![]() I assume Boxer is using Streetwise? The people on the street seem to be talking about an odd man who lives a few blocks away. (They don't mention which direction.) His name is Arack, or something like that, and he moved here a few months ago. He was polite enough, but the sounds of construction kept coming from his townhouse at odd hours. Raivek, a skill check? 7/12 ![]()
![]() In that case, let's continue. Amyrielle attempts to find some sort of clue as to which way the haunt came from, but finds nothing. Gabrielle is more successful, as an urchin saw a man with long black hair carrying a large amount of alchemical supplies pass this way earlier this morning, guarded by four goblins. Six successes, one failure. Normally there'd be a fight right now, but that's not really suited for pbp. ![]()
![]() Gabrielle soon finds a guard who says he heard a faint whisper and a chill along the back of his neck shortly before the haunt appeared. He was stationed to the north. Gurdang soon finds his charge, who corroborates the guard's story by saying he thinks he saw a patch of fog coming from the north, but thought he was imagining things and said nothing. Amyrielle suddenly realizes that the mourning haunt had to have been summoned to this plane, and judging by the levels of arcane energy in the area it couldn't have been summoned here. With that, you all hit the streets.
Raivek grabs a shopkeep by the collar and asks him if he saw anything today. The man, fearing for his life, tells him that he saw something dart across the bridge below his shop. Khashana realizes that the most likely place for a demonic ritual in that direction is at the base of Dalannan Tower. Everywhere else in that direction is either a marketplace or a foundry. Five successes, next check can't be Insight. ![]()
![]() It didn't take much more for the demon to fall. One good swipe was all it took for it to fade back into mist, a symbol appearing in the fog that most you have not seen for four years... Any deeper thinking you could do is interrupted by the head of security. "You... You killed it. You saved all our lives. Here, you all deserve a reward. Half the fee we were being charged. You all deserve it." He tosses a bag of money at your feet. Still, one question remains: where did this thing come from? 40 gold each. Now, time for a skill challenge! Relevant skills: Diplomacy, Insight, Intimidate, Streetwise, Perception, Arcana ![]()

![]() Gurdang hit, Amyrielle missed.
Rolls:
Fog Lash vs Boxer: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 112d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3) + 2 = 81d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 112d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3) + 2 = 81d6 ⇒ 2 Fearful for it's existence, the haunt lashes out at Boxer. The warforged dodges it's wild swings easily. Trust me, this fight would of been harder if I could reliably roll above five. (All: +2 Damage)

![]() The fog demon surges across the field, lashing out along the way. Rolls:
Dark Tempest, shift to H12 and attack Boxer, Gabrielle and Khashana. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 222d4 + 1d8 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (3, 3) + (5) + 2 - 3 = 101d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 182d4 + 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4, 1) + (5) + 2 = 121d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 82d4 + 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + (5) + 2 = 10 Boxer and Gabrielle both feel the fog's wrath. 10 damage to Boxer, 12 damage to Gabrielle. Gabrielle and Boxer are now bloodied. Boxer can make a basic attack. Raivek: 21

![]() While the lightning only illuminates it, Gurdang's charge proves more effective. Rolls:
1d6 ⇒ 6 Move, stand up. Standard, Discorperate, teleport to F6. Action point(last AP), use Fog Lash on Raivek. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 122d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3) + 2 = 81d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 202d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 51d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 In fact, the fog breaks up entirely, only to reform by the fountain and lash out at Raivek. 5 damage to Raivek. Gabrielle: 25

![]() You can't use Grappling Strike on a charge, so I'm just assuming you made a basic attack.

![]() The fog continues to be hit from all sides. However, Raivek can't seem to aim at the incarnation of his homeland's destroyer properly. Hit. And Raivek has horrible luck. Gabrielle: 25

![]() The fog recoils at the electricity. (Hit, and it's -3 damage, not -3 attack) The demon then surges across the plaza, lashing out at everyone around it. Spoiler:
Standard action, Dark Tempest to shift to E9, attacking Khashana, Boxer and Gurdang along the way. Action point, Fog Lash on Amyirelle, then move action to C7, Drag into The Mists if both attacks hit Amy. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 242d4 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + (3) + 2 = 91d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 242d4 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + (3) + 2 = 71d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 202d4 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 4) + (4) + 2 = 121d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 72d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 91d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 122d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3) + 2 = 81d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 The fog chills Khashana, Boxer and Gurdang to the bone, but Amyrielle comes out unscathed. 6 damage to Khashana, 7 to Boxer, 12 to Gurdang. ![]() Four years later, the Day of Mourning still haunts your dreams. You were lucky. If you just a few hundred yards to the east you would probably be dead right now, just like thousands of others. Words run through your dreams, Five at the brink of desolation stand as one against the tempest's roar... Today, you all find yourselves at a towertop ceremony in Sharn honoring those fallen in that dreadful day four years ago. A former Cyran major
Amyrielle, Khashana:
An invitation arrived three days ago from your old acquaintance Lord-Commander Bren ir'Gadden, now only a Lord. You had no reason not to attend and every reason to, so here you are. Boxer:
You arrived back in port today, and while the rest of the crew headed for the pubs you headed to the memorial. The guards briefly attempted to detain you, but Lord ir'Gadden soon arrived to see the commotion and told them to find you a seat. Gabrielle:
Your old acquaintance Lord Bren ir'Gadden has hired you to provide refreshments for today's ceremony. You can't help but think you may have been hired for your past connection more than your food, but you still have a small stand set up on the balcony overlooking the memorial. Raivek:
You arrive at the ceremony, just like how you've done for the past three years. One of the guards made a weak attempt at keeping you, but you convinced him to let you by. The rest recognize your homeland. Now, you stand at the stairs listening to a speech, and a single tear falls in honor of your lost countrymen. Gurdang: You have been hired to guard a young heir by the name of Darik ir'Tain in addition to your duties guarding the ceremony. Thus, you are here listening to the speech and making sure he doesn't sneak out instead of playing cards with the other guards down below. ![]()
![]() Boxer wrote: Is the light gray a on the second floor a veranda? The light gray everywhere is the ground. The dark gray is a wall, but thin enough you can share the same space as it. (The wall's on the outer edge, so no going from H7 to I7 without going through the door first.) The asterisks are columns holding the balcony up. The slashes are stairs. Bren leads Aric out by the hand. "Well, he can still walk, somehow. I think I know where we are and which way is the Brelish command. Come, let us be away from this dreadful place." ... ![]()

![]() Raivek wrote: I pretty much finished my character. I need to fill in the details of his spells, but that's all i think. Wanna look it over? See if i did anything wrong? Good, except for one thing. You don't really need a hand crossbow, Acid Orb is a basic attack and would do more damage/be more likely to hit anyway. Still, as someone who played a chaos sorcerer before, I wish you luck, because if it goes your way you'll be bloodying half the battlefield in a single action. ![]()
