches it and then it is seen as the silver it is.

He is very average sized for a dwarf, but while his muscles have been built by the traditional activities of rock crushing and the occasional anvil bashing, they have been honed by climbing out of holes and down cliff faces, traversing dangerous terrain, and fighting various cave creatures into something a little more sinewy than the average dwarf.

Most at home in the dim light or darkness underground, Egón is not quite sure about Torag's mandate to find the surface. Not particularly religious, his soul is most at peace in the stillness of an utterly dark cavern, the unexpectedness of an underground waterfall, and the beauty of a glittering seam of precious metals or crystal. The need to always be alert and prepared for danger, be it from getting hopelessly lost or stuck, a spontaneous tunnel collapse, or some menacing denizen of the dark, fulfills his ingrained need for excitement. His parents hope this is something he outgrows before the final adventure befalls him.

Far from civilization you quickly learn to assess whether someone or something is friend, foe, or just wants to be left alone. As a result Egón accepts friends when they appear, no matter their appearance, deals with foes quickly and decisively, and leaves the rest well enough alone.

Egón spent his childhood exploring the somewhat tame caverns and tunnels below Janderhoff and longs for more excitement, more challenge, so when a letter from someone named Rai from the famed Sky Citadel Highhelm reaches him briefly describing an opportunity to venture into the depths below Highhelm, he immediately joins the next caravan heading east.
