I was working from home 4 days a week up until November. That part I don't mind. But the fact that I can't have my monthly / every few weeks get togethers, that is what bugs me. I'm not that social. But I enjoy seeing my friends at our pre-planned social gatherings.
Edgar, still towards the back, is heavily uncertain about this new friend. In fact, he is repeating nope to himself inaudibly while preparing his weapon and shield. They aren't brandished per se, but they are held.
There is likely to be a compulsion to jump off through the open section, going by the plot thus far.
The stories never talked about things like this. Dragons he could handle. Rampaging monsters would be a welcome break from this place. He needed an enemy he could fight, not this. This was what caused fear, the unknown. "If I start attacking any of you, do not hesitate to put me down hard. I'm tough. I'll heal. I could not live with myself if I killed any of you." He says it in an even tone, holding back emotion. There would be time later to parse these feelings.
Edgar tries to help wrestle Jiliana to the ground, seeing as something seemed to be possessing her... more than usual, that is. She always seemed a little possessed. He doesn't think he can quite get a hand through, so instead he tries to use his definitively larger frame to block Jili's view of Ro.
Yes, there it was. "That is an exceedingly unhelpful thought to have at the moment. I prefer not to humanize the undead, or consider the reason they exist. So if she shows up, I shouldn't put an end to her because of a tragic death?" Just like that, the moment of respite from this horrible place is gone.
"I don't think she would have a use for it, being... as she is." Edgar doesn't seem fazed by Lia's statements, which is also a worrying sign. He'd normally be amused or perhaps disturbed, but given the backdrop of the house, her eccentricities were a welcome break rather than a bother.
I am in South Dakota, where I am pretty much the whole venture corps, as a VL. I am in office today, but am one of 3 and start at home tomorrow. I'm doing fine otherwise, though just got diagnosed with fatty liver as a non-drinker so that's a kick in the shins and I have to lose weight and my gym just closed. Guess that part sucks temporarily. I'd be interested to know which scenarios are yours to see if they're any of my faves. I am pretty sure you're not Thursty, since he is Canadian not from Oregon. If you're Larry W, I may fanboy here. Edit: the first scenario I ever played was one of yours, cheers.
"I agree, it's on the tip of my tongue." Edgar supplies, racking his brain for the knowledge.
Edgar keeps up a defensive position to the rear, at least nothing would be sneaking up on them... he hopes.
"I don't like the idea of being here, but I do agree we can't overlook anything." Edgar doesn't like being cast as the cowardly one, but given what was happening to them one by one, he knew his turn was coming and did not look forward to it.
"I like this house less and less the more time we spend in it. Are we likely to find anything more?" Edgar, who has been more affected by this house and the occurrences therein than much of anything in recent memory, is looking forward to being out of it. He certainly doesn't look forward to the house trying to manifest anything through him. He ponders divesting himself of weapons, lest he harm someone else.
"Ah, well perhaps it's better she doesn't hear me," Edgar offers sheepishly from the hallway.
"You seem to be victimized often by this house... it might be safer for you not to be here," Edgar remarks to Rojava. "I would hate for worse fates to befall you... you nearly just died."
Edgar stays in the hall. Last time he was near a room, it left him wounded far worse than a blade could manage. He'll gladly jump in against a wight but the psychological warfare this house was waging unnerved him. Definitely burn this place to cinders after.

Edgar listens to the various revelations, and keeps a stoic face. It would take only a nominal effort to see that he's just barely concealing his feelings in a clenched jaw, one to hide his nearly quivering lip. He looks away, the better to hide his feelings. The fighter makes like he's investigating the footsteps also, but he's just trying to busy himself to keep certain thoughts at bay. "We have rope, and can certainly tie someone up," Edgar remarks. The shaky voice is there, but could certainly be attributed to tension and concern.
As always, be well. The rest can sort itself out whenever.
"Once we're done here, I would agree that a cleansing fire is a good idea, but only after we've explored it and ensured there is no one within." Edgar definitely thinks fire is an appropriate response to the situation.
Edgar sputters a bit as Ro not only approaches him in her maddened state, but brushes up against him and then keeps doing it. He's certainly not opposed to the idea, but the suddenness of the gesture takes him off guard. Then he realizes she's under the effect of the haunt's influence, and blanches at both the embarrassment she might feel as well as his own, at having thought perhaps she'd been harboring unknown feelings for him. There was of course nothing there. He averts his eyes and joins in the chorus, a hint of regret to his voice. "Damn."
"Why are you touching things, I fail to understand the sense of that!" Edgar tries to distance himself from the piano, hoping to avoid the effect, seeing as he has no way of harming a spirit.
"These are the same sort of people who are creating undead, they may be abnormal, leaving a piano to rot seems the least of their concerns," Edgar adds, a hint of irritation in his voice at the nonchalance of some of the other party members.
"Burning him out would be an act of cowardice. We should face him openly, though I agree his deeds do merit... caution." Edgar feels uneasy. The house has an aura so strong that not even he can ignore it, and he wasn't particularly sensitive to that sort of thing.
"It will also let us know of any other possible exits, so we can either block them or use them, as the need arises." Edgar answers Rojava. It was a tactical approach, and as a guard it's something he'd certainly consider in these events. They were about to assault a stronghold, without knowing precisely what was inside, and without sufficient forces to hold all the points of egress effectively. This was a terrible idea, and yet here he was.
Edgar will just wait for his nice dragon lady to come along...
What about Ro, Lia, and Drasven? Surely everyone needs love. We could be all Big Love up in here.
Edgar is marginally jealous of Karmid and Jili's "thing", but has come to realize perhaps his feelings for her are more brotherly than lover-ly. :P
Edgar is not quite so distraught as those who had been with Lia longer, but it's still concerning when someone doesn't show up for an intended meeting, and then upon learning she headed for Foxglove Manor, concern is greatly raised. "This is foolish, to set off alone. We're much more likely to live together." His bravado hides a bit of the fear, though neither emotion seems at home with him.
That's good stuff if you are dex based. I'm Str based. I plan on going ultra-trip. Got combat expertise, will get improved trip and the one that gives AoO's when I trip.
I found out at level 9 I can trade a feature in for getting warpriest weapon damage. Doesn't seem great as it would only get my 1d6 to 1d8, 1d10 at level 10. Pondering my options.
As a bard you have as many HP as I had last level...

Edgar shakes his head, once he can again. "I thought I could protect you as well, it looks like none of us are quite what we thought we were." He collects his sword and shield, putting them away. "These dangers are more than I had considered. I am glad we have such good companions to protect us when we fail." He sounds sheepish, for likely the first time since joining the group. Edgar is usually so certain, it's very unlike him to be hesitant and fearful.
Mainly just wanted to post because I'm still here and don't want to neglect the game.
Edgar continues standing rigid, waiting for the paralysis to fade.
I have a mindless, tedious job. I get to listen to podcasts or whatever though which is great.
I considered the same fact, Lia, because I have listened extensively to the Glass Cannon Podcast. :) Bit of Luck is amazing.
Edgar's luck tries to help him not be paralyzed. Unfortunately it does not appear to be enough as he does succumb to the paralysis.
Edgar lashes out at one of the creatures before him, particularly the one that was going after Jiliana. He imbues the blade with draconic energy once more.
In his sickened state, Edgar has trouble striking the creatures.
Edgar hustles up to beside Jiliana, sword and shield readied, still a little on fire. "Get behind me. I can take them." He says, and it doesn't seem like bravado.
Edgar walks through the flames, unburnt, though his armor certainly seems to be heating up. He strikes at a zombie.
Edgar slices at the creature between himself and Drasven, focusing draconic flame around his scimitar.
He slices the creature cleanly, the flames trailing his blade not so severe as the pyre burning nearby.
Yep, I was not up therefore I did not worry but nearly two weeks was long enough.
It has been nearly two weeks sans action.
Humorously, I'm also closing on a house that day (selling). You aren't buying it in South Dakota, are you?
